Bring back the Nexus Prime name imo

i got an idea. if we dont get any more information from verizon today, i think we should all call verizon at the same exact time and ask them about the galaxy nexus. if 1000+ people call someone's bound to get the right date. haha

1000 people call and get 1000 answers, at least one of them has got to be right. They we can continue arguing who's got the correct info. :D

Yes, that's partially what I meant by unacceptable solutions. My belief...and I don't find many Android faithful that agree with me...is that devices should have acceptable battery life with most user sttings wide open, sans screen brightness. I just don't think toggling radios and micro managing push data should be the solution. That's just not a great user experience. But I'm on an island with this point. I'm not debating, just complaining...or "whining" as I've been told.

I don't think you are on an island here. I am totally Android faithful and just don't want to tinker with my phone settings all day. I leave everything on with my Dinc. Most people (maybe not here) are probably the same way.

Every time I have ever tried to micro manage the settings (turning on/off bluetooth when I don't need it, wifi, GPS etc.) to improve battery life it only ends up marginally better and it was just a pain to keep remembering to keep switching on/off all day.

The only time I turn almost everything off (except voice) is when I know I won't be around any plugs all day. Like on vacation or all day nature trips.

We shouldn't have to even think about all the data pushes, GPS, bluetooth stuff during regular days. It should just last all day until we go to sleep and plugin. That's all I want. I have a plug at my desk and in my car for the really heavy use days.

I'm done now :)

Apparently, the 2100mAh battery rumor is making its way around the interwebs, and of course I get no credit :(

Just kidding about the credit, I could care less.

I think Kellex needs to see your post and post that on DL. Instead of the Fox News video that is ancient. ;)

Are you talking about 4g standby battery life? That's probably my biggest worry as well. I used to think that switching between 3g/4g when necessary would be good enough, but after using a company TB I found the handoff times to be annoying...

MY TB using 4g lasts the whole day and then some on standby. Root it, if you havent and put BAMF rom on it. End of story.

Oh there's plenty of excitement among us, the things that aren't excited are our wallets :p

You do get credit, here, where it matters the most ;)

The fact that Samsung says its a Verizon things nearly confirms in my head that the release will happen on the 17th. This is based on the whole why is the Rezound on the 14th instead of the 17th if they don't intend on releasing the GNex on the 17th question

I like your logic. But at the same time, I think Verizon is getting away from the Thursday releases.

Well, the problem with this is that for them to give us that battery life with the current state of technology they would have to remove functionality from the phones entirely. No more 4G, no more big, bright HD screens, etc. If they did this then we'd be all complaining that they aren't giving us the phones we want. I agree switching things on and off isn't a great user experience but neither is the alternative. It's like the Chevy Volt, state of the art for electric car technology but with current batteries you get a 30 mile max range. And that's with them minimizing the electrical usage of everything they can.
