***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Popped in to my local VZW store today (before checking in here).

I asked the manager when the GNex was coming in, and he gave me a wink and said in a low whisper, "Come back tomorrow." Obviously he hasn't seen the latest from androidforums :D Or maybe he's got a demo unit coming in.

I proceeded to start playing around with the RAZR and Rezound. The Rezound is a really nice phone. It took a lot of will power to not buy it right there. Super responsive, great screen. Not a fan of Moto Blur on the RAZR.

While I was playing, one of the reps was helping a couple pick out a phone. The guy asked about the GNex. The rep said it wouldn't be out until December. (Obviously another non-reader). He then proceeded to tell the couple not to waste their time waiting for the GNex because ICS was no big deal and Samsung devices are all junk. He managed to talk the couple into buying the RAZR.

It really made me angry that the rep would spew so much garbage just to make a RAZR sale. I almost said something, but decided to just walk out.

Oh well. I think I'll stop buy tomorrow to see if they have a GNex demo.

things like this infuriate me. i know their living is based on commission, but intentionally misleading a person is just sleazy. the worst one for me occurred when i was buying my thunderbolt and overheard a VZ rep telling another customer that the iphone4 had 4G and would therefore be just as fast. i politely corrected him and was then asked to leave with a tirade about interfering with their sales process. needless to say, i have not visited that particular store since.

So out of curiosity, has any useful information ever been leaked via the testman site? We went through this "ZOMG TESTMAN IZ DAON" business back when we waited for the Incredible, and never got anything out of it.

I know promos have been leaked through there before. Something like this double data, that kind of info has been leaked through there before.

I think it was a change to family plan pricing before, or unlimited pricing.

Oh I LOVE sticking my nose in when I hear those conversations. I make sure the customer KNOWS the real deal. Normally the sale person will walk off when they see they lost their customer to another customer :D

Same here. Do that all the time at Best Buy, Office Depot, etc., when it comes to home networking and/or computer equipment. I hate watching a sales rep try to talk a little old lady into a wireless-N router that's twice the cost of a G router when all she wants to do is email her grandkids.

I'm gonna stop by the Verizon store tomorrow or Saturday (I mean it this time :D) and try my luck and maybe take a peek at the rezound :o
The reps at my store are pretty nice, I've noticed, so it can't hurt to try.

Don't you dare jump ship now! We're SOOOOO close!

Bring someone with you that you trust - before walking in hand that person your wallet and tell them to NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, HAND IT BACK UNTIL YOU ARE IN THE CAR
i kid. If you want to 'rent' it we won't hold it against you.

Nah, no worries, renting isn't really an option for me, so it's one or the other :). My Touch Pro2 has been cooperating recently (and by that, I mean the screen actually turns on when I press the button) so my patience is a little more. I'll wait until December, and if the Nexus isn't out yet then the Rezound it is.
But I have confidence in Hanette (I'm so proud to have coined that :p) and The Source! Week of the 21st it is!

Good afternoon, Gnexers!

Well, on my way back from my dental appointment I stopped into a corporate VZW store and asked a nice person there about Nexus - specifically about Monday. She went to the manager, and came back with "there is no firm launch date on Nexus... which is weird because we normally have dates set weeks in advance. But not with this phone."

Soft launch? I'm starting to think this will be Verizon's first truly SILENT launch. Since we're up against a weekend here, you would THINK that stores would have them in house by tomorrow, if it's truly going to launch Monday.

We must be ever-vigilant, because this thing could be released without our even knowing it. Check every day, folks. That's my advice. Every. Day.

She said what she was supposed to say ;)

Hello everybody, I thought I'd come out of the lurk-closet to pass along a little information that I heard today. As with all these other posts, take this with 77 grains of salt. My daughter was making a Chipotle run, and since the Verizon store is right across the street, I asked her to wander in and see if anybody was talking. She was casually checking out Razrs and fruit phones, so naturally one of the associates walked up to her, all ready to sell her something. She mentions that she was really interested in a Nexus, and wondered if he knew when they were going on sale. He told her they were expecting them on Saturday, the 19th. She then asked if Verizon would have made some kind of announcement by now, and he stated probably not, with this phone. Not sure what that even means.

Now, I really pondered whether or not my first post should be a "hey, I know something" kind of post, but I figured it was something to chew on, and you guys have been around long enough to know what this information is worth. Fortunately, it appears that we will soon know something concrete.

Thanks to everybody that contributes to this madness, but I believe it will be worth it.

Coincidentally, the Verizon retailer where I live is also right next to a Chipotle (same block of shopping center). Highland Park, IL? Or is Chipotle + Verizon a more common combination than I thought :P
