the new Galaxy Nexus-who's ready(verizon)

Still deciding between this and the Razr. Never owned a Samsung or a Nexus phone. Still lovin' my DX so I'm leaning toward Moto. Will wait till after launch of both so I can get my grubby little hands on them in the store.

That's the best thing about having a great phone. I'm not in a rush to upgrade, but If something good is on the horizon, I can patiently wait and see. I lurked in the Bionic forum after launch and decided to skip it. I'll be doing the same with these two phones. Three if you count the Vigor. I'm about 50% Razr, 45% Prime, 5% Vigor right now.

And you know what they say about rumors. Going by the same rumor mill, the Nexus will have 50% better battery life than the Bionic.

BMX tweeted that he can gets 6hrs use on the Nexus (full use). Many were disappointed until he clarified that he runs down a Bionic in 4hrs.

Take that for what it's worth.
 
I've spent quite a bit of time lately in the Nexus threads.

I'm going into the Tuesday night announcement with an open mind. There are a certain set of minimum specs that I will accept.

I've always liked the build quality of Moto phones. Also thier call quality and reception has been some of the best. I'd like to like the RAZR, but not sure if I want a device that only has a qHD screen.

Plus the unlocked bootloader, and vanilla experience of the Nexus is swaying me hard.

Again, I'll wait until the announcement to make a full decision.
 
Im in, leaving iphone after 4yrs for it most likely, if that is disappointing which i doubt it will, i will probably get the Galaxy S2 possibly.
 
It is a mix of hardware and software for my phone.
Iphone software, does what it supposed to do. I'd buy one.
Hardware wise, it's screen too small, non removable battery, no hdmi out (use it for games and movies), non removable memory (lots of movies on multiple cards for long flights and military trips).
Motorola is out for me. My DX, even with the latest, it still reboots daily. I'll try the Prime if it's vanilla. Then I can rule out moto blur as the source of all my android pains. If it still sucks, maybe the Iphone 5 will be next.
 
I will be cashing in an early upgrade for the Prime if I like what i hear on Tuesday. My X has survived through idk how many flashes, sbfs and roms and STILL works better then my dad's Bionic, and MIUI is such a fantastic rom, but I'm ready for a new phone and LTE, and the Nexus looks to be what I want
 
I'm still unsure after seeing the announcement tonight. I was ready to pre order it if it really blew me away, but it didn't. Not to say it's not great, just didn't blow me away like I thought or wish it would. And apparently it won't have a removable microSD card. I had just purchased a 32gb one for this phone specifically. Oh well.

I agree. ICS will be nice, but not game changing. It doesn't knock my socks off. I do like the camera software upgrades.

You got one part right (no sd card), but the battery is definitely removable.
 
I'll wait until it is rooted then get one. I may even wait until the first price drop... I am still content with my X running 2.2 rooted. Yes, I am intentionally running 2.2. :)
 
....i'm on the bubble about the G-Nex...to be honest i'm not sure what i'm going to do at the moment. I may go on hiatus for a while and just ride the ol DX out for another 6 months. There are three phones that are on my list and i can't make up my mind on which one to go with. They all have great specs in their own way that the other ones don't....
 
The G-nex may not have outrageous specs, but the one reason I want it
Its a Nexus Phone

First to be updated
No Bloat
No Blur, sense, wiz, blah blah
First to be updated
And if history stands true, it'll keep getting updates even after new nexus phones comes out ala N1

Under impressed with this phone.

Just a 1.2 Ghz dual processor...come on Motorola. Goodness my X runs a 1Ghz single core right now and I'm not hurting. 5 MP camera...Boo! Crappy 1.3 MP front facing camera (reminds me of my Motorola Q days) :(.

The ONLY two things I like about this phone is the 1080 video and the screen. So, I can say I am sticking with my rooted Droid X until something worth while comes out. I have no interest in getting locked into another long term contract over something just barley better than what I've got now. :D

Unlocking bootloaders...well, Google did buy Motorola Mobile...correct? So, we COULD see some unlocking in the future. Not saying it will happen right away, but I feel it's a better possibility now more than ever.
 
It was my top choice, but not enough to replace the DX (that I'm loosing interest in). The freaking hard buttons don't shut off! Still after all the updates! That and the screen is too bright on night mode for use as a clock. LCD sucks for that. I definitely need AMOLED.
The prime sucks on a few factors that are vital to me:
No mSD card. No where to put movies for my week long trips with no cell service. I take movies to the gym and watch them while running, etc.
No HDMI. I use it for hotel rooms and movies.
1.2ghz, not much of a jump for a top of the line phone.
The cloud based storage doesn't work for me. And, it won't work with those that have limited data plans. Silly idea to force it on people without the ability to add another 32gb card for a few bucks.
I'll wait for the Galaxy S III in Jan/Feb/March time frame. DX lives on till then.

Im glad im not the only one who wasnt blown away byxeither the RAZR or G-Nex...

Unfortunately both have their own set of plusses and minuses in my eyes...and will make me hesitate to upgrqde early
 
We are always going to see incremental enhancements. We get a new android phone almost weekly, so small improvements should be expected. If we only got one phone per year (like fruity devises) I'd expect big improvements per release. It's a dual edged sword for sure.

Yeah, I'm hoping that when my upgrade comes up in March, there will be something that blows them both away. I think quad-core is a possibility in that time frame.

Agreed...the only thing ibwould say in response to that is that I had hoped the new Nexus device would separate itself from the pack a little more...

As for the OEMs (Moto, HTC, etc...) they have completely lost the concept of having a flagship device and personally I don't like that...

To be honest it feels like the last "flagship" device Moto released was the OGX...everything since has been QUICKLY replaced by incrementally better devices
