***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

After all the supposed in house testing and then releasing half assed updates and certain phones cough thunderbolt cough there are many times when verizon seemingly lets things slip through the cracks only to recall after the damage is done.

Yeah sometimes there are no words. Verizon releasing a phone like that baffles me with how long they seem to hold stuff back.

Man, I would hate to be waiting for ICS from Samsung here in the states. That is Snickers commercial for sure. gonna be a while?

Well officially yes but with samsung and not locking their phones I bet a rom will be out for it shortly after source code is released. I mean look at the original galaxy s already got a port and that has half the specs of the sgs2.

Very very true, if you are willing to root and flash roms, samsungs biggest issue goes away. I flashed the heck out of my omnia when i had it.

It's a valid question. I agree if it is ready for release holding it back only costs them money. But there are so many things that have to be just right, ESPECIALLY for verizon. So who knows.

Actually I think some of the delay may be Verizon getting enough phones to sell. This was hinted at today by P3Droid I think. We've been going on about how Verizon isn't releasing to give their bloated phones priority but what if it's the opposite? What if the email and twitter bombing and their supposed watching this thread have made them realize there is a lot more demand for the SGN than they anticipated? Maybe after all that they quickly realized the same 50,000 (just a random #) that they had on order wouldn't be near enough to fill even pre-orders. Think of how bad this would be for Verizon if they release this thing and it sells out in the first day and then they leave people waiting for weeks or longer for another shipment to come in?

This scenario might sound familiar to some from the DInc days since it's basically what happened then.

Yeah that debacle is what brought me here. I ordered my phone June 7th and didn't get it until July 3rd. Brutal.

Wasn't the Incredible delay due to a shortage of Amoled screens at the time? I don't think it was specifically Verizon's fault in that case, but I don't totally remember...

Hence the reason for pre-orders to allow time to fill the pipeline...

Maybe if it's a pre-order a month ahead but only a week or two and you're gonna have people waiting a while for Samsung to manufacture the phones and then for them to be shipped to the US and go through customs to eventually end up at Verizon's warehouses for shipping to customers. Ever hear of a slow boat to China? Well that boat is also slow coming back to the US.

That was a baa-aaa-aaaa-d move (sheep reference :D). It's also grounds for de-friending.

LMAO! That was funny. Won't de- friend, just allows for iFail comments. (and besides, she knows WAY TOO MUCH)

Surprise release this Thursday! Who's ready?

No! While i'd love for all of you to get it sooner rather than later, my credit cards have been put on hiatus till they are paid off so this phone can not come out till my next paycheck (in 2 weeks)

Yes, that was the reason. But I have a feeling VZW underestimated the popularity of that phone too

Putting nexus on hold to pay off your credit card?

You need to get your priorities in order.

Yes it was due to a shortage in the screen components that is why htc switched to lcd for later batches of inc.

I believe that Verizon also ran out of phones almost immediately after release too. I vaguely remember something like 500,000 sold in just the pre-order period. It was shortly after that the amoled shortage caused delays in manufacturing more DIncs.

Edit: Actually that brings up a thought. What if Verizon now realizes that many of the original DInc'ers are the same ones lined up for the SGN. The certain realize the rush we created when that phone released.
