Hey wait CK, yesterday you said you wanted the Razor, today you said you wanted the Note and then again today you said you didn't need any phone that your OG Droid was just fine, so now you have changed your position again back to Verizon's Galaxy Nexus that is likely to be a watered down bloat filled below expectations device?

Great to have you back...:D

Ah say, ah say, ah say that boy's as fickle as a
chicken hawk in a hen house.

Sorry guys, this was just posted on Samsung Mobile USA's facebook comment. To be fair though, a Verizon release is probably common knowledge at Samsung, and she just got chewed out for releasing information they're not supposed to.

This is what worries me so much. With the SGS2 we even had a Verizon rep say they will be getting it then retract the statement. I turned out to be one of the Galaxy Tabs instead. But this is part of why we are so doubtful.

Kudos for deft change of subject. It may not matter what the phone supports natively once VLC is released.

I didn't know VLC was releasing to Android!!! That is awesome news! :D

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for making this thread pretty freaking entertaining. I will be sad to see it go in a few weeks (hopefully) but it's like a train wreck...you just can't stop watching.

I've had my eye on this and the Razr and unless V totally screws it up I'm pretty sure I'm getting this. I look forward to our many awesome conversations to come from this "game changing" phone.

And a big shout out to Mr. Solo for introducing me to the phrase "love tunnel"!

Also, I don't think any of us are going anywhere quite yet. This thread will keep going til at least November 3. We'll probably tack on another 10,000 posts for good measure.

Although as you can tell, my productivity today has gone down the tubes.

As I said earlier, don't be surprised if our thread has the highest unemployment rate in the forums when all is said and done. :p

Ugggh. I get so sick of this mythical iOS perfection. I own an iPad and iTouch. Right now the iTouch drains itself of battery juice in just a few days. When it is off! Didn't use to but I guess the hardware is practically abandonware-hardware with the latest OS updates. The iPad has become a crash-fest. Load up more than a few tabs in Safari and cross your fingers that it doesn't all come crashing down when you add a fourth. Not to mention it reloads each tab whenever you click on it. And how about I throw in the crashless app myth. Just look in the App Store and see how many complaints you get from people about apps that crashes. Really, I don't need to read them 'cause I experience it frequently. And then there are all those apps sitting there in the background that don't close.....unless you close them yourself. Think that doesn't do wonders for performance? iOS is FAR from perfect.
Nobody said that iOS was perfect. What I said was that in my experience, the software and hardware marriage worked seamlessly, and in my case that was true. You're clearly in the minority on this one, with the issues you're having. No one said it was perfect. We just said it works. And for the most part, it does.

uh.. with the same size sensor the same amount of light is hitting the entire thing so it makes no difference in brightness. more pixels is less light per pixel, sure, but theres more pixels. if it had one bigass pixel it would be tons of light per pixel, but it would just be one color.

think about it.

It makes no difference in brightness but there is big problem with going higher mega pixels in small camera sensor. Anyone into digital photography knows that smaller the pixel size (higher pixel density), it gets higher digital noise hurting image quality. Especially under low light at high ISO, the image software has to try harder to correct for more noise and results in smeared, bad image quality.

Diffraction occurs at each pixel boundary. If you have more pixels without increasing area, you will have more noise - your signal to noise ratio will (and does) go down, and picture quality decreases.

An HTDV models a camera sensor in reverse. A 1080p TV has about 2 MP per frame.

So, how many MP do you really need? Think about that. :) ;)

You are correct, there is also 37% less resolution for the 5MP. But the capture of the photo depends on what EACH pixel sees. THere is a point where the pixel becomes starved for light in low light situations. Since the sensor size is the same, they have the same amount of light overall, but on the 8MP the light PER PIXEL is less, and so becomes starved for light sooner than the 5MP, and can result in darker pictures like you see in the comparison pics.

These guys explain it better /\

There was no real concrete answer to my questions here. Anyone have any ideas that would like to share?

I don't know, but if anybody finds out, PLEASE ask Steven to update this thread's first post. Also the CPU/GPU thread(s) in the forum.

The hard part is that all of these reviewer claims about "Nexus comes with OMAP 4460, which has a 384MHz GPU!" don't make it clear whether they know that the 1.2GHz in particular is clocked that way or if they're just reading default specs from a website.

He could also just be working on the Nexus assumption, which is probably a good one, but I would like to know more about how this is being done specifically on this device. There are rumors Google and everyone are being pushed for better security to get agreements for stuff like NFC and HD streaming of movies and such. Not to mention Moto said specifically Droid RAZR was locked FOR VZW. So if this is really unlocked and/or unlockable Moto has some real explaining to do.

Moto already posted on its Euro FB page that the RAZR will be unlockable in Europe. so, it looks like here in US, locking the BL really was on VZW's end. as i've said a couple of times, i think this has to do with the fact that, with the RAZR, Moto/VZW are targeting the business customers with all of the encryption and security features - and unlocking a BL would cause problems with that.

Only ONE reason they aren't supposed to be claiming it will be available on VZW.

I can think of at least two.

1) VZW is no longer going to offer it, which I'm assuming is what you're saying
2) VZW is supposed to be the one to announce it, for a variety of reasons, including exclusivity agreements, conflicts with other Droid products and their pre-orders, among others.
