I believe it is a company that has signed an agreement with AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint for NFC payment rights (if not exclusivity). One of the rumors this weekend is that the Isis vs. Google Wallet issue was the source of the major consternation between Google/Samsung and Verizon.
I was at an airport yesterday at one of those newstand/convenience shops in the terminal wing. I saw a Visa/MC paypass thing attached to the card swiper, and among the logos, the NFC symbol was on there. Would loved to have waved my Galaxy Nexus to pay for the bag of pretzels. Hopefully, soon enough.
