It's not necessarily true that it has to be a big performance hit at all.

I run a full Ubuntu Linux on my phone, with the full desktop sometimes projected to my laptop courtesy of VNC. Simultaneously and parallel to that, I can make calls on my phone and run other Android apps.

The secret sauce is that it's easy to create another virtual machine in ram, and run a full Linux in that *controlled essentially as another Android app by the system. *

I'm pulling this stunt running stuff like the full Open Office and GIMP.

Like I said, I don't know firsthand, but based on that, I would think something as simple as WebTop would be a cake walk with good hardware.

Sorry I didn't have the easy answer. Sorrier it seems I rarely do. (sigh) Details here if you're still interested. The diagram shows the desktop projected to my phone courtesy of AndroidVNC, but can go as easily to a desktop via wifi/VNC.

Fantastic....my concerns are put at ease between your's and jasaero's posts. It was a major concern for me to be completely honest.

I just wanted to check in, solely because of all the negativity surrounding the possible release/cancellation of the Verizon version of SGN.

I talked with 4 different (Verizon) people today,(information deleted) and all say that Verizon is DEFINITELY getting this device in "early November". I can't say if it's the 3rd or the 10th, because I honestly don't know, but I haven't been told that the date of the 3rd has changed. That could go either way. But it will DEFINITELY hit stores early November. (Information deleted) Spoke to a recent tester of the device, and he/she says that there is NO PROBLEM with 4G connectivity, and he's not sure where that rumor came from.

You're not going to see anything resembling the push that RAZR is going to get with marketing, but it will be in stores. Early November.

In other news I have waited so long to purchase a phone that I now have 2 lines ready for upgrades. I was on a yearly rotation grrrrrrrr. Have to re-time them again

Steven: Your style of Modding (in addition to that of EarlyMon, OTC, et al) is legit. I hope to be considered for guide one day, btw. I know I need to spend more time posting, assisting, and perhaps owning more devices to broaden my knowledge base for this to become a reality. That said you Mods inspire me. I am currently working on a 2.2 ROM for the LG Vortex and am loving it! Anyway...I am rambling!

Bottom line: you are doing a fantastic job and Mod the toughest thread in which I have participated. Thank you for your care of the community; your hard work (all Mods) is appreciated.
