there are no Chrome extensions but I found a web-based one at webchat.freenode.net it's what I'm using. Just enter a name and the channel, then the Captcha stuff and you're in

I use the built in Opera IRC client for IRC. I'm a Firefox User but Opera is installed on all my machines just for IRC.

Well we will all share a virtual beer tomorrow night regardless of the outcome. It's been a ride and it is deserving of a nice farewell or a spectacular kick-off.

I am sorry I can't par take. I cant be virtually drunk because I have to work tomorrow night and don't want to get fired

He could also be working off of old information, IE the crap that had us worried a day or two ago that seems to be resolved according to Steven's source.

unfortunately that's not likely. His info is always up to date. That can be a good thing or bad thing depending on what is going on :)

+1, definitely!

the thing that concerns me is that he says "the Prime is having some serious issues..." he doesn't say Samsung/Google/VZW is/are having the issues, he says the Prime. of course, he could just be typing in shorthand, but his statement signals to me some tech issues.

i think i'll just stay guardedly optimistic, but not get my hopes up too high. the RAZR continues to intrigue me, but i'm still gonna wait until both are out.

I figured it could mean "Prime(release agreement) is having some serious issues".

Depends on what you call up to date. Two day old info is "up to date", its just that it is possible to have MORE updated info like Stevens source. Not dismissing any scenario as a possibility, but personally I put more credibility in Steven. Also, it seems like Stevens source would update him on anything major that would come up since he's been so helpful so far

Edit: it kind of goes back to the whole "imminent" thing

I fully understand your hesitation and uncertainty surrounding the Verizon announcement that they are going to carry the Nexus. I also have moments of second guessing if it will happen but I have been around long enough to know it really is out of my control and if it happens great....but if it doesn't then life will go on and I will find another device to meet my needs.

From the moment I began posting in this thread I have stated that there are reasons this release doesn't look like other phone releases in the past. Those reasons are still in play...Apple, Samsung and Google are still at war because Apple is loosing market share to Android and Samsung they are suing the hell out of Samsung because they feel the heat. Verizon has given up some of it control to Apple in the last year because they felt the pressure from the public to have the iPhone on their network. Well I believe they entered into an agreement with Google and Samsung to carry the Nexus device...they are one of the few carriers that have yet to carry the device and they have the network that Google and Samsung needed to show off their new flagship device...what other carrier has a 4G network capable of providing the stage they needed. Plus Verizon is pissed that Google and Samsung choose to schedule their Nexus / ICS event on their already scheduled announcement of the device that they are in control of...the Moto Razor. Moto is the company that Verizon is really in bed with...and this does not sit well with them but they have no power to control Google and Samsung in this situation.

All of these events create an environment that gives us the feeling that something is wrong or different, I agree things are different this time around...we have five large corporations all competing and all trying to gain an advantage in the market place. There are billions of dollars at stake and the game has changed, it will continue to be different going forward but that is part of corporate America.

I just refuse to allow these events and peoples negative or speculative moods to take me to a place I choose not to be a part of. It's a phone, there will be other phones running Android ICS and if this one comes to Verizon I will buy it day one, but if for some reason it falls through I will find another phone on Verizon that meets my needs and I will buy it and wait for the next holly grail to come around.

I have a 16 hour day at work tomorrow and I should be home right at the time the event begins and I will grab a beer and watch it and then go to bed and hopefully know my next phone. I also know that when I log on to this site there will be members that will be thrilled and members that will be pissed and screaming with disappointment but for all of us I hope this event will not be the end of the world.

I totally agree with this and hopefully add a couple things. First I don't think the iPhone has been the success for Verizon pulling in new customers that they hoped for. Remember the less than stellar sales when it was announced? I think I remember hearing that a lot of the iPhone sales were existing Verizon customers too so really no new profit for Verizon. Now there's a common saying in business, 'if you aren't making more money you're losing money'. Basically businesses and shareholders expect a company to keep making more and more money.

This all is forcing Verizon to have to try something different than they may be comfortable with or have done in the past. I think they realize that the iPhone isn't going to do this for them. Remember they don't really care about selling phones, they want to sell plans. Specifically plans to people who weren't on Verizon before. To do this they need new, hot phones because that's what brings the people in. The iPhone did that for AT&T but it isn't the latest, hotest thing anymore. That market is saturated. You can get it pretty much anywhere. You need something new to pull them in. Verizon also tied themselves to Android before they could get the iPhone. Now that they've seen what the iPhone will and won't do for their profits I think they realize they need Android and a lot of it and let's face it Android as an OS is over iOS now.

Now tying all this together Verizon doesn't care what phones we buy as long as we stay or even more so join their network. I think at this point they'll offer as many phones as financially makes sense. They're are costs involved in making these deals to carry the manufacture's phones so there are limits. Ultimately they will offer whatever makes sense to get us to fork over the money on the bread and butter of what they are, a wireless carrier.

P.S. Did I make my minimum word count? :p:D

My guess is that it is a combination of what the source here said about issues with the announcements particulars and some new deterioration of those negotiations. I would say Sammy will for sure be allowed to sell the devices, but they may have to wait or something.

The little devil on my shoulder keeps whispering that Verizon is going to set the RAZR's price point lower than Nexus, just to sell more of 'em

Watch VZW set the subsidized price for RAZR at $279 or something! Watch 'em!

Yeah, I think it's best to just watch this all play out. Could end up being anything.

One thing is for sure......it's getting closer to the moment of truth :)
