***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Soooo....

We passed FCC and now there is talk of a delay - ANOTHER ONE - into December?

And now some of us have hatched a grand plan to buy a RAZR/ReZound and hold onto it until Nexus comes out, paying only the $35 restocking fee to switch phones.

BUT....

What happens if Verizon has a grand plan of its own?

What if there's yet ANOTHER delay and Nexus isn't released until 1/16/12... the day AFTER the return policy expires?

Folks, I would go into this return plan with great trepidity. I personally would love to bite, but I will NOT risk owning a ReZound for the next 2 years, when I can limp along on my OG Droid until it's released. It's a gamble I'm simply not willing to take.
You know, I've been thinking about this a lot today, and I've arrived at a different conclusion. I am willing to take that risk. I don't believe that the GNex will be delayed until January 16th, and if it does, I think I'd be happy with a Rezound (except for the stupid name).

After mulling it over since this morning, I've decided that I'm going to sit tight until Friday. If, on Friday, we don't have a firm date in the near future, I'm heading to my local Verizon store, signing up as a new customer (hasta la vista AT&T), and walking out with a Rezound. When the GNex comes out, I'll just exchange it. On the other hand, if the GNex gets pushed back beyond January 15th (extremely unlikely, IMHO), then I still have a slick and powerful Android phone that should see ICS sometime in Q1/Q2 of 2012.

There's a lot I don't know at this point, but one thing I do know is that I can't put up with this POS Blackberry 9000 for another month (or longer). I've been in the market for a new phone since July, and in the meantime I've spent a ridiculous amount of effort keeping that thing limping along. At some point I've got to say "enough."

Hey guys. I am getting my pre-release Galaxy Nexus from Samsung tomorrow. I am a Samsung Mob!ler so get their devices to review and share information on. I have started a new thread with the same name as this reply. Please feel free to ask me any questions or ask for any content on this thread. If I am being a bit slow off the mark in responding you can give me a virtual nudge by tweeting me @andrewmcsweeney

Very cool! I don't know how you will be receiving the Galaxy Nexus, but if you're in a position to ask someone "in the know" about U.S. and International release dates, you would have hundreds of new friends if you pass that info along. :D

Right off the bat, more than one of us will be interested in battery life. I imagine it will take a few days to get a read on it. Thanks for offering to field questions. Have fun! ***Jealous***

I wish I would know if the phone was going to be web only or if it was going to be sold at retail stores. I would like to go into my VZW store and pick up a Rezound because my OG Droid is on it's last leg and I'd like a good phone to hold me over while I wait for this great phone.

If it's W/O though then I don't think I can exchange the phone for the Galaxy Nexus. If I'm incorrect about this though I may stop into my Verizon store tomorrow and pick up a new phone, maybe even try out the 4S? Nahhhh, I don't want to shatter the glass.

Who cares what it's called? Really. I checked it out this afternoon, it's NOT that thick. Pretty much feels/looks like my Dinc. Fits well in the pocket too.

The people there knew nothing about the SGN as usual......

I can't agree with you enough here, Chief. I know it's hard waiting and I don't have an OG Droid on life support, but I don't understand the "buy and return" philosophy.

Not that I think there's anything any of us can do to convince VZW to release GNex soonor rather than later, but I would rather put the pressure on them by NOT purchasing one of these devices and contribute to falsely inflating their sales figures. There's a reason they "temporarily" modified their return policy. I won't pretend to understand the internal business decisions at VZW but I just can't help but wonder if those that opt for the "buy and return" aren't playing into their hand.

I'm waiting for the Galaxy Nexus.

It's called Christmas. Not everything is a conspiracy against the SGN, folks.

Hey! I will email the contacts I have in the UK. Unfortunately they are very hush hush so unless its information already released I won't be able to get my hands on anything new.

LMAO we don't even know when its coming to verizon so how do you expect anyone to know that

Have no idea..haven't kept up with the news on this in two weeks. I expected it to be coming out by December at the latest. Some sort of delay? Alot of shopping has to get done..this better add up.

I really don't care much about the name. I'm not a fan, but it's not going to keep me from considering a purchase. I care far more about specs/capability than I do about what silly name the manufacturer/carrier came up with for the device.

Okay but read the fine print and make sure it's a refund and not an EXCHANGE... ;)

From VZ page:

Purchases (excluding tablets and accessories) made between November 15 and December 28, 2011 may be returned or exchanged through January 9, 2012, subject to a $35 restock fee for wireless devices. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless

I tell you the truth, when the csr told me he was going into the back to look for the demo gnex, I thought I hit paydirt and I was going to have a heart attack. I'm going back to the store to ask him if he has the demo in yet. He'll show me. He's an amazing. He sits there and listens to me talk about the different android phone, the pluses and minuses, the strengths and weaknesses. Great guy.

Does someone have a man-crush? It's OK, it happens to the best of us.
