Good morning G'nexers and happy Friday!

Really excited to see the 1,850 mAh battery spec come out - that's a lot of battery life for this device. I would totally expect it to make it through a day with moderate usage, which is absolutely killer. 4G speeds all day err day.
Am I the only one worried about the battery increase? Clearly LTE broke the phone. This battery bump up isn't getting you more performance, it is getting you to minimum acceptable standards.

Yeah but I'm wondering if formatting it from MKV to mp4 would screw up the resolution.

I wouldn't think so...then again I'm not quite as familiar with video formats as I am some other things. But I would think you can encode 720p mp4 and play it on a full size TV and get full 720p resolution

It's not as bad as what some make it out to be. I live within 40 minute drive to Huntsville, AL which has 4G LTE coverage with Verizon already and has the highest ratio of engineering jobs to total employment in the nation. Great city. On top of that, we just bought over 10 acres of land for under $50k :D

I always see cool enginerding jobs down there at redstone and with Nasa. Oh so tempting, but I grew up in b'ham, and can't see moving back down there. I like new england too much, although we live in rhode island now, which is kinda like the mississippi of new england....

What makes you assume this? It's entirely possible that they merely want it to last as long as the Bionic or RAZR while still having an HD screen (which eats up more battery).

Come on, we wanted a bigger battery, we got a bigger battery. What more do you want? :)
We all know that LTE is a battery hog, which is why we're so pumped about the 1850 mAh battery (and so confused by HTC's 1620 mAh battery on the Rezound)

Regarding the storage spec craze...I don't think I use over 10 GB of storage on my OG Droid's sd card. 16 GB is plenty for me.

I have absolutely no problems with anything in the south. My parents sometimes wonder how I'm in my 30s and still living in our area because as they say 'You have redneck in your blood' (and I mean that in a 100% complimentary way). My spoiled part is more having so much - highways, shopping, airports, cruise ports - all within 30 minutes or less. And the engineering thing is great - but I'd have to go to school to have any shot at those jobs.

However, given the right circumstances I could see myself moving one day.

I could probably get by on 16 gb. I've hardly touched the SD on my charge - but I think I filled my OG Droid (with a bunch of movies) so either one should be fine probably. I would like to put some pretty HD flicks on it! I wouldn't mind a price break -- more money for accessories! :p

I LOVES ME SOME ACCESSORIES!!!!!!

Aww-taw-taw - don't be a downer. I would be willing to bet it will be leaps and bounds above the HTC device and on par with the RAZR.

Don't know MS, that's where I grew up :D But in addition to Redstone (military arsenal base) and NASA, you've got Toyota motor manufacturing (making Toyota engines obviously), LG Electronics, ADTRAN (telecom), Intergraph (computer graphics), 3M, BP, a 3 unit nuclear power plant, etc....all in the general Huntsville area. TONS of tech jobs ranging from research to production.

Do we know the prices yet? Are we thinking $300 for the 16GB and $400 for the 32GB, ala Apple pricing? I'd like to have the 32GB model as I'm thinking about buying iSyncr to sync the Android phone over to iTunes, and get rid of my iPod Touch 4G. Nothing wrong with the Touch, I love it as a music player but do nothing else with it. It would help me consolidate devices.

Here's hoping for $250 for a 16GB and $300 for a 32GB.

We're leaning towards 16GB-$200 or $250 and 32GB-$300, but it's mostly speculation at this point. The most solid thing we have is that Steven's source heard that 32GB will be $300.

By the way, Apple pricing is 16GB-$200 and 32GB-$300 as well, not $300 and $400.

But we never had a phone like this before!!!! I want the 32 just to be safe.

You know we're going to go crazy with that camera. Plus the HD videos and stuff. I want the 32

Hmmm. The GNEX performs better than I was anticipating (grain 'o salt, this is just a benchmark) compared to the SGSII. Especially in the graphics department.

Perhaps the fast dual channel memory in omap + gpu overclock + ICS tweaks/new driver made a much bigger difference on gpu performance than I was imagining?

Isn't the SGS2 not able to utilize both cores at the same time b/c the OS is not optimized for that? Whereas the GN can use both cores at the same time with ICS? Perhaps the SGS2 running ICS would perform better?

I been a puttin cash back since the "End of Waiting" campaign.

Cheaper 16MB version? ***GAPI Laughs and Scoffs!***

I'll be gettin it ALL! Car Dock, Desk Top Dock, Extended Battery, U name it I am on it.

Then I'll be like THIS and perhaps make it my ringtone. Grunt!

.

I really want a great car mount again! It was so great for navigation, Pandora, movies for long car trips!

But Apple dropped their prices. It's $200 for 16 gb now. Seems like most 32gb phones are about $300 these days (Charge, Razr, Bionic) so I can't imagine there wouldn't be at least a $50 price cut for the 16 gb. It would be silly not to!

Have you used iSyncer before? Did you like it?

Yea! Me Too! And when they get twisted they come off!

:D;)

I could easily see it being 16/32 @ $249/299

And I haven't had a car mount or dock or anything fun like that but I plan on it for this phone. And I need it before Christmas so my family can buy me the accessories, saving me more money to put into a vacation fund.

Car mounts are great! I don't have a good spot to put my phone when it's in the car, so I really miss mine. After having the one made specifically for the Droid, I couldn't go to one that's not phone specific, so Gnex better have one!
