Does anyone know if this phone can produce colors more accurately than other super Amoled screens? The color on the GSI and GSII suck beyond belief and is a huge reason why I am getting rid of my Captivate.

Happy Halloween everyone. Hopefully Verizon only has treats for us, and no tricks. Been busy this weekend, but I think I am mostly caught up. Hope everyone else's weekend was good!

Unfortunately, I think the winner among most consumers is over-saturated colors, as opposed to true colors, so screen manufacturer's, Samsung especially, have been shooting for that.

I doubt it. You would be more happy with the screen on the Rezound, most likely as it's LCD. I don't know how "accurate" it will be though, as demand for a cellphone with a properly calibrated display is a very, very niche market.

Good morning everyone.

Finally got caught up with all I missed this weekend due to power outages, downed trees, etc. It was really fun driving in this snow and I am so glad I have a rental car. Driving my car (lowered volkswagen) in this weather is awful. All I hear is ice and frozen snow dragging across my subframe and oilpan. Oh well -- its my own fault.

Anyway I cannot wait until the 17th (or the 10th for preorder). Speaking of, I had a question regarding pre-order. My dad is the primary account holder and I am going to preorder the phone on my line. When it gets shipped out can I change the name on the shipment? I want to ship the phone to work, but using my dad's name won't work since they won't exactly know where it needs to end up. I would also need an address change, but I am assuming they do that since my dad ships his phones to work.

Also I wanted to bring this to the attention of those wanting to get some awesome use from the camera as well as just have a nice stand for the phone. I am in no way affiliated with this project, but was directed to it by a friend. I have never backed a KickStarter project before, but its an awesome feeling knowing that you are helping "the little guy's" ideas come to life. Check it out and by backing it you are pretty much pre-ordering the product. Capta: Stick it, Lean it, Wrap it, Attach it. by Unique Design — Kickstarter

So good morning, happy Rezound / RAZR week. Now only a week or two left until SGN week!

Thanks, that Capta thing looks VERY cool! My only concern is that the back of the Nexus is textured, while the screen side is concave... leaving virtually nothing for Capta to stick to. I would love to have a tripod mount for this phone, and Capta seems perfectly capable... for just about every device out there except Nexus :(

The last update from them was tested on the Samsung Galaxy SII which has the same textured back as the SGN and it stuck just fine even with him shaking the Capta system. I think it will be fine -- not guaranteeing it will work 100% because I can't confirm it and neither can them right now, but figured I would just just pass the info along because I thought it was neat.

My concern would be the "stickiness" of the pad overtime. No matter how careful you are, it'll get dirt, hairs, dust all over it. Can it be washed and restored to it's original state, or do you need to buy a new pad.

Also I'd love to see the insurance claims when your phone smashes into a hundred pieces, they'll tell you yo go -blam- yourself.

The Kickstarter project page claims:
This product has unlimited uses and when it loses its stickiness all you do is run some water over it and Voila!! Its brand new again.

Also they attach it to a golf club or something and swing it around. Once again not saying its for everyone, just wanted to share it in case someone else wanted to back it like I did. I will be doing a review on it once I get mine though to let everyone know what I think and how it works.

Happy Halloween Monday GNexers!

After a quick review of this weekend's posts the couple of things I found worthwhile.

1. Battery is like the Bionic and should last all day with regular use.
2. A picture of the GNex with the file name is "Verizon SCH-i515"
3. Face Unlock should not work with a picture of a person's face.
4. The phone is still awesome.
5. Tomorrow is November!

My concern. I think once you have that data plan (especially unlimited), you can't stop it and go back to unlimited. You'd have to go on tiered

Ouch, Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm gonna check today. If they tier me, I'm going with the SGSII on T-Mobile.

The phone is a beast, and it has NFC which is one of the main features I'm interest in. (I actually wish iPhone would've had nfc so it would be a more mainstream feature, but hopefully they add it next generation). I'd cheapen up my plan. Verizon's unlimited data plan is the only thing keeping me there right now.

Plus, I'd be able to make the full switch to google voice, and transfer my current number to G-voice.

LTE kills the phone more even just in standby. If you used a lte phone you would see this.
This is something I really want to see how the Razr handles with the built in Smartapps. While the car example earlier wasn't particularly correct (A V-8 in general uses more gas that a V-4 at 25 mph), there are some smart thing you see in new cars--like shutting off gas to 2 cylinders while at constant speed or coasting--that make powerful engines closer to wimpy engine economy. Hopefully the integrated Smartapp will open a door in general for other manufacturers or the Google to be smart about power usage.

Battery life is still my #1 concern. If the GNex is a hog, then it will need 3rd party support ASAP to make that battery last. Last thing I need is it dying on the train ride home. Then I'd have to plug it in when I get home and actually spend time with my family instead of hiding behind my smartphone.

One final thought that has really been bugging me: What the frack is the big deal about a panoramic camera?! Droid x has a passable one. The Bionic actually has a really smooth one. Do folks need to get out more? :D

Good morning everyone, and Happy Halloween! I just got back from walking around different buildings at work, scaring as many people as possible. *insert evil emoticon here* I chose the pig mask from Saw for this year's getup, with a cloak my sister made for me (with red piping of course). My wife took a picture with her phone and once she forwards it to me, I'll post it in case anyone is curious.

Too bad the Galaxy Nexus is the 17th and not the 10th (would have made a nice birthday present to myself) but I'm not really complaining. What's one more week, right? I think I missed the official announcement... Steve's link took me to this page (372?) and looks like it was referencing a specific post but I just get the top of the page.... no official announcement, so to speak. If someone can point it out to me, since I appear to be a dummy and can't find it, it would be most appreciated. Thank you!

There was no official announcement -- it is just information from the source that is stating the 17th as release day.

Speaking of Halloween - for all you Arrested Development fans out there, here is my costume. Tobias, you blow hard.

Haha, I actually PMed Steven a couple times last week about this. Not sure the problem, but try this link:

You know... I did some thinking about owning a 4G smartphone with a fixed battery. I guess I'd have to carry a wall outlet around with me on day trips? ;)
No can do. I don't see how folks are going to get by like that. 4G? Fixed battery? 4G power drain? I dunno.

My 80 year old Mother has an iPhone and the battery life is like a gun pointed at her head at all times in worrying about being able to charge it.

Forget about it she will not ditch the iPhone. The battery is fine but she has been hung out to dry a few times but still has that iPhone fever/loyalty we all know as a deer in the headlights.

Some folks really do not have an application for an interchangeable battery meaning they go to work and home and are never into long usages but still....... the option and availability is in thinking of the consumers needs.

I wonder if the Mfg gets off cheaper not needing to produce the spares for store stock? It's pretty obvious the advantage is not for the consumer.

They will sell millions of them.

One thing I notice is the feel of an iPhone (and RAZR when it arrives) will be improved because of the solidity of the back of the phone with no battery door. Also doesn't need latching mechanism, so can thin it out a little. But you better be darn sure that the battery can last a full day under a pretty heavy load, or through in a free portable charger. I think there will be more than a few RAZR customers complaining as we go on.

Color accuracy? no. Probably want to wait for LG's new display.
LG's 4.5-inch high-res AH-IPS display beats Super AMOLED Plus in color accuracy

Well, as a photographer that has processed and sold images to go to print in magazine publications, color accuracy on a phone is not an issue of urgency.
To me that is the only reason a phone display should get anal about color accuracy and then its silly to me.
I read the article and no where did they say anything about visibility in sunlight performance. This is something I would like to see an IPS display accomplish. Then I could find a laptop with one.

To me putting a high tech display on a LG phone is like Margret Thatcher getting breast augmentation.
