Pessimistic doesn't always translate into realistic.

Sometimes, pessimistic is just being a Dbag.

It's kinda realistic though as nothing about what is going on at the moment is smart from a marketing perspective for VZW. The audience for this device is going to hate on VZW before Google 99 out of 100 times if there is questions of why it's not official on VZW yet when we KNOW it was intended for them from the get go more or less. The ONLY reason VZW hasn't broke down and admitted they will make sure this device happens is they are actively resisting it for some egotistical Verizon reason when they get annoyed with some device/OEM as they often do. There is ZERO reason for example that LG should get so little attention from VZW, but pretty sure there was a falling out there that I doubt LG was at huge fault over so much as VZW is just not friendly with OEMs in a way they should be.

Big Red is currently busy shoving Motorola devices down the throats of its consumers. They're dumping a lot of money into the Bionic and RAZR in hopes that it will sell. They don't realize no matter how much they do this, if the consumer doesn't want it we won't take it. We're not sheep. Verizon has yet to realize this.

Hi!

Just checking in!

SO NO NEXUS ON VERIZON??!!!

OKAY!!!

SEE YOU LATER!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Seriously, guys, calm down!!

I love the Shinning, our biggest downtown movie theater had this showing last Thursday night as a part of the October fright night series and it was sold out in a mega theater full of college kids....including myself and my GF not close to college age, Jack is great in this movie....just saying :p

Are you kidding me? Lol

Heck no! I want some choices and was seriously thinking of getting it despite some of my reservations. I was just going to throw in the towel and put a case on it and move on.

Ive been waiting for this thing for close to a year im not happy at all. I just saw this potentially coming so its not a shocker. Kind of expected it if that makes sense?

I think we here are the ones who build things up only to fall further. Samsung & Google never promised anything.

If she lands on the Big Red I'm in. Coming off the OG to that thing will be nice.

Yes but he's the only one being realistic at this point.

The Doubting Thomas is back ! :D Great to see you again. You took leave of us for like an hour earlier. I seem to remember a "Monkeys" video about believing or something. Guess that guy is gone with the wind again.

[slight rant on]
On a more serious note, I think we all know you doubt this VZ release and are looking for any reason to support that theory (deny if you will), and now you found a reason to support that pessimism. I just don't see what pessimism accomplishes, especially when repeated over and over and over. We hear the mantra CK, we just don't believe it. Certainly not from something P3Droid says.. Most of us trust BMX ( as well as all of the other "evidence" if you will). He says it's still coming, and that's good enough for me. :)

From a hardware design perspective the RAZR is pretty amazing. Really annoying it's all locked up and will have to rely on hacks or moto/vzw for updates, but the build of the device makes it VERY appealing and is the only reason I am not worked up at all about anything TOO much other than typical annoyance as expressed above with VZW. They are what they are though and will probably be force to make this Nexus happen and I will buy it over the RAZR in a heartbeat.

Shoot I am almost to the point I might always try and buy the best device VZW isn't spending marketing money on in the future just to spite what they want me to buy.

I myself will hate on VZW until EVERY Android device on their network is unlockable for ease of custom rom playing/tweaking/devloping as was supposed to be half the fun with Android when Google decided to make it open. So really my bigger complaint isn't that they are messing around with this Nexus launch so much as awesome devices like the Droid RAZR are locked up so hard I can't really even bring myself to consider them.

Meh, too much hating. The carriers are how they are. No one likes them. I don't root/ROM anyway, so it's of no concern to me in the least. I am definitely in the minority in these forums about ROMing, but in the vast majority overall. IMO, as long as the vast majority of customer don't care, the carriers won't change. Not much use getting angry I say, doesn't solve too much.

Now for some ICS love.. Can't wait !

You love to jump to assumptions. Is it conceivable that the largest carrier in America has a marketing department that knows more than you? Is it possible they are waiting to announce a device that they are not going to heavily market? Maybe they flat out don't care what this thread thinks because the vast majority of the people that buy their phones will never know this whole "event" took place.

Why would they potentially harm the sales of a device they would rather sell by announcing a device they care less about at the same time?

Its obvious Verizon doesn't like unlocked bootloaders a la they don't like the nexus. But there IS a high end phone releasing in November with a locked bootloader and all their bloatware preinstalled. Probably two of them once the vigor is announced. Why rush to announce and market a phone you aren't crazy about and have it compete against two other devices that you are crazy about?

Can we stop with the "sky is falling" stuff until we have an actual reason to think this phone isn't coming to Verizon?

I have no doubt that Verizon is getting a variant of the Nexus. What I doubt is how much freedom their "Nexus" will have, IE, locked bootloader, free tethering, etc. Verizon does everything that they can to lock their network. Between them and AT&T, I am starting to see AT&T as the lesser of two evils.

If Verizon doesn't have a true, unlocked Nexus device by the time my contract is up, I'm getting a full-priced unlocked GSM phone on AT&T, and setting up a family plan. This would allow my wife to get an annual iPhone upgrade, and I can run the unlocked phone of my choice. I loved my Incredible, but waiting on official buggy updates and having to run a custom ROM just to get close to vanilla really pissed me off. I won't play the carrier game anymore.

That's the unsubsidized retail price. Go to the VZW website and look at any phone under month-to-month pricing and you will see the same. If you read the article, it goes on to say that it is likely that a 2-year contract would bring the price to $299.99.

I still feel for the guys who are going to pay full retail. We all knew it would be expensive, but seeing the actual estimate in print is a different story. Good night all.

Well I wouldn't say it's serious hate as you are assuming so much as the generalized hate you allude too in agreement no one likes any carriers. If the FCC won't help fix the hosed up carrier setup we have, device openness is our last chance force them to compete with each other more proper like. LTE and SIMs on all networks will help with this also, but we really need to be demanding more open use of the networks or they will just continue to get worse and all behave the same and Balkanise us customers based on each of the networks schtick. Basically though WE as customers need to behave in a way that forces the carriers to actually focus on providing us good services rather than being device p1mps and network service providers both at the same time which only serves to annoys all of us that understand our phones don't really cost $0-300. The first step though really is to get VZW to let up on their control of devices in general, including how they expect all devices on their network to be all locked down in every way.

Well you missed a lot of developments obviously so I won't get into them.

You are obviously missing the point. To keep pounding home the mantra that people are saying the device is canceled, delayed or not coming proves there is a huge disconnect.

With all due respect to BMX he seems like an awesome guy and all but he didn't know the Etna/Bionic was cancelled so I don't think he's the most reliable source of information. I understand he tells people what they want to hear and it makes everyone all warm and fuzzy but I think we should just stick to what is known at this time.

The Galaxy Nexus has been revealed, it's supposedly being released on Verizon's network, No OFFICIAL US carrier announcements, there are rumored "problems" surrounding it (Verizon's version).

Thats pretty simple and straightforward. Lets deal with THAT.

If the RAZR were unlocked I'd snatch it up immediately. It's really too bad they have neutered an awesome piece of hardware. Senseless (no pun intended)

I am not sure you picked up on my point. They shouldn't be doing things that perpetuate the belief you yourself expressed above that they really don't like unlocked devices. They should be embracing them so those of us that are big on this sorta thing can tout not only the awesome network and devices, but also the awesome support of development community that VZW provides. They are just not embracing Google's approach as they fear them. The reality is there is nothing to fear if the understood how to exploit a connection to Google. I am not just talking about ad campaigns and device release logistics.

VZW is an amazing company in many respects, but they are just horrible at marketing as they generate a confrontational relationship with their customers EVEN though they have good service and support. All the other networks are similar, but VZW seems to have this the worse since many of their customers see their better than the rest network as something really hard to leave. The capping of data plans is just making all this worse also.

Look, the fact remains, you're being more pessimistic than even P3Droid, and that's saying something!
Look what he just posted:
I believe that the Galaxy Nexus is going to make its debut on Verizon. Is it having some problems, yes it is. Do I expect them to be ironed out, yes I do.
So there you have it. Now there is literally no knowledgeable source doubting the release of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. I know this won't ease your fears at all, but I hope we can at least stop arguing about it here on the forum.

I'm not sure about CK's total thinking but I tend to agree with him.

There is a hush on this device and it's US availability for reasons we HAVE to take seriously. It'll probably come, but there is something going on and it may mean nothing in the end, but in reality it shouldn't be totally ignored and be seen as nothing. That seems to be the reality to me.

There is no evidence that the deal has been canceled. There is just FUD from sketchy sources with little credibility Just because one random person says that there might be a delay does not mean its true.

There is real official evidence that the phone will be released on Verizon including Facebook posts, Samsung's website and an official video. They come from credible sources and confirm information from previous rumors.

It is safe to assume that the device is coming to Verizon based on the evidence. Relax

Precisely....nothing more than that. I should use that as my signature lol

Thank you for understanding bruthaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Funny how all of these rumors about these so called problems only popped up after they didn't mention Verizons name in HK last night. Everyone that is saying stuff about it not coming to Verizon is worrying about nothing or are just trying to stir up crap.

There is no delay and it will be here starting next month.
