***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I have been in the Atlanta area for almost 22 years. During that time, it has gone from a wonderful place to live, to the current miserable state. As a home improvement contractor, ANY price you give to someone is too high. Houses are rotting down, and homeowners want me to fix them for nothing. I tell them I can stay home and make no profit with a lot less hassle.

The point being, EVERYONE in the ATL seems to be surly, suspicious, all the way to not giving a damn. If I was gonna track down a VZW person to talk to, it would NOT be in Atlanta. I would expect to get just what you got.

Like it or not, PEOPLE determine how this kind of call will go. And PEOPLE in Atlanta reflect the bad attitudes that fear generates.

Sad, and not necessary.

One point of view. Mine differs....slightly. I've been here since, well all my life 43 years and am a General Contractor of 18 years. I've been busier since the economic plunge as people are staying in their homes renovating. It's been booming for me, I've been very blessed.

As for the sgn in the ATL my verizon store is all over it. My 2 guys stay on top of it and 1 of them even posts here. Thing is I don't ask for ETA's and waste their time. I did once and got my answer and that was all I needed to know. I've been to corporate stores and I've seen the attitude you speak of. Simple for me, I no longer give them my business.

Being sent to indirect stores today...

After the lack of customer service, I just don't know if I want VZW to have any more of my money. I get better service from the CSR getting paid $8.00/hr than the corporate complaint department, and that just doesn't make sense. She wasn't willing to do anything but tell me how I was wrong for being disappointed. It was truly disappointing. I told her I was more frustrated with VZW after talking to her than I was when I sent the email. Once again, she didn't seem to care, but went into a "canned" sounding response, i.e., "Once again I apologize, blah blah blah...." It reminded me of a flight attendant reading the procedure for loss of cabin pressure. You know how you can tell they know it better than their social security number, and rushy through it barely understandable, but you get the gist afterwards?

I'm sure there are a few bad apples there. I personally can't stand the Gunbarrel VZW store- I've always had bad experiences there. But last night called into VZW and asked them to give me back my $50 off from the NE2...and they did!.... Some will be helpful and some people don't get it. That's everywhere. You want the Galaxy Nexus.

Oh yeah, materials are surfacing, accessories are coming out, we have a lot of sources all pointing to the same release date period.... the only thing we're missing at this point is something official from Verizon. :)

Why? Transitioning the phone from a normal hold to your pants pocket seems to be easiest with the jack on the bottom. Just my observation.

That does makes sense, but the only time my phone is in my pocket while listening to music is if it's raining. Otherwise, I'm using it while listening or it's on a dock. All putting the port on the bottom does is force me to be more careful about snagging the cable, be mindful of it not getting in front of the screen, and reduce my cable slack length.

Stores don't typically get things too far before something official is announced... I would guess today or tomorrow Verizon will speak. Just my speculation.

LOL, and I'd love to be able to sell my house and LEAVE!

In my business, things are better everywhere outside of Atl. The only redeeming factor is the sheer size of the pie means there are things to do. But that part of the pie is being split into too many pieces. When contractors operate with no liability insurance, workers comp or are even here illegally, they have less overhead to cover and price accordingly.

Welcome South, brother! Most folks are pleasant, till you start talking about their job or their money or their rotting house....LOL

I am in Woodstock. Do you ride motorcycles? Nirvana is about an hour north....

Thanks for the welcome! I've found people here to be fairly present for the most part. Or at least pleasant to your face...lol. I've also noticed that the housewives that live in my subdivision love to gossip, so much so that it's almost stereotypical, so who knows what they say behind my back :D

I'm very close to Woodstock...in fact I'm in a corner of Acworth where I can practically walk to Woodstock. The closest Verizon store to me is actually on 92 in Woodstock, near the Target.

I don't ride motorcycles, but I've been thinking about doing that later in life. I did go up to the mountain areas up north a month or so ago, very beautiful. Overall I do like the area, I just need time to get used to the layout here. All subdivisions and shopping malls. I'm used to the suburbs/grid kinda layout.

Are you holding the phone upside down? Not sure why your headphone cord would be in front of the screen if the port is below it.

Geez I will be out most of the day today and will probably miss any important announcements. :( I will also be out of town on the 21st :(:( So I have got to figure out the best solution to guarantee I get a phone as soon as possible. Otherwise I am pretty excited about the recent news:D

You are also correct. Perhaps I over generalized to the negative side? LOL

I am a corporate casualty. My business is only 2 years old. My friends and former customers, well, a good number of them, are busy as well. Newer businesses without 15 or 20 years of referrals in the bank have a harder time getting the opportunity to bid simply because we are newer, as a business.

I still find that a higher percentage of folks than ever are surly and rude. On the roads, in the stores, even at their homes.

But you are right, there are exceptions, as usual. As neil Boortz says, "when I say everybody, I dont mean EVERYBODY". LOL

Holy crap. I spend a couple months on a different forum and I come back to all my old friends from the Droid Incredible pre-release thread behaving in much the same way as they did last April (that's a good thing).

Good to see you guys!

Bring on the Nexus!
