***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

There's just something about the 10th. I keep going back to the Verizon Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) lists from a couple weeks ago.

"Droid RAZR 10/27/11" (there's that preorder date)...

"HTC Rezound 11/10/11" (and we know buyers are already receiving them)...

And last but not least: "Samsung Galaxy Nexus 11/10/11"

I'm right there on the emotional rollercoaster with everyone else, but something tells me we will see online preorders today, in-store marketing up 11/15, and in-store sales 11/17.

Fingers crossed. Come on MAP. Don't let me down!

Welcome to this thing!

I think optimizing the OS and utilizing dual cores should greatly improve the battery life. If you believe what the Windsock and BMX say then the battery life on GNex is actually quite respectable...

Hoping for this. That's my upgrade "gamble". Although I have no issue with Sense...again, I have no experience with any other smartphone...it seems highly likely that pure ICS optimization will improve battery life.

I'm willing to "bet" $299 on a two-year contract that it will. :p

Just got off the phone with Verizon CSR. I explained that I heard about this new phone called the Galaxy Nexus and I might be interested but I'm worried that my 12/31/11 NE2 upgrade may not apply. They said there is a date but they are not allowed to share it b/c it can change. CSR immediately said..."if it releases in December, you could apply your upgrade since it's less than a month away". I sweet talked for quite awhile and I could sense they wanted to tell me, but they were being a good employee. Finally they said..."if you believe the blogs, it's going to come out on Dec 2". Totally had the feeling of one of those "wink, wink" moments like I'm not officially allowed to tell you the date I'm staring at but...here you go.

As we all know, there's multiple dates on the blogs so why single that one out? Yep, I know it conflicts with the source and I'm hoping this individual, or my feeling was wrong. Just sharing what I experienced.

Troubling.

Hopefully it was a little bit of misdirection so that he could get a sale from you.

From a reliable source: For the last 4 days, any calls or emails to VZW that mention "Nexus" or "SGN" are automatically transferred to the VZW SOG ( special operations group ). This group has been designed to provide misinformation. Most members have been pulled from tech support, to ensure that they know absolutely nothing.

That is 100% not the case. I was not transferred anywhere.

Next time, just throw this in there:

Yeah, they didn't try to push any other phone, topic didn't even come up. Was all about letting me know by email when preorder would be an option or would automatically send me one on that date if I gave the green light over the phone.

First words out of their mouth was..."it's going to be a great phone".

I don't remember what it said the first time I signed up for Nexus information on VZW's site, but I just did it again and it gave me this message:
Thanks for signing up. Your emails will begin arriving soon.

Yeah, it said the same thing right after the page launched. "Soon" meaning imminent meaning impending meaning two+ weeks ;)

Are you talking about 4g standby battery life? That's probably my biggest worry as well. I used to think that switching between 3g/4g when necessary would be good enough, but after using a company TB I found the handoff times to be annoying...

Yes, that's partially what I meant by unacceptable solutions. My belief...and I don't find many Android faithful that agree with me...is that devices should have acceptable battery life with most user sttings wide open, sans screen brightness. I just don't think toggling radios and micro managing push data should be the solution. That's just not a great user experience. But I'm on an island with this point. I'm not debating, just complaining...or "whining" as I've been told.

Yeah, I think it was the same as before, but there was one difference: when I signed up the second time, the new emails came from a different address than the first time.

Of course, it's probably meaningless and an illustration of the desperation we are feeling with respect to any tiny new glimmer of hope for news.

Firstly I want to warmly welcome newbies. Thanks for signing up! You give this thread and our site new life! :) Welcome!

Been on a BrokenBerry Storm (1) since 08. Upgrade was available beginning of this year. Wasn't impressed with charge, thunderbolt, revolution. Stalked the Bionic since March. Passed on it in Aug. Caught wind of razr/rezound/SGN in Aug/Sept. Watched the pouring outcome of the downfall of the Bionic. Been reading up here since first pages. Gone through the motions of waiting for this but I'd say I've been the most patient as well. How many others here can say they've been as patient as me with an original Storm on 1XEV cdma speeds? Definitely ready to jump to 4g from snailburt speed. My phone dropped 5% battery life for every 5-10 minutes I spent attempting to read the forum on it. Which was after I spent 3 minutes just loading the website. Ever tried downloading apps on 128MB of space and 100 of it is pure bloat? haha does this make me the leader in patience here?

To make it short and sweet I just been watching and still will. Done my cheering with the announcements, and my jeering with the rest. I've just got too much work to do to be able to post AND read. At least this way you know you still have one more follower. No big news from me other than the whole NFC deal for google wallet is plastered all over where I work in SF.

Lastly, I've got a pic that I'll post here eventually when I get the earned availability... I wanted to back when we were calling it the Nexus Prime, before I adapted the name Galaxus coined by someone back a ways for a Galaxy Nexus. I think the pic suits the moods here well and even Han(s the german escort) would approve.

Galaxus

I'm on this thread constantly. Computer & Mobile... Borderline Obsessive lol (which I'm sure many of you can relate to :p) I finally have something to take my mind off the SGN for a little while. Got a text from GameStop last night saying that I can pick up my copy of Skyrim at Midnight tonight. :D Hopefully that can preoccupy me for a little while so I can recover from some of this SGN Madness. :)

I actually agree with you for the most part. Battery life should not require a tremendous amount of tweaking and a new phone should be set up for optimum battery life right out of the box, IMHO. The problem is with the technology. We keep moving as fast as we can with processors, ram, screens, radios, etc. and we leave batteries alone for the most part. Until someone develops a solid performing battery then we will always have battery problems or really thick phones.

Welcome to the Obsession! :D

Totally forgot today was the original leaked MAP date.
That's the problem with leaks.

Some are fake. And others are real. But I think most fall in the catagory of being real, but not accurate. It may have originally been a date, but along the way, Verizon changed things. Since we never see the updated doc, we're stuck believing outdated info.

I'm still hoping for a 17th release.

i got an idea. if we dont get any more information from verizon today, i think we should all call verizon at the same exact time and ask them about the galaxy nexus. if 1000+ people call someone's bound to get the right date. haha
