***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

You sir, are no statistician. Each chance is independent of others. Doesn't matter if, independently, they add up to 100% or not.

Anyways-to the people getting in touch with Verizon employees and being dicks to them-stop, it's pathetic and juvenile.

Given my last post, I agree that it's useless to hit up CSR's, but I also think that calling out those who do as "immature", "babies", "idiots", or "dicks" is equally as pathetic and juvenile.

So can we all just agree to live and let live? Chatting with CSR's and "harrassing" them might rub some the wrong way, but it's also not the equivalent of kicking a puppy.

Wow, a whole 4 hours??!!
I know, I'm really complaining too much aren't I ;)

Well, they're still giving a lot of credence to the source who said that testing was continuing until the 19th. If that is so, I don't think they'd release 2 days later, especially if the testing cycle revealed some major bugs that had to be worked out before release.

Matias, a Google man, doesn't know what Verizon is doing, I don't think. I'm inclined to believe that Verizon doesn't even know the final date yet.

All I know is that this is getting really old, really fast.

I don't lend any credence to the bug rumors unless its an issue that can be fixed up via OTA. Which, depending on how quickly VZW can get its stock into stores may OR may not affect the Nov 21st date we're hoping for. Who knows right now. We're all playing the guessing game. And yes, it HAS become a real pain in the arse.

Who are the turtle assed morons google or vzw lol

Verizon. Google promised the device, and delivered the device. According to BMX, they were given to Verizon with the specs and date agreed upon. Verizon is dragging their stupid clown feet.

To play devils advocate they did say before end of the year, to me that means an week before christmas, but thats me.

I tend to agree with this. Verizon has that slippery, oily way of saying something and not technically lying, but still be D-bags about it. With the Bionic, they said "Coming this Summer" and released it 2 weeks before summer was over.

When they said "later this year" for the SGN, my first thought was "uh oh, we're looking at mid-December", but I didn't voice it because it was too negative and because there were too many leaks saying November 3.

Oh well. I'm really hoping that I like the HTC device tomorrow, so at least the wait won't be so miserable.

I don't really know what it means, but the first two lines on this page say that the current build of ICS (the one that dropped tonight) is only for the GSM version. I'm suspicious it means that tonight's release of AOSP has nothing to do with our Verizon release.

if they make it a point to say this is only for the GSM/HSPA version, i'm thinking that they are obviously not ready to drop the LTE/CDMA version just yet. whether or not that means they are still testing/seeing bugs remains anyone's guess.

while all the speculation seems to be taking its toll on some people, all of this excited activity about the release has re-energized me in some ways. i guess after a slow day at work today, this gives me something to look fwd to ha.

Guys and gals. Stop harassing sales reps... They know nothing, really nothing. And even if they do, they won't tell you anyway. Don't waste your and their time. :)

We already had a warning not to post these bogus chats. They don't know anything so stop talking their time.

Ty, bro.

By the way. I know this is off topic, but it needs to be said. GoogleFanBoy, if you are a Penn State fan (which is pretty obvious by your avatar) I just wanted to let you know that every Nebraska fan that made the trip up there over the weekend came away with nothing but good impressions and honest respect for your University, its football program and the fans. I've been born a Husker fan and will always be a Husker fan. We pride ourselves on sportsmanship, character and respect, and know it when we see it as well. Everyone I talked to had nothing but kind words to say about their experience surrounding game day. Good luck the rest of the way this year. Glad to be in the B1G!

Alright folks, off to bed. A few hours of sleep, then about 16 hours of non-productive work tomorrow while I stay glued to my Droid... pulling the battery, restarting, refreshing the page for updates... pulling the battery.... refre-- crash... pulling the battery.......

Ugh...They are not independent. A release on the 17 Nov disqualifies a release on the 18 Nov and beyond. :)

-Nkk

Not at this point it doesn't. It only disqualifies it if it happens, but as of this moment right now, they all share the same potential and possibility. You can calculate likelihood based on presented information, which is what he did.

If previous ruled out the potential, we'd never get past 0.

I feel bad for the Customer Service peeps at Verizon. I think people need to lay off of them, stop chatting with them online or on the phone and posting the conversations in here. It's fruitless and bordering on harassment. It's fine if you know someone or have a source but to just call up the poor headset jockey and waste their time, what a shame.

True story, I worked Customer Service for one of the Detroit automakers and we usually were the last people to know anything. I was there during the release of a new model and went through tech training on it. We were flat out told and given brochures that said AWD was for the European markets only and that it would not be released in the states with that option.
1 week after training we start getting calls asking for info on the AWD version, we tell the customers it's for Europe and the customers tells us that they just saw a commercial for it advertising AWD. Wouldn't you know it, this car company changed it's mind and didn't bother telling the customer service agents.

Well this is what i thought they want to give razr and rezound their time to shine , i would say at least three weeks or so before they will release the gn.

at least you have 2 other choices for killer phones. The people stuck on att or tmobile really dont have the choices. From what i have been reading the skyrocket is super buggy , as in if you are in an lte area huge chance of your internet not even working on the skyrocket...

perhaps i'm missing something btw... but how do i make this thread a favorite on the phandroid app?

40hrs+/wk @ work and grad school on top of it tends to make the obvious, well, less obvious.

Sleep well! 16 hours of unproductive work day is exhausting. I know!

Guys just keep reminding yourselves of why you want the Nexus in the first place....

4.65" screen, HD display, ICS right out of the box, software buttons, no bloat, PURE GOOGLE, timely updates right when they are ready!!! When I tell myself stuff like that, it calms some of the crazy that is built up inside of me regarding this release.

It should be in your list of subscribed apps. Set your preferences to open the subscribed threads and voila!

Do a long-press on the forum name "Samsung Galaxy Nexus" and it will be in your favorites.

Emphasis mine.

I'm sorry...are you asserting that a release on the 17th does not disqualify a release on the 18th? I don't understand....

EDIT to add that I am not pursuing this debate further. It is not a big deal, and the OP of the stats and I concluded our ribbing/whatever it was. I have no interest in pontificating about methods of statistical analysis right now.

The rep I chatted with thanked me for making her work day a little more fun. We talked trash about the Iphone and everything, LOL

Each date is an independent action.

Though his methodology is wrong, with the information provided-

We can ascertain likely dates.

That means on the 17th there is a 37% out of 100% (i'm making this up as I have no reason or intent to come up with a likely scenario. The phone is released when it's released.).

If the 17th does not happen, that increases the likelihood of it happening on the 18th or later. And with each subsequent day that likelihood goes up.

Each day is an independent possibility, not the same possibility. They are independent of one another statistically, but share linkage based on probable outcomes.
