I understand...well the part about sticking with ATT because of your unlimited grandfathered plan.

Does VZW not have "true" LTE? I had a bionic for 2 weeks and my speeds here over that time averaged 25-30Mbps down 14-18Mbps up and 35-50ms pings...I was thrilled! How good will "true" LTE be?

Honestly, I think the iPhone is a really nice phone and your 3G is much faster than VZW's

You do have the options talked about above though...maybe somewhat a pain to do, but feasible. C'mon fess up your happy for all of us no? :D

Finally VZW is getting the top Android devices it's been long overdue

I was reading (or maybe watching a thing on cnet) about how the other carriers have their "4G LTE" networks, but in reality, they kind of changed the meaning of that term, and it isn't truly as fast as 4G LTE should be. AT&T has supposedly implemented things that will make their LTE "true" to the definition of what it should be, and will hopefully be faster. I think its been tested, and so far its up to a pretty good speed. I'm just hoping for the best. So that + grandfathered unlimited plan will keep me with them for now.

And the iphone 3g I have has definitely had better days. Cracked screen and a now slow UI makes it not very fun to use. All it does now it call/text and music- all very slowwwwwly and laggy.

edit- ok i found the video about the networks, it also has some stuff about the nexus at the beginning. go to 8:20. pretty interesting.

Slightly off topic (something new and different, right?): wonder how OTD is doin?

Smart money says to not look for a blood pressure better than 35 over 12 for anyone trying to go all in against her with a hand she can't smack.

;)

Thanks for thinking of me.:D I did ok, not great. I lost pretty early in the main tournament. Pocket Aces cracked by King/Queen and then pocket Queens were cracked by another King/Queen. I fared better in the two sit-n-gos that followed and ended up making my buy in for the main tournament back. Minus my dinner I ended the night down $20. Not great, but could have been a whole lot worse.

(yeah - me + poker = profit for others!)

Ok sorry, I'll explain further. ;)

I entered a poker tournament tonight. This is when a bunch of people pay an entry fee (tonight being $500) to play poker. When you lose all your chips you are out of the tournament. The total amount of money from the entry fee gets divided up into a prize pool and the final 9 people get a piece of that prize pool. First place paid $15,000. While I was playing I had several hands that caused me to get knocked out of the tournament very early. I had pocket aces (which is 2 aces for my starting cards) and I bet really big and was called (meaning people matched my bet) by 2 other people. The flop (first three of the community cards to come out) was Queen, Jack and a ten. Those cards scared me because they put people in for a straight (5 cards in sequential order such as 5,6,7,8,9) or a straight draw (a straight that someone is trying to complete). I made a continuation bet (continued to bet my hand and show strength) and they both called. The turn (4th community card) was a seven so I slowed down (stopped betting) and one of the other players bet, which I called and the third player mucked (folded his hand). We checked the river (5th and final community card) which was a 9 and the other guy had a King and Queen which gave him his straight and cracked (beat) my two aces. Later in the game I was short stacked (low on chips) and looked to see I had pocket Queens (two queens) so I shoved (put all my chips in) and was again called by two other players. This time the flop came out Jack, four and another Jack which made me both happy and nervous. The other players agreed to check it down (continue to let the cards come without betting anymore) and the turn was a 6 and the river was a King. We all flipped our cards over (revealed what we had) and one of the guys had a King and a Queen so he won with two Kings and two Jacks which beat my two Queens and two Jacks. So I was out of that tournament. :(

The other games that were being played were sit-n-gos. These are 9 to 10 player short tournaments that usually cost less and run a little faster. Only the final 3 people get paid on these normally. I plaid two of these for $100 each and came in second in both which paid $250 each so ended up right back were I started for the night with my $500. I bought dinner though, which cost me $20 so I ended up leaving with $480.

As I said, it wasn't great but it could have been much much worse.

Well, I may be the only person who just found out about the site
damnyouautocorrect.com
but I have to say I would think twice about a fruit phone if those kinds of things are what I could look forward to. I have tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard.

I want to let you know that I have been laughing nonstop since I starting reading this. Thanks for the mention.

i think i just made up my mind that i'm getting the gnex for sure. even though I like the rezound in theory more, I think in practice this will be the more reliable phone. I think the battery improvement just tipped the scale for me. this is a real feature that I value.

Has the 1850 battery been confirmed or is this all rumor?

I would say its pretty reliable, since it came from Steven. If I had to guess, someone in the know told him, but asked him not to post any part of the private conversation, or inform anyone it came from a source. Got to remember these sources are mostly under NDAs, so could get in a lot of trouble if they were ever discovered. I am under an NDA at my job too, and they have fired people for leaking info before.

Exactly. If it comes from Steven, it is pretty dang reliable.

Wow the 1850 is welcomed with open arms. After my last experience with the TB...yeah, the 1850 is needed lol.

Yeah I know they are supposed to be the best hand, but I hate playing pocket As, they always seem to let me down.

And with that, GOOD MORNING GNEXERS. Yesterday was a great day. And I see Steven through in a nice nugget on the battery last night, capping it off. Yall were busy too, 6 pages to catch up on. We don't have much left to get, FCC pass, Verizon confirmation of the 17th, and storage size is about all that is left. Any bets on what we get first?

I can't believe the Rezound is only 1620 with LTE, HD Screen, and 1.5 GHz processor. WHAT ARE THEY (HTC) THINKING? 1850 is gonna be so nice, going from my TB to that :D

Holy crap! The last time I spent this much time on a forum I was reading thousands of these posts. For a minute there I thought I opened 2+2 by mistake. ;)

The bigger battery sounds good. I just wish the 17th was officially official so I can take the day off. That is unless there is a pre-order period.

That mystery spec tweak last week? 1850 mAh battery. Don't ask me how I know, but I do. :D

OP Updated with new battery spec here.

So, how much does 100-200 mAh extra really translate to in an LTE device with a 4+ inch screen? 30 minutes? Definitely not complaining as every bit extra is welcomed. Just curious is all.

Thanks for that. I was feeling like the Lone Ranger .. poker face .. or something. :D

Your question did provoke a thorough and clear explanation/tutorial. No mention of what she had for dinner though.

Isn't that a formality? I am just impressed that she paid the person $20 after she was finished :D;)

ugh...been there too many times myself. My last tournament I got killed going all in when my cowboys got destroyed by a couple of snowmen on the river. $1000 buy in down the drain and dude had a sh*t eating grin on his face that made me want to put a foot in his a$$...oh well, saving for my next tourney in a few weeks.

Hope you have better luck at the next one!

That is absolutely HORRID! Basically if you're going to get a vigor you might as well buy an extended battery at the store because your stock one is going to be dead buy the time you reach your car??? wtf?

And that made me laugh hard enough to get out of bed. Thanks!

Thank you Steven for the info - panties twisted in excitement to know that little tidbit about the battery.

And thanks for the poker explanation OTD.

Good morning G'Nexers!! It's Friday and maybe we will get lucky with more info. If not, I'd say it was a pretty good week anyway.

At heavy usage on LTE, 30 minutes extra is about right I would imagine. But for most people's normal usage, that can be the difference between lasting till you get it on the charger at night before bed, and lasting till the start of the drive home.

Early birds are here to take over the thread from the night owls. Thanks for holding it down, we'll take it from here.

Come on more big news today!

Has anyone seen any stats on battery life yet?
