***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Under 12 hours. Holy crap. I feel like that kid on Christmas Eve who can't stop thinking about what might be under the tree come morning... =P

The question was "what time does the motorola event start today?"

Sorry. I totally left that out of the post.

:D:confused:

It starts at Noon Eastern time. 11am Chicago time. I'll be following it, as I'm sure a lot will, just out of curiosity.

I think the specs leaked are correct, because that is what has been being said this whole time. Anyone that says otherwise is in denial. The only surprise I saw was that it has an SD card, which was a good surprise IMO, and it is a little bigger than I expected considering no buttons needed.

Yeah, but how can multiple testers with different specs be in denial? Unless they had an earlier prototype. . . but they did handle the device and they had different specs.

People who are advocating the "shut up and wait" program are right. I'm not going to shut up, of course, but I'll be majorly toning down the freak factor until later tonight. :p

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. :) This is my second post on androidforums and I have been following this thread avidly with my F5 key.

I currently have a Dinc on Verizon and have been waiting for the next phone to upgrade to. After reading all the rumors/blogs/posts, I am considering

Nexus Prime
Motorola Razr
HTC Vigor (Rezound)

Can't wait for the announcements and find out the real specifications!

Android Ice Cream Sandwich on a Google Nexus Prime - YouTube

1. It's definitely not a small phone.
2. The Nexus (all of them) has never been spec monsters.
3. It's still going to be a great phone but you'll have lots of options if it ends up being something you don't want.
4. We are less than 12 hours away now can you feel the hype!?

Is it me or does that guy have a huge thumb? I mean, that thing is like an alien tentacle!

Which lends credence that this phone will even be larger than it appears in the video.

I didn't personally say it was TOO big, but also the SGS2 has capacitive buttons, so that takes up some of the bezel area. But the T-mo one with the 4.5" screen manages to come in under this, AND has off-screen buttons. I just think 5.3 inches is big considering. There will be lots of complaint about bezels I believe.

The Tmobile phone comes in at 5.1" Pretty close when all is said and done.

For those who are disappointed with the GPU for "High-end" gaming. Why don't you just buy a Vita when it comes out for gaming? Or will the argument be now i have to carry two devices?

Dual analogs verse a finger? Phones suck for high-end gaming.

You may be right, but I just can't see them promoting it the way they have, only to have specs that will scare a lot of people away from the phone on general principle without even giving it a chance. Let's face it, the general population will look at the specs of a phone, and just assume that this phone isn't as good as some of the other phones coming out now with a faster processor, higher MP camera, larger battery, etc. Samsung says this as BIG, and I expect they mean it. I also think they mean figuratively big, not just 136mm long. It may not have eveything we all hope for, but these specs just aren't going to blow away John Q Public. Obviously, I could be wrong as well, but it's just fun to speculate, as the name of the thread says.

Welcome to the thread! And if the latest release-date rumors are correct, they'll all be available November 10 and you'll be able to compare them side by side!

I think November is going to be an awesome month to be a VZ customer. And you can't say that very often. :D

Exactly!

1. The quality of the pictures is horrible, at best.
a. They are a picture of a poster with a picture if a phone.
b. The angle of the side view is deceiving, making it look
thicker than it probably is in reality.

2. I seriously doubt that Samsung would be promoting this phone, (Something BIG is Coming!) with specs that are as lackluster as reported in that "leak".

3. If anything, this is in an attempt to throw everyone off so they are pleasantly surprised when it is finally announced.

4. I doubt the Galaxasaurus Nex will have everything we hope for it to have, but honestly, these specs are a step backward, and unrealistic.

RELAX FOLKS! Something BIG is Coming, and it's in less than 12 hours now! :D:D:D:D:D:D

The something big is Ice Cream Sandwich.

Google is a software company and they are more concerned about promoting their latest OS than pushing the latest specs.

The leaked specs on the Galaxy Nexus are on par of today's flagship devices, so they are good enough for Google purposes. They are the same specs as those from the rumors in the past few weeks, so I would be very surprised if they are much different. Don't get your hopes up.

for the lazy like me

Ve1Hq.jpg

I'm not worried so much with the specs anymore, since I'm hoping ICS is tuned enough to this OMAP to still make the UI buttery smooth (crosses fingers) but good god this thing is UGLY!! This does NOT look anything like the samsung teaser video leak, and definitely not in a good way.

say it with me now...... FAIL!!!

Let's hope it atleast feels good in the hand.... I'm so far extremely dissapointed. So much for Verizon customers being "very happy" lol.

I agree, kind of hard for me to play a fast paced, graphic intensive game on my phone when my two big thumbs (although not as big as the tentacle-thumb dude above) are blocking a large portion of the screen...

I couldn't agree more Han.

i think verizon finally wants to see a line out the door for a phone release and i think if this date hold true its def going to happen. which is why ill preorder online. haha

The general population doesn't care about processors or technical specs. As long as the phone is fast enough to give a smooth experience on the phone, they will be happy.

i've got a general verizon question for you guys.

will have a family plan when we switch. will i be able to later add another line for $10/month and get a new smartphone, and not add a data plan to it?

You can do an alternate line upgrade on your extra line if your first line either doesn't already have a smartphone or the contract is up, then switch the new phone to your old number and assign a dumbphone to the new line

The Something BIG is Coming ad is from Samsung, not Google. It has a teaser of the side of the phone, with no mention, tease, or otherwise of the OS. I know ICS is a game changer and will help make this phone amazing, but that's not the marketing I am talking about. Samsung has gladly partnered with Google, but they are advertising their phone.

Wow! We get a big list of unconfirmed specs from a site that no one has ever heard of that has no history of authority or accurate information, and everybody completely freaks out. These specs contradict all the specs (and photos) that we have received from much more reliable sources. We've seen numerous websites advertising this product with bogus pictures and specs. Why should we believe this one is any different?

Again, if the "news" is good, no one believes it, but if the "news" is bad, it's panic mode.

Let's just sit back, take a Valium, bong hit, shot of Jack, whatever your poison, and wait for the official announcement.

John Q. Public does not care about specs. The sooner people realize that specs do not tell the whole story the better off we'll all be.

Agreed. I don't understand how people would want to play Madden 12 on it, for example.

Actually, aside from one ad, WE'VE been the only ones promoting this! :p

The fact that we haven't seen "Something BIG is coming" on TV, and Verizon has been totally quiet on it, might lend credence that it won't be a spec monster we are all hoping it will be.

Also, I might be wrong, but hasn't every Nexus that Google has made been either just on par spec-wise or even a little bit behind everything else that's come out in the high-end phone department at the same time?

I'm thinking that with all the hype we've been piling on this poor thing, it was never going to live up to our expectations.

If it can give me a nice ICS experience with no lag whatsoever and 4G connectivity, I think I will be very, very happy with this HD phone.

(Yes, I'm evening out, everyone. Nothing like a good dose of pretend-Lithium for my forum-diagnosed bipolar disorder.) :p
