It's honestly not that great.

I haven't pulled these sneakers out since the summer because I had others, but my other ones finally died. As I am lifting them out of the shoe holder I am taken aback by the name.... I think it's a sign for those of you who keep being drawn in by shiny Razr's or thoughts of quad core phones in the future. Even the exercise fates are saying "hang in there, you'll get your Galaxy and it will have android ICS 4.0"

Finally moved on. Ordered my SGS2 (international version) to be used on AT&T. After handling the Sprint SGS2 (which is larger than the international version, but smaller than the Nexus), I decided that the Nexus was too large for my tastes. Also had to switch to AT&T due to some issues with Verizon, but if I wanted the Nexus, would have gladly ordered an international version.

HSPA+ should be more than sufficient for me. Hell, I was content with Verizon's 3G.

No worries. Everyone's got to go with the device which they feel suits them best. Enjoy your SGS2! :)

On happy news - my first update that the dev says is ready for ICS has been done. Pure Calendar Widget. Guess I'll find out if it's true when our phones are released

yes...i dont want any off my apps that are on my X to download automatically on my Nexus. i want to start fresh

All that does is restore the data associated with the app if you choose to reinstall it. I don't think that's what he was asking...he wanted to stop the actual apps from downloading on the gnex automatically

when i get my Nexus, how do i not have all my apps automatically download when i log into google ? current phone is X. i have alot of garbage that i dont want on my new phone. when i sbf'd my x from scratch alot of old apps auto loaded back onto phone and i dont want that to do that on my Nexus...

also, how do we know which apps will work on the new ICS Os ? should everything that works for Gingerbread also work on ICS?

I would but the shoe won't stay still. It is apparently really happy with the sammich and keeps squealing "its coming, it's coming,
don't despair, go get some air,
You need to relax, not pick up an axe ;
You'll have your turn soon. "

yeah, I have never claimed to be good at poetry

Here's a link to help you out.

Hope it helps!

Edit: Here is a quote from that forum to help you out:

So you're suggestions worked, my old apps did not auto download. There may be some refinements/simplifications to my process as, in paranoia, I may have turned off unnecessary settings. But for starters, here's what I did...

Factory reset and full wipe.
Flashed CleanROM 2.1. It then boots to the startup/setup program...
I was unable to get out of this program, so I went through like this...
First screen, "Scheduled sync": I chose "manually sync", and then "next".
Second screen, "Set up WiFi": I did this, and then "next".
Third screen, "Use Google Location": I let 'em have it, and then "next".
Fourth screen, "Set up accounts": I did not set any up at this time, and just pressed "next".

This transistioned to the home screen and no apps proceeded to download.

In "Settings" then "Privacy", the "Automatic Restore" was checked. But this line was grey'ed out so I could not uncheck it. For now I left it like this. (***see below. I later noticed something that could be tried here)

In "Settings" under "Accounts and sync", I unchecked "Background data", then it asked me about "Backup and Restore", I unchecked this (or left it unchecked, I don't remember), then pressed "Next" and then "Finish".

At his time, Android sync'd my contacts. Still no apps.
Then, still in "Accounts and sync" settings, I checked "Auto-sync", and the rest of the Google accounts stuff, sync'd (mail, calendar, etc).

In "Settings", went to "Privacy", and both "Back up my settings" and "Automatic restore" were checked (?), and I was able to uncheck them both.

***This is when I noticed that if you want to uncheck them both, you have uncheck "Automatic restore" first, and then uncheck "Back up my settings". The other way around leaves "Automatic restore" greyed out and nonresponsive.

So there you have it, the auto-download was never triggered. Although I'm still not sure which step was key. In this sequence, at some point or another, it seems that all of the relevant settings were "on". Perhaps, you're right Early, it is the initial setup program, which automatically runs after your first boot, that triggers the auto-download. And since I didn't establish an account at that time, nothing happened. So you "Finish" that program, and go on your merry way. And maybe none of the "settings juggling" I did afterwards was necessary.

Basically don't set up accounts during the initial phone set up since your apps are linked to your google account. The mass app downloads are only triggered when you set up your google account during initial set up. If you set up google account once your phone is running you won't have this problems and your contacts etc will still be synced.

Finally moved on. Ordered my SGS2 (international version) to be used on AT&T.

Enjoy your device I think it will be awesome! As this waiting game drags on, we seem to loose a few people everyday. I feel like we are all in one of those contests where we each place a hand on a car and the one who can hold on the longest wins the car! :D

Speaking of all the heat issues all phones will get really hot/warm, My fascinate gets hot during long talk/ or heavy texting/ browering and no loss of performance has been noticed, infact one time it got up to 124degress f and yet still performed as usual. So Heat should not be and determing factor in a phone folks!!! (unless it burns!!)
