***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Welcome to the forums! :)

Personally, I place little stock in web videos of any resolution when judging a phone display.

If you don't have a digital camera locking pixels 1-to-1 when making the vid, and if you don't have lossless compression (yeah, an oxymoron for digital imaging of any kind) and if you don't have 1-to-1 mapping of the playback to your monitor, you're going to see moire patterns and worse.

Thank you! And, you're absolutely right... The Galaxy Nexus screen should have about 1440 subpixels (horizontally) so by Nyquist-Shannon (that applies, right? ;)) there's no way a 1920px-wide video can image it correctly. The good news is that the video should *add* artifacts, except for any smoothing caused by antialiasing or compression. So if anything, the actual phone should look better than what I'm seeing by my silly method.

This may have been asked already, didn't see it in the past few pages, but will Verizon make an official announcment or could this simply be a silent launch? Also, how quickly do you guys think the phone will sell out, should I order it online just to be safe, or should all stores be getting at least a few in stock?

I don't think we're sure yet, we've heard soft launch but who knows. I do worry about a supply shortage personally. Again, speculation on my part though.

Why? Transitioning the phone from a normal hold to your pants pocket seems to be easiest with the jack on the bottom. Just my observation.

Yeah I don't know about all of you but when I have headphones in it generally means I'm listening to music and the phone is going into my pocket. Whether the phone is upsidedown in my pocket doesn't matter to me at all.

Got a call from the executive offices. He didn't have much to say except he's going to contact me personally if he hears something about a specific launch day/time. He was nice. I will say its comforting to know you can reach the leadership of the company easily and quickly.

Finally getting a chance to check in, was home with my 23month old who was a bit under the weather.

1. Han, thank you and Hanette for the info you provided!

2. Steven, thank you and your source for the info!

3. Andrew (Samsung Mobi!e guy), thank you for all of your info till you got shut down.

4. New Guides, congrats!!!!

In case there is an issue with the way exchange is handled, Amazon is giving away an email exchange app: http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011

Not sure how well it works but it's FREE alternative just in case.

Quick question...:

Does anyone know if the Nexus will support FLAC or ALAC out of the box with Google Music Player? I have PowerAmp already but just was curious and wanted to know.

Also, quite a few pages back you guys were talking about small personal pouches for the phone, and how the G1 came with one. Any idea on where to order one of those or something similar. Someone replied back but digging through these pages for one post is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Thanks

Edit: My apologies if this isn't the right place to ask. Figured it would be the best and I'd get an answer quick because of the traffic this thread gets.
FLAC support was added to android in 3.1

I have to agree-- one of the best unspoken features of the RAZR. Screw the Cloud. Who needs to remember to upload content. This just streams pics, movies, and music directly from your home computer(s)- which obviously needs to stay on.

Is there anything comparable in the market?

I'm assuming you guys haven't seen Google Music. Not sure if it'll be syncing other media too, but definitely music. Nice feature with gmusic is that you have the option to store them locally across any device, regardless if you have service or not.

Another Lurker here, have been reading the forum for a week or two now and am so excited about the new info from Han and the Source that I wanted to say thanks! This forum is very informative and I think I'm hooked, much to my wife's dismay.

Also, can't wait for the Nexus to release and get rid of my BB (that's right, I'm referring to Blackberry and not to BabyBlues)!

Welcome to the show... :)

Good thing you weren't talking about BabyBlues.... alot of folks might get upset with you about that... :D

Been following this thread for a while decided to come out of lurking.

Have done some research into the Goggle Wallet thing. Looks like at the moment the only mobile carrier to support it Sprint. Since the others are trying to create ISIS.

Will see once the Nexus comes out if Goggle Wallet is available on VZ but I am not holding my breath on it.

New to the forum - thanks for all the great info!

Welcome to the nut house!

It is nice to know you can reach them. I just wish they knew more when you did. :)

The problem with google music is it takes forever to upload all of my music plus they only allow 20k songs, I have way more than that.

Any answer to this is going to be speculation.

I would have taken that. I am seriously considering leaving Verizon after talking to that cold woman on the phone. She needs to stick to something other than talking to customers, it's not her forte. I think I will send one more email, still being nice, but expressing my dissatisfaction with the response and service I received from her.

My understanding is that since the Galaxy Nexus will be a vanilla ICS device, that VZW won't have any control over which apps you decide to install. They probably made sure it didn't come preloaded, but can't stop you from loading it yourself.
