***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

So, that guy earlier must have been lying when he said he played with a demo unit.

They don't put out demo units 3 weeks before release, do they?

Phil at AC is pretty reliable, and seems to have good VZW sources. as someone posted earlier (and as i posted several weeks back) he's the same one who said back in July that a Sammy Nexus, with 4.6" screen and ICS was coming to VZW. so, if he says that VZW's bloatware is the holdup, i tend to give credence to that.

and, to your point, even if the bloat doesn't affect the OS, do you think VZW is going to release it?? i doubt it. if for nothing else than to save face, VZW will hold up the release until it gets its bloat working properly with the OS.

and after further thought, this info from Phil re: VZW bloatware kind of corroborates what Panda tweeted this morning (and quoted 30 pages back) about how sick he was of the "technical issues" rumors, and how he wished google.com/phone would just come back. that would also seem to indicate that any "technical issues" are strictly on VZW's side (i.e., the bloatware).

Look at the year. It's a joke. :p

Heck, read the text of the message. "Device testing has revealed the phone has a tendency to melt spontaneously, exposing customers to molten shrapnel and diminished quality. The device will be buried in an undersea cave until Verizon develops technology to harness its powers."

Well done whomever did it, gave me a much-needed chuckle.

Maybe. Personally, I have no use for the stock calendar app; does that make it bloatware? I'm actually much more likely to use the MyVZW app (and have used it), in fact.

I think the only way the term "bloatware" has any meaning is if we reserve it for apps that Verizon puts on the phone purely as revenue sources. Verizon makes no money from MyVZW or Backup Assistant; they include them because they think they're actually valuable to customers. (I'm not saying they're right...)

I'm not disagreeing with anybody's frustration over this issue, just suggesting we not inflame things further by slinging around terms like "bloatware" for anything we don't like.

the term "bloatware" does have some negative connotation to it, but i think it mainly means something that is added to the phone which isn't part of the OS - i.e., it's just non-essential "bloat"... i personally think MyVZW and BUA would fall into this category, since they are added by VZW, but don't have anything to do with the OS.

At least check out the HTC device first. If it wasn't for Nexus coming, I'd be extremely happy with that. The screen is amazing.

I actually think the uh, HTC device, looks good, I'm just tired of the games, poor PR, bad information whatever you want to call it and the only way I can "tell" that to Verizon is to give someone else my money. Unfortunately I don't have a 10,000 member family plan so it will literally do nothing.

And maybe I will just stop incessantly checking the forum and in a few weeks pick up the GNex when I see it on the shelf at Best Buy. I've just never been like this about a consumer product and its driving me nucking......well you know.

Occupy Verizon, anyone?

I mean...without us, they're nothing, right? Bloatware, terrible communication, marketing...all of this is a bit past ridiculous. I don't have an issue paying $299 for a great phone, but what I do have an issue with is giving my money to a company who could care less about it's consumers.

Seriously, let's get this started. We could blow some twitter and fb up.

This does it. I'm going to my local Verizon store tonight or tomorrow and buying a Rezound. I'll return it when the Nexus comes out (or after 2 weeks, which ever comes sooner), but I can't stand my blackberry any longer. :(

Verizon doesn't have the stock of phones to meet demand, so they're throwing us a fake date, 3 weeks away, hoping we'll stop bugging them. Then they can silently release the phone on schedule and - they wrongly assume - we won't know about it until current supplies run out. Then they have 3 weeks to get more in.

I know, I know, I'm grasping at straws here. I'd rather be grasping my Nexus :)

Broke down and went to the VWZ store this evening. The Razound is not as thick as I thought it would be and the screen is very nice. Wasn't that impressed with the Razr. If I had to select between the two....which I hope I don't....then I would go with the Razound.

I did ask about the GN but I got the same answer as most did, no date set. He did say he didn't think it would be a preorder sale and that they would have the phones in stock.

um just saw the post on phandroid as i was logging in and the OP title change...who has jumped? I hope a warning came first to step away from all sharp objects.

So does Verizon just not care about their corporate image? Do they realize how incompetant they look to the tech world with these delays? No one else has these kinds of problems, at least that I can tell. But now three big launches in one year have been complete busts on their network (Thunderbolt, Bionic, and now GNex). I mean they look like amateurs.

Go for it, but it'll do about as much good as throwing tennis balls against a concrete wall. VZW clearly doesn't care about their customers as long as they continue to pay their bills on time, and they have so many customers, what do they care if they piss off a few thousand by f-ing up the GNex launch?

Below is the VZW CEO, just to demonstrate my point:

I rest my case.
