***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

This might be a longshot but does anyone in here play SC2? Or watch MLG? These games are crazy right now...

This post was just to tantalizing for me to remain a lurker on these boards :P.

I'm a pretty avid SC2 player, but I haven't been keeping up with MLG because of all of the GNexus excitement.

I play protoss btw.

So I've been thinking...

Maybe there's some truth to this Verizon delay due to "testing issues"

There's been a lot of negative press following the initial UK launch, like complants about the SAV (Self Aware Volume) bug, Flash, the guy who got the developer build, etc.
My first thought was, oh, it's a Nexus device, what else do you expect?

But then I realized, is that what any of us wanted? I, for one, really want to see the GN go mainstream, and give the iPhone some serious competition. I really want the Galaxy Nexus to become a household name like the iPhone.
Is that possible with a glitchy phone? Average consumers expect polish and flawlessness, and that's why the iPhone is so successful.

So, whether intentional or not, Verizon's given Google some extra time to roll out bug fixes before mass release in the US. I think the extra week's wait is worth it.
I really don't want to be disappointed with the phone. So maybe a delay wouldn't be all that bad if Google (and Verizon, re: the VZ apps) worked hard to make sure that upon release, the phone would be as perfect as possible.

Remember back in the summer when there were reports that ICS had been rescheduled from a December release to an October/November release to compete with the iPhone? I'm sure, in part, has led to this delay.

Don't get me wrong, I detest Verizon's lack of communication as much as the next Gnexer, but I'm all for giving them a little more time to make this the best phone in the world. :)

please don't flame me :o

Where is the nexus!

That all sounds great in theory, but what about the fact that the Rezound came out like 3 days later and Verizon had (reportedly) planned on releasing the GNex as early as monday?

Good points. However, the millions of advertising dollars are clearly promoting the Razr. Personally, I have seen very little, if any, advertising push for the Rezound. I don't watch that much TV, and for me to see a boatload of Razr commercials tells me something about how extensive and important this is for Motorola to get their product in the limelight now.

OK it's a little disturbing and exciting at the same time to think this thread could reach 1000 pages before release....

Have we even had a thread this insane before? :)
AFAIK, our goal is to beat the Droid Incredible pre-release thread, which holds the current record.

I just wish they would have all of this stuff worked out and ready to go BEFORE they announce a new product.

Welcome to the forums, eZpZ! :)

Thanks EarlyMon!

I feel like I'm probably going to leave after I get my Nexus :( ; forum posting is SO addicting for me especially. That and playing with a new phone may cause me to fall behind in classes...have been f5'ing this thread every day in lecture.

From what I read the volume complaints have only affected a few, theyre definitely not widespread.

No flash but there is HTML 5

There was only ONE guy who got a dev phone.

None of these seems like justified grounds to delay the release. I still think it's a verizon issue not sammy/google

With Star Wars you have to watch the originals first. If you must watch the prequels you absolutely have to watch Plinket's reviews right after.

They are pushing the razr because it has their droid name on it. Makes sense to me.

I play Protoss too...I am watching MLG right now (Live @ mlgpro.com). Naniwa and Nestea are going into game 3 right now...and then next is MC and Idra.

PM me if you want to talk about the games...great so far tonight.

And Welcome to AF :)

I'm just about to do this too! Would you mind if I PM'd you for more details about how you did it?

yes, me too. i always wanted to root and play around with my OG droid.

Well, I wasn't completely honest.....my husband did it for me. He said he just followed the direction on this website: Motorola Droid: Full Update Guide - CyanogenMod Wiki

...and he used super one click root. Honestly I have no idea what that means, but I am going to learn. I am pretty tech savvy, but have never bothered to learn about any of this.

The thing with all of Google releases they all seem to be beta. Look at the Google tv debacle

Please don't get me wrong, I agree that there's no real major issues with the phone, and it's amazing, and all that.

What concerns me is the large amount of negative press these small issues are getting. When people read the volume horror stories, they won't stop and think, "oh, that's not affecting very many people", they'll just think about that bug when considering the Gnex for their next phone.

My point is, even if the delay is purely Verizon's fault, the US avoids these glitches.

Agreed. I've been saying this from day 1 (technically day 11/7 when we first thought we'd get the GNex).
