***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I can see the zero shutter lag to cause people to take lots of reckless shots with lots of movement. Just like you saw the press doing at the Samsung event.

^This is what I'm thinking.^

"Snap, snap, snap, look at this! Snap, snap, I took like 50 pictures! Snap, snap!"

As someone said earlier, keeping the camera steady is key to good photos (or the opposite is key to crappy photos). Someone playing with the camera isn't trying to take good photos, just seeing how fast it works.

Sorry about that - totally misread!

Believe it or not, a lot of people prefer those UIs... it "organizes" Android for them and "guides" them into what to do. Not sure they'd know what to do with stock vanilla Android

I will admit that the very first time I threw a vanilla rom on my phone, after a year of using only sense, I was momentarily taken off guard by the fact that I had to do a lot of it myself rather than having it basically handed to me. Now I can switch back and forth without a problem.

I wonder if the RAZR and ReHound being out so long before the SGN will pick off a few of our herd.

Of course it will. There has really been zero marketing for the SGN. In about a week, RAZR ads will be on the TV nightly.

Outside of our circles, the SGN and ICS are unknown.

my concern is, if you are snapping off 5 pictures very quickly, will the phone even have the time or capability to FOCUS what's being shot before the camera "shutters" again? if not, then yeah, i can see the pictures being blurry no matter how steady the hand cuz its out of focus. hope i'm wrong...

someone please, just ban me and be done with it. I don't know what the # for the twitter is. I don't care.

Ban everyone, shut down the thread, burn my computer. . . I don't care.

Good morning, everyone! Isn't it a glorious day??!!

I have a good feeling about today, yes I do! I think we're going to find out something definite today! Let's let some sunshine in, grumpy heads!

Hans, have you ever been diagnosed with bipolar disorder?

The ability to snap 5 pictures quickly is not what draws me to this camera. The ability to snap 1 as soon as I am ready, as opposed to waiting a half second or more, does.

I'm with you there. Overall lag to get into my camera (Droid Incredible) although not hugely bad, really nabs me missed shots at times. Important shots. As well, I look forward to actually seeing the screen outdoors which the Inc amoled is very poor at.

No problem. I should have been more clear considering all the discussion regarding software added by Verizon.

I believe it. Same could be said for the Windows/Ubuntu situation. With what Google is trying to do starting with ICS, hopefully all of that will change. :D

Poor??? Understatement. (IMO anyway)

I am very much looking forward to a camera with the ability to grab a pic when I want it rather than when it wants to. Although I have gotten quite good at hitting the shutter button a couple seconds before the anticipated picture. (I only have issues on split second things)

Here is a thought; What would you say if the Samsung SGSII-HD hits all the carriers Jan/Feb of 2012 with ICS? :)

The only high end phone that Verizon has from Samsung this year is the Charge.;)

I agree. The DX camera is slower than drawing by hand. So many times my subject stood there waiting for the stupid thing to snap one picture. Occasionally it just gives up and holding the button never takes a picture. Reminds me why I bought an SLR.

thats exactly what it looks like. theres no lag because it doesnt even bother to focus before taking the shots. not a good tradeoff at all. id rather it take longer and focus, obviously.

I guess the point is that now we have a choice and don't necessarily have to wait on the camera's software to tell us when to shoot.

PS: I don't think we're going to hit 20k, unless you guys man up. Open up and share your feelings. Men. (Steven shakes his head). ;)

Yeah, we just had a photo shoot for fall pictures for my three children, age 4, 3 and 10 months with a digital SLR. Out of 200 pictures, 3 turned out good. Waiting a full second for the camera to decide to take the picture, after waiting a couple more seconds for the camera software to fire up... Not gonna happen.

Hmm. That's weird. I expected to see something on a firm release date by now. I really thought we'd get it this morning.

Strange. Troubling.

Its getting there.

I have a little page for automatic mode shooters I made for family and friends that ask me questions on photography. Its just how to optimize shooting any camera you shoot it in its auto mode.
I have received lots of comments on how much better looking their photo albums were getting.

The next thing I will add is image processing (cropping & resizing) methods for beginners using some of the free software out there. If you want PhotoShop tutorials there are tons out there.

Its VERY BASIC

I hope it helps some of my fellow forum members here.

I think VZW is enjoying watching us squirm at this point. We are merely entertainment to them because they know we are going to give them our money already. It's kinda like a cat that plays with a mouse before killing it.

The longer the wait, the less appealing it becomes.
No SD slot
16Gb ?
HD screen old news
ICS old news
Vanilla ?

Every time a week goes by we get some more news that it will be delayed another week. Next week the rumor will be it is not coming until 12/8.

How many times can you Bionic your customers?:(

Now everyone knows where all the Mr Blurry cam shots come from :)

I cant believe they would release a phone with a camera that doesnt focus. Perhaps they will drop that feature and add a focus feature.
