***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

The general population doesn't care about processors or technical specs. As long as the phone is fast enough to give a smooth experience on the phone, they will be happy.

Okay, but who cares about the general population?

I'm worried about myself! :x

Great question, Hothead. And the answer is basically "Who knows."

When you get down to the nitty gritty, we all want this phone simply because it's the "Next Best Thing". We are all salivating over ICS, but we have no idea, really, what it will be like. Will it be revolutionary, or just a facelift? We have a lot of speculations, but in the end we will either be pleasantly surprised or not-so-pleasantly surprised.

Many of us are on OG Droids or DXs that are dying, so we're going to need a new phone anyway, and this is the cutting-edge in the Android software world. We have no idea if it's cutting edge in the hardware world.

Some of us have phones that are perfectly fine, but just want what's new, shiny, and exciting.

But are you missing out if you don't get it? Probably not. In a few months most new phones from Android will be running ICS with better hardware specs. It's a fast-moving industry.

Thanks, kind of what I figured, we all love our toys.:) I admit the Razr being Kevlar is appealing, but ICS and Nexus trump that IMHO. I'll just read some more of this thread tomorrow and go from there.

Thanks again
Regards
HOTHEAD

What if this is just part of Google's master plan of managing expectations?

iPhone took a huge hit because everyone was expecting an iPhone 5. How much better would the public have taken the announcement if a release came out the day before showing pics and benchmarks of a lesser phone? I bet Apple's stock wouldn't have dropped $20 in 10 minutes.

Yes I realize they sold a butt load after that but the release event could've gone much better. Their stock would've jumped instead of dipped.

Anyway, by Samoogle leaking false specs all over the place it keeps people guessing. Nobody and can point to any one device and say, "see, this is the final build and that's what I can expect". With nothing firm, everyone will be happy when the phone is even a little better than some of the specs. Stocks will jump following the announcement and smiles everywhere (minus apple camp)

Brilliant social management of expectations. Well played.

I have to admit, if the new specs are true, I agree that this thing will be a fail. I will be waiting for S3 or something else better in first quarter of 2012.

Screw it I am either going to get the Motorola DynaTAC 8000 or the Nokia Bag Phone

I think these would fit in my Backpack better, wouldn't get lost.

Then there are those like us who live for the specs and spend hours and months waiting and talking, and when they are finally announced we end up reacting like this.

Sorry guys and gals. I have my parachute on and the door is open. I am looking back at really nice people who are going to be very disappointed.

They certainly have managed to keep us guessing, no?

Based on that, my fearless prediction is that they are gonna yank the rug out from under us and we will be blown away by what we see! B-)

...and if not, well, then at least I did my part to spread some positive energy. Regardless, looking forward to the event tonight, hopefully all of our Xmas wishes will come true LOL...

Those of you who are disappointed in the specs that were leaked, what were you expecting?

Well for one I was definitely expecting a magic Bullet food chopper. Also Immortality? Actually as I stated earlier if it has a big beautiful screen, good battery life and call quality, as well as good reception and no lag on good hardware I'm good.

I wish you are right, but don't get your hopes up.

Using Occam's razor, it is simpler to assume that those are the leaked specs, not some conspiracy to manage expectations.

I just can't believe Verizon would release 3 major phones like that on the same day.

You may be right, but they may not have had a choice with the Nexus release date because of contractual agreement with Google for ICS, and may have had the others scheduled already in anticipation of the Holiday season. It doesn't make a ton of sense, but the longer they hold off on all of them, the less they make in contract upgrades and data plans. Just my thought process in the even that it is true.

I agree. But I also can't believe they'd ever allow a pure Nexus either.

In my opinion, it kind of makes sense that they would go for 3 big devices to cater to the masses. (A lot of people will love the RAZR, a lot are HTC fans, and some will want the Nexus). I think they'd sell more than if they just released one phone per month or something.

Can you imagine the marketing they could do for this? It might make for packed Verizon stores nationwide.

It'd be like a buffet!

I'm not to sure about that DynaTAC.... will it fit in my jeans pocket? If not, it's not for me. And what's with all the bezel? Can't Moto do a better job than that?????

They said it would add stability and crack resistance when dropped.;)

Just wanted a bit if humor on the start to a crappy day
