***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Went to the verizon store to check out a razr. It was a nice fone. Fast and bright. There were two display models in the store. One screen was just plain hot and the other was hot enough to fry an egg on. None of the other screens of the other phones were hot. Strange.

It felt strange in my hand. It was very wide, yet very thin. I didn't like that feel. Perhaps I'd get used to it?

Houston, we may have a problem.

Pure speculation but I kind of think the 11/21 web online date and a in store release of 11/25 is viable because from the marketing stand point the early adopters (us) will order online (11/21) receive the phone either overnight Tueday or Wedneday with 2 day delivery then everyone on black friday. That way everyone has their device by Thanksgiving to show off.

Start the ad campaign on 11/17 saying "Verizon is your holiday shopping place to be to pick up one of three of the hottest phones this holiday season." IMO.

I like the sound of that Rich. :D

That ad will take on a whole new meaning when someone's jeans catch on fire by a RAZR too, based on some of the reviews of the heat it puts off.

For those put off by the amazon UK pushback to Dec 2nd I have an idea. I would assume most people in the UK also buy their phone on contract from a carrier rather than off contract (like folks in the US do?) If so then google/sammy have seen the anticipation swell for the GNex and have pushed back the date for amazon so they can get more units for carriers (or operators as those in the UK are called). So its likely still on for the 17th in the UK and thus we shouldn't worry.

My other problem is now that P3 has shown he is using the LTE model he cant tell us what battery life is like... lame.

My charge is almost always clean after removing from my pocket. I'm not sure if there is an oleophobic coating, but it is a great screen. Very easy to clean and slick. Makes it a pleasure to use. I'm sure the Nexus will be similar

My GF's Nexus S is exactly like this, especially compared to my fingerprint magnet (OG DInc)!

I really hope, for the sake of all of us, that 11/17 is right, but I for one am not confident on that date.

A lot of people keep saying that they will keep believing the launch will be 11/17 until they hear otherwise from Verizon, but unless I missed something, we never officially heard from Verizon that 11/17 was the date. All we have is some "work in progress" screenshot of some website.

We have also have a leak that shows some website that states 11/21 will start a web only pre-order. Why are some ruling out this leak, but believe the 11/17 leak is correct? Just wishful thinking, or is there an actual reason?

Basic recap:

(1) We have a leak of some website that says orders will start 11/17.
(2) We have a leak of some website that says online orders will start 11/21.
(3) There is no evidence that suggests leak 1 is any more reliable than leak 2.
(4) Verizon has not officially announced anything.

This is my biggest concern, as several early reviews talk about the heat. Even if the device components are designed to handle the heat without shortening the life of the device, it seems it would still be uncomfortable to use.

What did you think of the case construction?

Well, obviously since Verizon hasn't announced anything, nobody knows for sure. But we can use evidence to make educated guesses. We had a lot of evidence, leaks, and insider source info pointing to the 17th, until this weekend when the 21st popped up, and then Amazon pushed the UK one back to 12/2 on their site. We also have it from "The Source" that there are some manufacturing issues, so not sure how much that is affecting anything.

I also don't really believe this "web only" stuff. From Verizon's official press release last month:

"BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – Verizon Wireless today announced that the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung, the world’s first smartphone running on Android™ 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich is coming to Verizon Wireless. The Galaxy Nexus will be available later this year in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com."

Yes one date is as sketchy as the next but this is why people are believing the 11/17 date.

I also take it to understand the 'promotional items' mentioned include window clings or such. Between now and the 15th i wouldn't be surprised to see someone take blurry cam pics of the 'promotional items' as they begin to arrive on shipments to the stores.

Thats hopeful news then! My (now dead) OGD was a grease trap, I'd clean it off and the first swipe to unlock it would leave that stuff. I am really really really hoping for some form of an oleophobic coating.

Of course, that would contraindicate the use of a screen protector.

Asked this question at 8 this morning with no answer.

Does anyone know anything about the volume?

Have a question that has been bugging the crap out of me.

I currently have the Droid X. Right from the git go the speaker volume was a huge issue to many. Most of us (including me) have dealt with it because of all the other pros the handset has.

I have made a decision however to NEVER own another handset that has crapping volume! Friends of mine have $39.99 phones that blow away the X when it comes to sound. It at times is actually quite embarrassing........lol

Does anyone have some info on the GN volume or know of a link where this is discussed? Having bad volume would equal deal breaker for me at least.

The last real MAP I saw showed the GN with a date of 11/10/11, and the Razr with a date of 10/27/11, which turned out to be the pre-order. I think there will be a pre-order for the GN on 11/10/11, with the release (based on other leaks) of 11/17. Steven's source hasn't heard anything OTHER than 11/17, and I'm putting my faith in that versus other supposed leaked documents which are easy enough to fake (and some of them look fake), and don't look very "official" to me. True, Verizon has not officially announced a date, but they have officially announced the phone, so your 4th point is not totally accurate. Again, it's just my opinion, but not just wishful thinking (because that would mean I would be banking on it being released in 2 days), but my best guess based on the info I have that I feel is the most reliable. Take it for what it's worth (which, at this point, ain't much). :)

Pathetic. This is how I see it after going through the Bionic, the SGII bogus release on Verizon, and now this.
I see myself a pathetic mass of human flesh and mind refreshing here for a morsel about a damn phone. Its all been said. There is nothing else to ponder, argue, perceive, guess at, make fun of, hate or love about this walki-talki.

Oh the Angst & Despair, OH! ........ I'm out-a-here for a while.

Sad to see you taking a break. Hopefully you'll still pop in for a look-see once in a while.
