Hah. Yep. To me and you anything they say means NOTHING. Who KNOWS all the reasons VZW crap cans phones and this was a big long in the making device VZW had been cooperating on all along.....but then VZW suppresses ANY mention of them in relation to this Nexus?? Obviously the Samsung and Google peeps weren't all aware they weren't supposed to make the connection.

Just went to a verizon store to pick up a usb cable (yes, I know I can get them for $2 on ebay but I needed one today), and here is how the convo went:

me- so when are you guys getting that new phone? (I just said new phone to see if she knew what I was talking about)

her- the samsung nexus?

me- yeah

her-should be VERY soon because we just completed training on it the other day.

me- awesome, how much is it going to cost?

her- well, it's 4g, so it's going to be 299 I believe





So there you have it. I didn't even mention the name of the phone and she knew what I was asking about, and said they all just got done training for the phone. :D:D

I think they might be confusing devices, since the manager at one of the local corporate stores is part of the regional training team and is aware of nothing.

Fortunately, it's right around the corner. So this is what I found out with the following bullets:

1. The guy I know at the local VZ store is the manager and I have a good relationship with because I rooted his OG and his T-bolt for him. Not a buddy, per se, but we definitely know each other.

2. This is what he offered from the perspective of a local VZ store rep: They know the phone is made by Samsung, not HTC (srsly).

3. Nothing more. I'm not kidding. Having said that, he did admit that the stores with technicians sometimes get phones earlier than normal stores and they don't have any techs, so it's possible the aforementioned training took place...but they most definitely haven't been trained.

4. To make his point, he logged into the system called VZ Train and showed me the online web page and the only training for him to do was iCloud training for the iPhone. I literally saw the web page with my own eyes.

So in summary, that VZ store knows less than we all do. Not to say that the other store isn't getting training, but the manager didn't think it was the case unless it was a tech the previous poster was speaking to, which is definitely possible. It wasn't in Cellebrite, it wasn't in their training, they know Jack Sullivan.

Such good memories of threats to the poor fedex delivery people and I think kittens were involved at one point.


IF it's 2 weeks out it would seem feasible for pre orders to start on the 3rd and shipments to start about 2 weeks after that.

So you went to an authorized RESELLER, not a corporate store, right?

Oh BTW my point of contact is taking a 2-week sabbatical :( so I have no news here. I'm relying on you guys now...

I'm not sure, actually, to be honest Chief. It's possible the store is a reseller, I just don't know. Only thing I could add is that I got my OG and T-bolt there on the release date. Would that matter? Would resellers get phones on the actual dates or later? They all wear Verizon shirts?!

No, that sounds like a corporate store. If they're a "Verizon Wireless" store, and not "Random Joe Bob's Wireless", then they're a corporate store.

The fact that it's not in Cellebrite at your location sounds disconcerting.

So today I was driving out in the middle of the woods when I came across a Verizon store. All of a sudden a white BMW pulls up. The guy that gets out if the vehicle has a special container with the letters SGN on the side of it. When I approached him and asked about the contents, he told me it was confidential and that I would know more in November. SGN is coming to VZW and this is proof.

My feeling is that various aspects of the device such as BL config and other things were bait switched on VZW by Google at the last minute. Not sure Google is playing that dirty, but it was either that or vague agreements on such things that weren't really seriously getting nailed down on specifics until the last minute.

There's plenty of reasons why VZW wouldn't want Samsung/Google to announce it.

Maybe Verizon wants to announce it themselves? On their own schedule? So it doesn't conflict with their other upcoming launches? They did just announce a phone earlier that day.

They have an agenda and its quite likely Samsung/Google's timeline doesn't match with their timeline. So we wait...it's really not a big deal.

The Bionic was literally announced officially the day before it released.

And for the last time regarding the bootloader....THERE ARE PLENTY OF DEVICES ON VERIZON WITH UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS.

SSShhhhhhhhh...we don't have to get THAT started do we? Besides, I'm a MIT guy. My brother went to UT Law, thus the rooting (football not phone) interest! This has hijack written all over it, so I'm letting it go and taking a deep breath...:)
