Hey guys!

Been lurking in this thread since ~100 and finally decided to join! I feel like I know you all so well already :D

As many of you are, I'm incredibly excited for the next Nexus! I'm on Fido in Canada, but I'll go so far as to sell one of my kidneys to get one (just kidding)

(maybe not, it would have to be on the spot for me to decide)

You could just sell some blood instead. :D

Glad you decided to stop lurking. Welcome to the forums.

I get this. I know Atrix 2 isn't, but RAZR was rumored to be and Moto insiders on Howardforums basically assured may of us anti-pentile sorts that moto would move away from qHD pentile in general and that we would be happy with most all future moto phones after that move was made. They didn't really say there would be no new pentile phones, but that if there were they would be at a better ppi. Basically the fact the razr is qHD is the only reason I am saying it's not pentile. I myself would be surprised if it is in fact AMOLED and even though that has supposedly been leaked I would not be surprised if it is LCD.

Interesting. If Razar really has non-pentile qHD, that must be LCD like Atrix 2. But Bionic folks seem to like pentile qHD LCD and tout bright white, outdoor visibility. I wonder if they can still say that if Moto is moving away from pentile LCD.

I believe that all the current LTE phones can do simultaneous voice and data when using 4g. I don't think this will be any different.

This is what I miss about being on AT&T. I used data and voice together all the time. Can't wait for Galaxy Nexus.

Has everyone checked out the RAZR teaser site? God is that an ugly phone.

That was the first thing I had my dad check on his Bionic.

4G LTE phones (when on 4G) can do simultaneous voice/data. This is because the phone uses 4G for data and 3G/1x for voice. If you don't have 4G coverage you will not be able to use data just like on our current 3G devices.

Except for the Thunderbolt. The technology is there, the manufacturers just choose not to use it.

Maybe, but I think Moto uses Samsung for displays based on the Pentile LCD tech which I think Samsung sorta owns through a small IP company they purchased. And Samsung has been working VERY hard at getting excess AMOLED capacity to try and win back customers after losing HTC by creating shortage of their AMOLED phones while the Samsungs never did see such shortages. HTC then left for Super-LCD which I believe is LG tech. Moto could very well be looking to become the first customer to exploit this AMOLED production ramp since Nokia was the only one still using it much and their sales have been tanking. May be something that has been a long time in the coming, but not something they wanted to intro with the Atrix 2 which was a mild upgrade to a somewhat sub-premium phone at this point.

You are correct regardless on the outdoor visibility. At least until someone maybe decides to go with a 720p Pentile RGBW LCD.

I just had a thought, which I will now share with everyone because I'm a cool guy.

Motorola has been building their whole 'webtop' experience into their top-end phones for nearly a year now. I think we can all agree it's not exactly a seamless experience though, running a virtual machine on top of android.

Now we all know that the Asus Transformer is at least a passing laptop experience on Honeycomb. Ice Cream Sandwich is an amalgamation of 2.3 and 3.2, so it's possible that you could make some kind of hack to change to the tablet interface while on a phone. And we know that the Galaxy S2 at least has keyboard and mouse support. This gave me the idea to put together a webtop-like setup for the Prime - a 720p+ monitor (mirrored) along with bluetooth keyboard and mouse for doing productive things while in big-picture mode.

Then another thought occured to me. The Nexus Prime has a new dock connector.

Yes, yes, welcome to the forums! Don't believe Early when he says you need to pay him a $20 entrance fee.

It's $35, and I'm the treasurer. I'll PM you the paypal details later. :p

These days, we are keep hearing of galaxy nexus, I highly doubt that we will see GSM nexus prime. Remember iphone 4s/5 rumors? We are only know the detail of iphone 4s but not iphone 5, despite the iphone 5 case leak.

Black_man_x panda has said the real beast(nexus prime with exynos 4212?) will come in 1st quarter of 2012 "AT&T".

Therefore, I think we only see galaxy nexus in ICS event.

I think a lot of the Bionic crowd don't like their screen, it's just a "What can I do?" situation so they just accept it. But I was actually hoping that the screen on the Galnexusaurus is Pentile, for the outdoor readability. There's a lot of times where I want to sit outside and read, and I can't.

(Although I guess that's over with, since Winter Is Coming.)

But, seriously, I hate walking around outside and not being able to read a text. I really hope the screen is Pentile 720p. I don't think you'd notice the screen door effect at that resolution. Hope not, anyway.

Would like to correct you on screen suppliers. HTC is not using LG screen, their SLCD is from Sony. LG is however supplying IPS/LCD to Apple and you know that alone is huge quantity. I don't know who provided pentile LCD to Moto so far, but I'm pretty sure it's not Samsung. I don't think Samsung ever produced pentile LCD, but they make pentile SAMOLED.

Holy smartphones batman, I haven't checked in for a few days and we're over two hundred pages and over ten thousand posts?

Can't wait until tomorrow night :) No world series game until Wednesday (GO CARDS) and the announcement will be great entertainment!

I go away for a few hours and miss 3 pages. This is getting ridiculous. I have a question. I have never owned a Samsung phone. I have heard several times in this thread that Samsung has issues with their GPS. Can someone give me some details about what those issues are? I use my phone as my GPS and I travel a lot.

That GPS issue seems to have been fixed from Galaxy S II and on.

I just hope they surprise us and say this phone will be on Sprint this month too. I've been waiting for this phone since MAY!!!

But I doubt it since Sprint just got the Epic 4G Touch, which isn't a bad phone, its just not better than the Nexus.

A bit off topic, but my sister just joined the android side  Thats right. She got tired of her iPhone 4 and just splurged on a bionic upgrade.

Im so proud of my big sister :D

She tried this once before, however with an introduction to android with a thunderbolt... once her att iphone 4 was bricked during an update. She still had problems with it (she was "holding it wrong"). The thunderbolt was not a good starter into android I dont think and she ended back up on verizon and got a white iphone 4. still having the same problems.

She got fed up and ordered the bionic. I tried to tell her to wait as other phones where coming out but she went for the bionic. At least its a step up from the thunderbolt.

I am still bent on the nexus, BTW :D
