Totally off topic: Modern Warfare 3 is SO FUN! Only got to play for about 30 minutes tonight but wow...so much fun. I love it.

This is going to help me get through all this release date mess. A little distraction is a good thing.

Good Morning GNexers! Lets hope today brings some news to lift our spirits, yesterday was kind of rough. Thanks Mods for letting us blow off some steam by lightly touching on other interests, to bring us back to reality, that life isn't all about this phone.

sorry for the repost, but will the release verision be any better? actually picture quality in this is great, but the stabilization is horrible and there is a bunch of warping.

Galaxy Nexus Kameratest - YouTube

I sure hope so, or I hope there is a way to turn that stabilization off.

When the camera man isn't walking, the video looks incredible. As soon as he starts walking, it looks absolutely awful. My OG Droid takes better video than that when I am walking.

I do think, however, that this might be a software issue, not an issue with the actual camera hardware (I hope).

Good morning all! Hopefully today will bring some news. I realized this is getting to me last night when my wife asked me if I knew what next week was. I almost said "The Nexus? Where did you get the information and how credible is it?". Instead I realized she was talking about my twin boys birthday. What a let down. :)

What a beautiful let down too ;)

Woooohooooo! I'm 21 again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

I wish it worked that way :/ I still go out for Halloween... My married friends with kids (some of which are almost done with elementary school) make fun of me...

the business I work at is Jewish, I get off rushannah and Yom Kipper, they were joking that if I was in charge, the Holiday's would be Halloween and Saint Patties day :P ( and they be would too ! dammit :P)

I love thhat my daughter still needs a chaperone for Halloween. It's one of my favorites. And if you were in charge and gave us those holidays would you also include the day after St Patty's?

Oh, and another nice little tidbit, last night @VZWSupport was hacked and putting out ads for male enhancement and weight loss drugs. Hehe.

Maybe it wasn't a hack. I smell advertising campaign for the RAZR. Weightloss for any other smartphone and male enhancement since the RAZR is so thin it can no longer compensate for other, um deficiencies.

I do think, however, that this might be a software issue, not an issue with the actual camera hardware (I hope).

The Jello effect is almost definitely a hardware issue, but can be cleaned up to some degree with software. Here was an interesting example (in post processing): HHH - Fix iPhone Jellocam Video with Rolling Shutter - YouTube although there's some clean-up that can be done realtime in firmware.

I wonder if, due to the image quality being so spectacular, we become more critical of the video quality. I've been looking at old videos from other cams that exhibit this effect (lots of iPhone examples out there), and while it's present at lower resolutions, it doesn't seem as offensive.

Also, this video of the tree and leaves video is only one example and a lot of what we're looking at can come down to subject, technique, and early hardware/software.

Fingers crossed!

Morning everyone. A lot of stuff to read through from last night, turned into a chatty bunch at night huh.

Found this site last night -- adjust your screen size to your current size and it will display a real life size comparison of any phones you want (here is RAZR, Nexus and 4s): Phone Size - Phone size comparison made easy!

It's pretty neat though, compare any phones you want and you see real size representations in front of you.

Off to work -- I will be back on when I get there or on the bus. Hoping for some news or leaks or something today!

This morning I woke up to sunshine and warmth (relatively)--maybe that explains my current optimistic thinking about the G-Nex.

Here's my thoughts (as if you asked): in the past I've felt/heard a lot of resentment towards Verizon for ignoring and dismissing this device. But let's think about this. Verizon is the exclusive U.S. launch partner. That is not something that Google just offered Verizon for free. It had to cost, because an exclusive launch for Google means it's launching on fewer carriers and probably selling fewer phones. Verizon had to want this phone enough to pay Google for an exclusive launch. To me, this makes the prospects of a web-only launch very implausible. This is their exclusive device! They know it will sell and want it to be successful. So why are they acting like this phone is the neglected child? Haven't we heard that Google/Sammy are doing the marketing for the G-Nexus? This may explain why that leaked Verizon marketing calendar didn't list the Nexus until after the Black Friday. Maybe Verizon isn't allowed to market the G-Nex initially because Google/Sammy are. So why haven't Google/Sammy marketed the Verizon G-Nex? Maybe it was in their agreement that Verizon be allowed to have an uninterrupted launch of the RAZR and Rezound (Verizon surely knew those were coming just as much as the G-Nex, I doubt they got blindsided by this "oh crap, we have 3 big phones at the same time"). Are there product delays with the VZ device? I don't know, but IIRC the last we heard from panda/BMX didn't s/he say that there wasn't a shortage, didn't know where those rumors came from, and that devices were headed to the stores?

Whew this was a long rant. What is the take home? I don't know when the Nexus will launch. But I do think we are going to start to see some public information soon. I imagine once the RAZR and Rezound launch, Google/Sammy and Verizon are going to stop being so secretive. I wouldn't dismiss a Nov. 17th launch (why on earth would VZ launch the Rezound on Monday the 14th?), but I'm also not counting on it because sometimes the powers that be are just illogical.

Oh and also the FCC search is down right now and has been since yesterday or I would search for Samsung devices.

I'll let you know if I find anything or it comes back up and nothing is there.

Have a question that has been bugging the crap out of me.

I currently have the Droid X. Right from the git go the speaker volume was a huge issue to many. Most of us (including me) have dealt with it because of all the other pros the handset has.

I have made a decision however to NEVER own another handset that has crapping volume! Friends of mine have $39.99 phones that blow away the X when it comes to sound. It at times is actually quite embarrassing........lol

Does anyone have some info on the GN volume or know of a link where this is discussed? Having bad volume would equal deal breaker for me at least.

BTW..........the date of release is not a big issue for me. I certainly would like to see it very soon but can wait until it gets here :)

Hmm, I just searched, there is one Samsung device from last night, not the GNex though.

Given how awesome the GN w/ ICS is, I'd say that if the volume were an issue you might have a repeat where you "dealt with it because of all the other pros the handset has." ;)
