***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Am I missing something? Was there ever an "Official Release Date" given or is this still speculation? I thought the Rizound and Nexus were both the 10th.

I checked the OP and it's not updated with an "official release date" either.

Yes it is. The topic title has "Verizon's release date 11/17!" in it ;)

nothing "official" yet. the only thing that is official from VZW is the press release saying that it's coming "this year." however, the Source and Panda have both said it's looking like the 17th.

Yet more bad news for our US friends, Samsung Galaxy Nexus to launch on 17 November - Telegraph.

Obviously this could be bad info, but it's not looking good.

If it hits in Europe first, this is just another classic case of Verizon screwing things up. As much as I like the network, they're absolutely bumbling fools when it comes to device releases. Google's flagship device should hit the shelves in the US before or concurrently with any other country, as a matter of principle.

Could be a PLAY ON WORDS. They are talking about the HSPA+. In the Samsung Note presentation he said the "HSPA" version will release in UK 0n the 17th and else where soon after..

All we can do is grab our backsides with both hands and hold on till it gets here eh?

There was a thread here on "why verizon hates samsung?". I thought it was nothing more than Verizon prefers Moto due to their locking BL. Maybe there is some truth in it? Meanwhile AT&T seems to be more friendly to Samsung as they are getting LTE SGSII just a few months after getting SGSII.

AT&T Announces the 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Nov. 6 for $249.99

So now that we've got the Re-crap being advertised in Verizon stores, I'm really hoping that HTC's unveiling on Thursday reveals a release date for Monday the 14th. I know it's unusual for Verizon, so if that rumor picked up by Droid-Life holds true (RAZR on the 10th, Re-crap on the 14th, SGN on the 17th), then the 17th should be a lock.

I doubt we get any release-news for the SGN before this Thursday. Don't want to get in the way of Verizon's golden-haired babies now, do we.

Edit: By "Re-crap", I of course am referring to the unmentionable, disgusting name by which it's called, and not the device's presumed quality.

**end disclaimer**

Let's be careful about appearing to be over frustrated at other members in posts.

It's better for the thread, and for each member's posting rights here, to just step back and figure out a respectful way to convey those frustrations.. and even better to just log out and make a sandwich and cup of tea, rather than risk receiving an infraction/banning etc over such silly things as another member's attitude about phones, etc. ;)

Some folks really do not have an application for an interchangeable battery meaning they go to work and home and are never into long usages but still....... the option and availability is in thinking of the consumers needs.

I wonder if the Mfg gets off cheaper not needing to produce the spares for store stock? It's pretty obvious the advantage is not for the consumer.

They will sell millions of them.
Well, it would be advantageous to the manufacturer to make or buy more of an item due to economies of scale.

The more batteries sold, period, drives down the overall cost throughout the supply chain. Since Apple sells a gajillion identical phones, they can run a few thousand extra batteries for warranty work.

The Razr won't go anywhere near apple numbers, so they are much more screwed by low quantities.

Maybe the reason VZW is giving all this attention to Moto is contractual...

I would hope that they are really not as ignorant as they seem concerning other phones... :o

Or the bloatware installed on the device that Verizon makes a ton of money on probably.

Unless of course they are using a standard battery that is being used in other devices, but maybe is packaged slightly different being that it is internal and not removable.

This is why Android is great. You want an integrated battery to get the slimmest possible form factor...here's your Razr. You want the ability to pop in an extra battery for extended periods away from a recharge source....here's your GNex.

And don't forget there are plenty of USB battery extnder peripherals to use if you have an integrated battery, and still need supplemental charge.

I hear you and if it pertains to me in any way, I was not offended, but was humored. Mercy, I'm glad it was pointed out, whew! I'll not use that phrase again.

My concern. I think once you have that data plan (especially unlimited), you can't stop it and go back to unlimited. You'd have to go on tiered

I messed up my DINC, and only had a flip phone without data. I just activated a pre-paid line for like 20$. I had to continue to pay for my unlimited data while this wait has been going on, but I think it is worth it.

Same here, ie paying for it but not using it. I'm phoneless which is kind of wierd. Still worth it to keep unlimited data!

So any new news from your "source" steven?

Not really sure what news is left besides:

  • A concrete release date, which they already said is most likely the 17th.
  • A pre-order date (if there is one), which will probably be the 10th.
  • Verizon's changes for the SGN.

This was my outfit from today. I got the mask and boots off resellers on Amazon and my sister made the cloak for me. I was a Nazgul/ringwraith two years ago and my sister modified the cloak for me to reuse it for this costume. She added the red piping and I was good to go.
