***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I almost pulled the trigger over the weekend for a razr to hold me over until the nexus gets here, but I just couldn't do it.....it's like I am a glutton for punishment and need to sit on these forums hoping for news while I suffer with my inc that lasts 3 hours on a charge now....I had that little voice in my head saying "but these is a chance you can order a nexus Monday..."

Given the way things are going we'll smash the Dinc. thread easily. Not that I consider that a good thing. Mostly because a fair part of this thread's size is due to VZW jerking us around. (yes I blame them mostly)

Ya if the phone is released on 12/08(seams most likely at this point) I'll be fine with it if verizon just says "look we're going to have this phone available on December 8th"

I feel ya, The Dinc. never had good battery life and after two years of abuse the poor girls doesn't have much left in her. :(

If Verizon made an announcement that it wouldn't be available until January, I would have a Rezound by the end of the day today.

I think I would just tough it out to May when my current 2 year contract expires and make a decision about what I want to do if that happened... especially if it was mid to late January.

I had sent some emails to Verizon when everyone was talking about doing so and received this response. It sounds like a normal corporate response but figured I would share it with you anyway.

Dear #####,

Thanks for your e mail to so many members of our executive staff.

I understand your concerns surrounding the release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and appreciate your wanting to know a firm release date for the device.

Unfortunately, until a device passes our testing to meet the requirements for our network and our customer experience with the device, we cannot determine the exact release date.

While we can anticipate a release of devices, our concern is that if we were to announce a release date in advance and the manufacturer cannot meet that date for production or development reasons, we ultimately end up creating a negative customer experience, which is not something that we would like to do.

I wish that I could provide you with a specific date for release however, what I can tell you is that a release will be announced when the device is ready for market and we are sure that the customer experience with the device is one that is positive.

Knowing that you are anticipating bringing your business to Verizon Wireless, I would rather you have a positive experience with the transition and being delayed than regretting your decision to switch carriers based on a device being released prematurely.

I hope that this helps you to understand our practice and you continue to be patient for the release of the device you are awaiting.

Thank you for considering Verizon Wireless and hope that you do decide to do business with us in the future.

Good morning BB! :)

Morning Highwayman!

At this point I would rather a date from VZW than just being left in the dark and im sure eveyone feels this way. Even if its December/January.

+1

If Verizon made an announcement that it wouldn't be available until January, I would have a Rezound by the end of the day today.

I'd still be waiting - my DInc is still taking my abuse like a champ and her three batteries are going strong too.

looks like we will easily surpass the DInc thread since we have 2 and more weeks to whine about how bad verizon sucks

That's kind of sad in a way. But it just goes to prove I have really good taste in phones. :D

Speaking of weather, BB, it's rainy here... so little else to do other than sit here with you guys while converting my Star Wars movies to Nexus format in preparation for this phone :)

BTW folks, DVD Catalyst 4.1.1.0 is the latest version and has 5 settings for Samsung Galaxy Nexus!

Also off topic: we're on track to become the #1 thread in AF history THIS WEEK! Here's hoping we get some news on Nexus to get us fired up again!

Back ON topic: My Source didn't return my call so I'll try again this afternoon. I'd like to get their take on this drama... and maybe even a call to the bat-phone just before launch :D

Hi Chief! Maybe we'll have to figure out how to get those converted movies onto my phone so I can watch them on my shiny new toy!

or Tuesday, or Wednesday......or VZW will stop jerking us around like marionette's and let us know. Yeah - I have that voice too.

I personally am not in a rush for this phone because my current hardware is old or failing... I feel really bad for those of you trying to hold together your failing hardware....:( I am in a rush because I do want a 2 year phone, which I believe the GN will be for me.... I too like many of you would have been happy with a GS2, but since VZW decided to decline...

So I will not be buying a rental, unless something changes! But I am tired of the VZW lack of communication.....:(

Thanks for letting me rant.... :)

Verizon wants to have ultimate control over phone releases, which is why they never announce stuff until the last minute. If they want to change something, they can. A date only boxes them into a corner, and they can no longer change it at their whim to sell a few more RAZRs. Unfortunately, like The Source's convo with a higher up stated, the release is flexible. No date is set in stone, even inside Verizon. They will release it when they want to. Even the Dec 8th date is just the latest date being thrown around, even if there is documentation supporting it. This leaked info was never meant for the public's eyes, and Verizon will continue to act like it doesn't exist, so if they decide to push it back to Dec 29th, they can, and will, and it won't bother them at all. We all hate it, especially because we DO see the leaks, we DO hear the inside info, so we KNOW Verizon is jerking us around, even if they want to pretend they aren't.

Here is something for you guys to ponder this morning. Everyone is so sure the Verizon SGN will be 32gb because of all the leaked Verizon documents. Well guess what, not a single one of those so called "leaked" documents have been true to peg a release date.

So think about this on the 16gb vs 32gb thing. Do you still really think that our only legit source Google (who MADE the phone with samsung) is Wrong on their web page who intentionally changed the memory spec to only 16gb, because multiple shady (at best) documents that are suppose to be from Verizon state that it will have 32gb. Your thoughts??

Have Plan B ready: 6 months from now the Nexus will be a below average phone. Is it worth it now to lock in for another 2 years? Sorry, but that is the way I see it now. Available for flaming.

I ended up joining the rental program sponsored by Verizon and Motorola. Had already sold my Bionic after the "confirmed" news here of the "week of 11/21" ......nice up. had no other choice at that point. This just proves that there is only 1 source, and it aint P3, BMX, texting piano playing sisters, Mandingo, or Luigi....it is Verizon.

Good morning everyone -- hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Saw some football talk trying to catch up on these posts from the weekend. Jets played (and lost) on Thursday so my interest this weekend was a little less than normal.

These Canada 12/8 dates are giving some validity to US 12/8 dates although since they are getting a GSM version they might be totally unrelated.

BTW I made a post to clear up some of the USB mass storage issues I saw mentioned a bunch of times: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/447899-usb-mass-storage.html

I respect that. No flaming. This is the phone I have been waiting for, though. If I keep it for two years or not, that's up in the air, but I will get this phone.

Verizon really needs to get on top of this. There is NO reason to not give us a release date for this phone.

I'm getting sick of seeing "Ohhhhh RAZR sales will be hurt" because where is the information that Verizon even cares about RAZR sales? Where is the information that they are honestly making money from selling a RAZR as opposed to the Galaxy Nexus?

Just my two pennies, but I'm getting fed up with this BS. I wish Google would have partnered with T-Mobile and I would have had this phone in my hands by now, and I would be done with Verizon.

Well Verizon puts plenty of bloatware on the RAZR and all their other phones. This in itself is a revenue stream for Verizon. Even if the Nexus comes with the two mentioned verizon apps, thats their own software and they are not receiving money from anyone to put those apps on there.

I told myself that if there was no confirmed news from Verizon by the 21th, I would register and join the party!
Not sure if this has been posted, but Ars Technica released a review on the phone, not focusing on ICS as that will be a seperate review.
I never really care for cameras or total space in phones since I always carry a Nikon D7000 and a 120 GB iPod. I have only taken 10 pictures with my Droid over the last two years and that was only because I did not have another camera.

I was planning to use the OTG to watch and transfer videos, but reports are not looking good on that front. I just want more than 256 MB of space for apps... G+ and Maps takes 5% of space each...

Oh, and NFC and ICS

this morning, on tv...and i forgot to mention even last night/yesterday, during some football games..i didn't see a commercial for the galaxy nexus

So has anyone heard when the double data promotion is ending??? Really hoping not November since it looks like the Nexus won't come out till December. I just wish they'd open up a pre-order since I'm assuming that would lock me into the double data.
