***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I feel ya there...an extra week feels like so long when it really isn't. I've been upgrade eligible since July with my OG Droid that's limping along, completely maxed out on memory.

An OG Droid would be a nice upgrade from the four year old POS Blackberry that I'm currently rocking. I shouldn't complain too much I guess; it only froze four times today... *sigh*

And with that I'm done venting. I just figured you guys would be a more sympathetic audience than my wife, who made it quite clear that she doesn't give two s***s about this. ;)

Well it does have a processor CAPABLE of 1.5 GHz. And perhaps the initial testing was done with the processor at full clock, but battery life was not sufficient for the decision makers, and they underclocked it during testing.

OK. I can understand that. Then what could be three other specs different from GSM/HSPA+ version?

Your welcome to your opinions here, Steven's source has been checked out and verified by the powers at this site so if you choose not to believe then so be it.

You don't have to believe me either but if you check I posted Tuesday that a family member who works for VZ had the release dates of the Nexus change from Nov. 10th to Nov. 17th on their computer screen at work. They are also the same source that is currently taking the Online training course for Android 4.0 at VZ.

These dates have been subject to change all along and because VZ has never come out and given a release date of the Nexus you could say that the Oct. 27th...Nov.3rd...Nov.10th and now the Nov. 17th dates are all rumored and until VZ officially releases the Nexus we just won't know for sure now will we.

By the way...has VZ officially confirmed a release date for the Razor yet...I don't think so, their wordage was...will ship no later than Nov. 10th:eek:

Everything is in limbo except the fact that VZ announced that they will carry the Nexus and it will be released before the end of the year so if you want it you will have to wait for them to release it or move onto another device that has a release date you can agree with and believe in.

:);):o:D

Thank you, I know I'm welcome to my opinions, which is why I'm expressing them. I appreciate Steven updating the OP with what is known right now, but still feel that whomever is the source is nothing more than someone browsing the web and passing along information. People who leak confidential information don't give away their identity. The whole idea of leaking information that is confidential is to not get caught, and that includes giving someone your identity.

"The source" has yet to leak anything that is exclusive to this site first, what information was exclusive has panned out to not be correct. I can easily go from site to site compile a list of leaks and PM someone claiming to have information. I'm just saying that Stevens source has provided less than credible information thus far.

Well, when I read the BGR specs I assume you are refering to, they seem pretty spot on. Even the near thanksgiving launch (one week before). Unless they have modified it to make themselves look better.

edit: Ok, when I look at it, Name (Galaxy Nexus 4G), carrier (AT&T) are two that are not right, but not sure if those qualify as specs.

Steven....can you tell us if this was Love Tunnel or Tester that provided the info?

This was from "The Source", who initiated the PM after an internal conversation s/he had with someone, but I can't say who because that might jeopardize the source.

Yeah he quoted it as rumor, but makes perfect sense to me with what we just heard from The Source.

^^this.

Steven's source, as well as Panda, are now saying that the GNex release date is 11/17.

Interesting

I can't believe that Steven would post that info without having first exercising due diligence to ensure the source was legitimate, by somehow verifying their identity, or having previous info turn up good.

I did.

I take anything "the source" says with a grain of salt. I still feel that someone is playing Steven, and acting as an inside source. They haven't broken any news before other sites leaked information, and what information they've given has either been repeated from another source, or inaccurate. I wouldn't put much credence in the date of the 17th unless other sites are posting it as well.

Wow, that makes me a fool.

Agree like the spec changes but wouldnt specify. I mean they said spec changes why not elaborate since they would have already broken a nda if they had one.

Ahhh, I wondered about that. Wondering over.

I've toyed with the passing thought that Steven IS the Source. I know it's wild speculation but makes me smile

Steven is NOT smiling. I won't defend my integrity. I have some thinking to do. Not a good day.

I agree with you that there are people that will do this. But you are kind of selling Steven short that he would start reporting info from this person without some history or proof. I would not trust someone claiming to have info without having proof, or history of being right, and I have to believe as a mod of a respectable android forum, Steven is even more careful before sharing info.

edit: And he speaks for himself ^^

Oh you got one too, huh? I get a blank nod and the deer-in-the-headlights look. I got my Darling Bride an OG Droid in March and still have to show her how to work the most basic of functions

Is there a Verizon jitterbug with a data plan? :p

I'm not selling Steven short. Steven seems like a nice guy, people take advantage of nice guys. That and you can only go so far as to verify what someone is sending you. I'm sure any number of people can come off as convincing if they've got an ounce of tech savyness in them.

Yeah I got my wife a Droid 3, and its totally wasted on her. She doesn't even know how to clear the notification bar (or doesn't bother to, one of the two). I tried to sit down with her two weeks straight after she got it to show her how it works, and she was just like, if I need something, I will just ask you to do it for me.

When BGR first broke out that spec, none of our sources (vz_wired, BMX, Steven's) said it's correct and made us to believe there are four things wrong like processor speed, battery size, camera MP. And even if we get that it's just under-clocked same CPU in Nexus, there are still three more things they should explain. I don't think obvious difference of radio on verizon one counts.

Stephen58 is the highest quality individual on this board. I take anything he says as accurate without mis-representation.

I know first hand that employees may be told certain info, and then the company changes things in the end. I think the source is providing the most accurate information to his ability. Things change, and not everyone is privy to that info. I don't fault the source for this, it's just business.

But Stephen is one of the good guys.

Are you so sure that the information found at the other sites or tweeted by others didn't start from this site?

You make a very bold statement so have you taken the time to verify that every bit of info our source provided was already released by other sources before it was given to Steven?

I understand your point but its an opinion and given that its only your opinion I can state my opinion is that much of the rumors and source info found on other sites blogs and twitter started right here in this thread.

Both opinions are equally plausable but I choose to believe my opinion at this point.

Does an entire family who looks at you with glazed over eyes count too??
I say 'phone' or 'OS' and they immediately roll their eyes.

Agreed. Does anyone still remember VZ_wired? When BGR first leaked Nexus spec, he said there are four things wrong there. Even BMX, steven's source agreed to it and everyone here believed processor clock would be 1.5Ghz. But BGR leak spec turned out to be exactly right at HK event. So I wonder if vz_wired was trolling or not.

But since we still haven't seen the real spec of Verizon version yet, I guess there is still chance to see bigger battery and a few minor differences.

I think vz_wired was the real deal...just a hunch, no proof. If s/he was real, though, it's completely possible that there was a test model clocked to 1.5Ghz that s/he saw. For unknown reasons, they decided that it was a better bet to release it with the processor underclocked somewhat. No trolling, no consipiracy. BGR and vz were both correct. I don't remember what other specs might have been wrong, though.

I thanked you because I like to stroke the Verizon reps. I know they are just earning a living and I am not hard on them but I do toy with em.
I think they play more stupid then they are some times. And I would like to be a fly on the wall in the break room on how they commented on you after you left.

I don't begrudge them their sales opportunities as they are only trying to make a living. I also wasn't trying to be a douche, but I could have horned into their Bionic party to let the guy know about the Razr/Rezound/Nexus.

For certain purchases I should be made to wear a name tag that says "not salespitch friendly". I buy things, but I don't like being sold stuff. :D

Note that both the "source" and VZ_wired stated that there were four things wrong with the BGR specs. Once the source showed up, VZ_wired stopped posting. They are the same, not trolling, but felt more comfortable PM'ing Stephen instead.

Hmmm... just seen a review of the galaxy note and think I may have a problem... it may work better for me. Sometimes my Droid x is too small and my xoom is too big. Just got to wait for a us release date and hope verizon will pick it up.

OK. Back to the nexus chatter

Edit: wow 18k woot!
