There is a hush on this device and it's US availability for reasons we HAVE to take seriously. It'll probably come, but there is something going on and it may mean nothing in the end, but in reality it shouldn't be totally ignored and be seen as nothing. That seems to be the reality to me.

VZW is an amazing company in many respects, but they are just horrible at marketing as they generate a confrontational relationship with their customers EVEN though they have good service and support. All the other networks are similar, but VZW seems to have this the worse since many of their customers see their better than the rest network as something really hard to leave. The capping of data plans is just making all this worse also.

Ahh. You're talking more about vzw in general. I was talking specifically about the nexus on Verizon. But i agree that Verizon doesn't make an attempt to appeal to Android enthusiasts,
I'm not sure that strategy is hurting them much. Once this phone releases on Verizon then Verizon will be back in everyone's good graces with assumptions that since they release an unlocked, vanilla device once every 2 years, that they might start doing it more. Which they probably won't.

You are obviously missing the point. To keep pounding home the mantra that people are saying the device is canceled, delayed or not coming proves there is a huge disconnect.

With all due respect to BMX he seems like an awesome guy and all but he didn't know the Etna/Bionic was cancelled so I don't think he's the most reliable source of information. I understand he tells people what they want to hear and it makes everyone all warm and fuzzy but I think we should just stick to what is known at this time.

The Galaxy Nexus has been revealed, it's supposedly being released on Verizon's network, No OFFICIAL US carrier announcements, there are rumored "problems" surrounding it (Verizon's version).

Thats pretty simple and straightforward. Lets deal with THAT.

So really what we have is a new highly anticipated device released 24 hours ago in Hong Kong.

A failure of Verizon to announce their intentions within that 24 hour period which has caused some to question their intentions.

A rumor communicated by one person who loves attention and dislikes Verizon indicating an issue with the device having issues playing nicely with Verizon's 4G LTE network.

Not that anyone asked my opinion but maybe we should give Verizon a chance to make their announcement in the days ahead, they could care less when you think they should announce their intentions, I'm sure they have a reason for not reacting to the Nexus announcement as if it was their only device on their table.....iPhone 4s, motor razor, HTC Rezound.

Also do some research of 4G LTE phones carried by Verizon....and you will see they have all had the same 4G LTE network issues, most have been resolved with software updates. Its not a new issue and I'm sure the Nexus can manage well enough to make it into our hands before to long.

Despite personal opinions of P3 he does understand the logistics of a release.

He's getting dumped on because he doesn't tell people what they want to hear.

I've been expecting to throw down $700 for the 32gb. that's what i was planning on anyway. if it's cheaper than heck yeah!

Well, despite my apparent lack of understanding of the logistics (which I don't deny, by the way), I would imagine that large companies like Samsung, Google, and Verizon don't share that fault. I'm sure they have similar logistical issues with every new phone. Looking back, we see that most phones don't have a release date at the time of their announcement. I don't see why this one has so much more doubt surrounding it.
 
Calm down, everyone. Be respectful to each other. One thing we all have found out is that with all the speculation, we don't know until we actually know. The same hold true concerning the Verizon release date. Fighting or getting unpleasant over it just betrays an over-exaggerated sense of enthusiasm channelled through an immature set of communication skills.

I don't want to see friction. I just want to see respect one for another here. It's not me. It's site rules.

It's not as if anyone here (including you or I) is proclaiming any solid, true fact. This entire 14k post thread is based on opinions, I don't see how it's any different now :rolleyes:

Who knows and not sure I care? I just know the hush from everyone official is not a smart thing to do when they know so much is known from all the 4GLTE and VZW stuffs they didn't hide in the Official Google press shots, not to mention pretty hard info from leaks. VZW could have handled this already without even making any huge commitments, but they haven't.

They have to allow the device to happen now and it could even end up on the original schedule, but if'n VZW were smart they would have found a way to be included in the original press event and went with the open ended November availability. I suppose the first LTE device stuffs from CES not going down well in the end might have them a bit shy, but this is 2nd gen devices and they DID do the RAZR event with no qualms and same release window and it was Moto themselves that REALLY burned them on the CES stuffs. I would probably have a near puke moment if I saw an exchange between high level VZW and Moto peeps "planning" a device launch.
 
I want the nexus on Verizon as much as the next person, but if it doesn't come, it doesnt come. My life goes on. The tech world goes on and honestly, verizon will put out nice phones that will be rom'd (HTC etc). Yes. I know. The battery life. God forbid.

Enjoy life. Come back in a few days. I know i'm not coming back to this forum until Monday. I want to enjoy my life and have fun. Not be bitter, negative or whining over a phone that may or may not drop. Much more in live to look forward to. Much more gadgets to come out.

I honestly don't want to dig them up, link them and then subsequently explain them. I don't want to change your opinion or try to prove you or anyone right or wrong. I think jasaero summed it up rather nicely above (I quoted him)

We should just settle in and see what transpires over these next few days. I'm sure we will go on another crazy ride rather soon. Actually I'm sure of it :)

Thats ok, I understand.

I've got the next two weeks off and really I don't need to be this involved in any phone. I'll get my info from my three family members who work for Verizon and wait for the announcement whenever it comes.

sooo... Moving onto non-carrier specific galaxy nexus talk, I'm interested in who is planning to root/ ROM it shortly after release? As much as i love CM7, I'm considering just rooting the GN and leaving it stock. A lot of the CM functionality that i like seems to be baked into the OS now.

the advantages of ICS over cm7 are waaaay too good to install any rom on it until cm9 comes out. The only devices i see roms are good for are non stock android devices (anything that is not nexus)

Edit: BTW i'm all caught up again in the middle of the night. read every post from page 1 and dont plan on stopping till i have the gnex in my hand!

Definitely wouldn't go back to a GB ROM, but I'm not sure i would even run CM9 on it. As good as CM is, it won't be QUITE as good as stock. And it will get updates a little faster than CM9.
