To Whom it May Concern:
My name is ******* and I am speaking on behalf of thousands of members of android forums from multiple popular internet sites, as well as countless other Verizon customers and future Galaxy Nexus-owners.
We were very excited to see the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in Hong Kong back in October. We were even more thrilled when it was announced that it would be releasing in the United States in “November”. Given the fact that Verizon Wireless has an exclusive right to release the Galaxy Nexus, it was an obvious reference to the fact that we could expect you to make it available during this current month.
Our excitement has, unfortunately, given way to grave disappointment as we see that you have failed to communicate any information regarding a release, other than a simple announcement that you would be carrying it “later this year”. According to a poll on Droid-Life.com (Monday Poll: Now That All Three Have Been Announced – Galaxy Nexus, Rezound, or RAZR? – Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog), over 10,000 customers are eagerly anticipating the Galaxy Nexus (71%) but have received no further indication from Verizon to give them reason to do so.
According to many of our sources (some of which are employed by Verizon and Google), the Motorola DROID RAZR and HTC Rezound are not selling as well as previously hoped, even with the implementation of a “Double Data” program. Those countless individuals among us who are waiting for the Galaxy Nexus feel that we are unfairly being withheld a release date in order for Verizon to sell more of these other devices (this is according to our sources within your company). There are also rumors that the principal reason you are withholding a release date is so that you can work out certain technical difficulties with your own Verizon-branded applications, which we feel smacks of corporate arrogance.
A troubling fact is that we have confirmed that many of us are seriously contemplating simply buying a RAZR or a Rezound with the full intention of returning it once the Galaxy Nexus is made available. Most of us have refrained from acting out on those thoughts out of respect for Verizon, but that respect is rapidly dwindling in the face of your lack of communication. “Renting” those devices, as we refer to it, would only incur additional costs for your company and the loss of the ability to sell those refurbished devices as “new”.
Another reason we feel that your lack of communication is ultimately hurting your company is because many Verizon customers are very seriously considering leaving the carrier (or already have) for another, more open carrier such as AT&T (whose LTE service is spreading out in ever more greater areas). As much as I, and plenty of others, love Verizon, we are growing extremely frustrated with being kept out of the loop on even a simple announcement of a release date, especially when we see so many other areas of the world (UK, Canada, Asia, etc.) get either an announcement of a pre-order date, or the device itself.
Given the above, I respectfully but firmly demand that we receive a confirmed release date from Verizon, so as to relieve the extreme stress in the community. Our stress levels have garnered internet blog attention, along with all of the advertising potential that entails, but it will certainly soon grow into a hotbed of rants and negative comments, which will ultimately reflect poorly on your company’s lack of communication.
Please give us some information.
You have until 5pm on Monday, November 21, 2011 to give us a release date. If you fail to comply with this request, I can promise you that you will witness the implementation of our “rental program” regarding your other devices, and you will witness our tremendous push for our members to leave Verizon in droves.
We’ve had enough. The ball is in your court.
Thank you for your attention and time.
Sincerely,
