Call the White House and the President answers! :D

Hiya compadre, nice to see you! :)

Yep, I think we have some sanity on the letter approach restored.

I almost thought that the second part of your question was to recall the Thunderbolt launch. ;)

Nice to see you as well :p

Ya this whole thread reminds me of INC/TBOLT all over again. Its nice to sit back and watch than have to hand out timeouts ;)

Just got off the phone with Tony.(He runs things up North and I run thing in the South). And we both agree to enforce a pre-order on Monday.

So the bottom line is that this will be taking care of late Monday morning.
We gave the boys off for the weekend.;)

The biggest selling point imo are the straight from Google updates, if that is not going to be the case and everything will be prolonged in testing by vzw, then this phone has lost its appeal to me.

Agreed. ICS with straight-from-Google updates are the main selling point. If VZW is holding it back to throw bloat on it, though, I don't think it's a big deal.

If they lock the bootloader down and encrypt it, that's another story, and I'll be going with something else.

Holy Smokes.......

Everyone should just relax and settle down. The December 8th release date has been in place for at least 4 weeks now so sending letters and stomping your feet on twitter and FB isn't going to change a darn thing.

You guys are looking at the earliest a December 8th release. Yes that's right it could go OVER a few days.

It's a phone. Move on with your lives. It's coming in a few weeks. You've wasted hours and hours of your life on this thread and will never get that time back. Go out and live life and you will see that in the grand scheme of things this is meaningless. Go out and have fun for crying out loud. It will give you a whole new perspective on what is important in life and I can assure you a phone is not even on that list.

Get outta here and live!!!!!!!! :)

Like you have any room to talk. You were so tired of waiting you went out and got a razr. At least we have made it farther than you :p

Am I correct in assuming that we want a Rob letter and article? I really do. After all, if it ends up as a Phandroid article, I believe it will get more attention.

He can feel free to write a letter, but plenty of tech sites have written editorials on how botched the release of this phone has been. I sincerely doubt another is going to make any difference regardless of whatever contacts Rob may have at VZW.

Simply put this is the way they do business--a complete lack of respect for their customers and what they want. Writing complaint letters is going to fall on deaf ears also, which is the only reason why I hesitate writing a letter of my own even though it would make me feel better.

The only thing that will make VZW change the way they do business is to lose subscribers. And it's not going to happen (as evidenced by this thread) until AT&T gets their head out of their ass and invests in infrastructure. So we might as well bend over and take it.

I read a handful of posts of people saying that they can't wait any longer so they're getting a RAZR or Rezound.

Stay strong everyone! This is exactly what Verizon wants us to do... don't give in to your frustrations just yet. Galaxy Nexus will definitely come by mid-December at latest. If you REALLY can't wait that long, best bet is to switch to AT&T or T-Mobile and get the GSM model; that way, it'll show Verizon that they're losing customers. Of course, many of us can't do that for various reasons, so like I said... DON'T GIVE IN.

Galaxy Nexus is what we want and it's what we'll get!
Stay positive :D

It still has other things going for it besides ICS:
NFC
4.65" 720P Display
5 Megapixel Camera (that's right) with near zero shutter lag, panoramic mode, editing tools, etc..
Updates straight from Google - First

Having said that - ICS is a big selling point :)
If posible NFC will be the first thing I kill on my phone that's identity theft waiting to happen.

Because it's a phone that's already out in certain parts of the world, has a known release date for Canada, and asking for a firm release date for Verizon isn't too much to ask?

Unless they're specifically trying to have a surprise release date, they should announce when it's coming out especially if it's supposed to be within the next 3 weeks. It seems unreasonable that they wouldn't know which makes people believe that they're just doing it for a money grab for people who buy a Razr or Rezound.

And getting a letter is not the worst thing in the world. I'm sure they'll get over it.

It may be.

The one thing Verizon won't do is miss a release date. That makes they look far far far worse. If there are problems with testing, they are waiting for confirmation that everything works before giving a release date.

If it were for marketing reasons, similarly they are holding back a date to prevent the phone from hurting sales of other handsets (which I don't believe, BTW).

Either way, giving a firm date now may:
1. Hurt sales of other devices (doubtful, but popular theory)
2. Cause them great embarassment if that date isn't held due to technical issues.

So you can see, a firm date, while better for us, isn't better for them.

I don't really see Google waiting for Verizon approval on updates.

I think we should just let those who think it's useful to have Rob write the letter and article continue to think so without being criticized, and those who think it's a stupid ass idea should also just continue to think that without being criticized.

You diplomat, you. ;)

On a side note, I downloaded the new Google Music app and I love it! It's very clean and very ICS-like. If this is a taste of what's to come, I think I can wait out the rest of the year if need be.

Plus I've got m DINC2 to comfort me, lol.

I would think that was pretty much a guarantee.

NFC is off when the screen is off. And there are more uses then just paying for things. Was the thing that pushed me over the edge and made me want to ditch my thunderbolt.

In re: 16 gig vs. 32 gig.

The reason P3 (and CZ and PP and others) have (or will have) 16 gig models is they have bought engineering models from their Sammy contact (who again used to work for Moto) that they have known for years.

The word from the Sammy dude is the engineering models are 16 gig, the VZW production models will have 32 gig. Or to quote:

"Wrongengineering units are 16Gb, VZW will only have 32Gb version from what I'm told as of this am. & P3 posted it has USB mass"

And again, any speculation on locked bootloaders or bloatware simply do not know what the "Nexus" name means when it is on an Android phone. It means an unlock(able) bootloader developer phone with a pure Google experience, just like the Motorola A855.

I see your point but I manage in retail for a large corporation and we do not treat our customers this way. When we slip up, we openly take responsibility. It is THE best way to gain and RETAIN customers.

2 problems: I was looking at next week when Han's sister said next week. I was looking at this month when Matias said that it would be November. He is someone at Google that should know.

Yeah but there is a BIG difference from your retail management position to what the executives of a major corporation do.

I think we should just let those who think it's useful to have Rob write the letter and article continue to think so without being criticized, and those who think it's a stupid ass idea should also just continue to think that without being criticized.

I am simply trying to understand the point in what writing the letter will accomplish. I do not personally think it is a stupid ass idea until I understand the reason behind it. Can you tell me what VZW has done wrong? Seriously, not starting anything, just trying to figure out what it is to deserve a letter.

Another note from my friend who's a salesman at VZW, when I speculated that there were issues with the phone that needed fixing, and that was causing the delay:

Yeah everything is 100% operational per the unit I used.

They're pushing the razr but everyone is waiting on the nexus to decide. Our quotas this month were based off having the nexus so if it gets delayed much more, I'm gonna be an angry guy
Yeah, he's not in management and isn't "in the know" as far as all that goes, but I'm still posting it FWIW.

Edit: I think the comment about quotas is interesting. It sounds like VZW is/was planning on releasing the GNex this month and already accounted for the effect it would have on Razr sales. Maybe we will see this phone next week...
