With just one* outlier, we can't say they're looking to make a permanent move away from Thursday releases. Even if the SGN becomes the second outlier, I'd still say it's due more to the holiday schedule than it is a shift in their normal product release strategy.

* Not counting the RAZR due to pre-orders showing up yesterday and today, and the 11/11/11 thing being a gimmick.

It would appear that's the battery size. Though Samsung could just have an old page up and could change it prior to release.

As for the NFC, it's part of the battery. You can see the additional contacts for it on the top-left edge (charging on the top-right edge).

The reason for this is that NFC is very low power and if it was with the rest of the internals it wouldn't penetrate past the battery. This is likely also why the original metal backing for the GNex was abandoned.
 
So I finally get to catch up on news today and see that the Samsung VP called out Verizon yesterday on Fox Business....classic :)

Step up to the plate, Verizon.
 
Seems like the RAZRites are receiving pre-orders a day early.

Can't wait for initial impressions from them. I may be loyal to the SGN but I am a nerd at heart and new devices and technology really excite me!
 
hello all (first post :P)

i came across this thread about 3 days ago i think, and i was on the last page of this thread which was fun to see people like me that cant wait to get their hands on the GN.

i stumble on this thread again yesterday night searching google for news on GN. i saw that there was atleast 25 new pages, so i started reading around 11 pm last night, and kept on reading and reading and reading, and everytime someone posted an article about GN on here or that damn addictive RAZR game on enter to win the RAZR made me side track and more pages were added to this thread. i read as people raced through to get the 25k title (congrats to hans btw :P). around 3 am after all the side tracks i was only 2 pages away but i couldnt keep my eyes open, so i bookmarked this thread and went to sleep.

caught up this morning. i really enjoyed this thread so far, maybe because we are all crazy, or maybe the mods are sending subliminal messages through to keep as hooked (i think it will be a record on this website if i get banned on my first post lol) . its so freaking addictive.

I switch it up between F5, Ctrl - R, or right click and reload... they all get the job done. :)

In the past have you guys seen all phones come through the FCC before there is an official announcement? Or do the announcements usually come at/around the same time or even beforehand?

I fully expect to hear that pre-orders (hopefully) are available from this forum well before I get the email from Verizon. Hopefully only 7 more days to go until we are glued to our phones (instead of this forum) for a short period. ;)

Used to be they almost always showed up in FCC first, then were officially announced, but lately more and more that has flipped, expecially for the flagship devices.

Definitely trying to get rid of their Bionic stock, Han had the exact same experience.

You're assuming CSRs have more than a basic knowledge of phones in general, and as we've found, they don't. Don't even bother asking them for specific features, the one I talked to didn't even know what Ice Cream Sandwich was.
