Where is this confirmed by Samsung? Link please
I think it's just a word of mouth thing, if you search "galaxy nexus fortified glass" you'll see the articles state that Samsung said it's fortified glass but not Corning.

WARNING!
If you have unlimited data now, you will LOSE it if you EVER drop it! That's my understanding. They will restore you, alright: to tiered data.
It has already been announced. Relax everybody, nobody is going to change the name.
Corning confirmed it does NOT have any Corning glass. Samsung itself has confirmed it's just no-name "fortified glass".
Dang why do people keep bringing up old stuff recently? Kind of annoying :/
I'll try not to be as annoying the next time I think about defending your reputation against Dubbin.![]()
As requested by hundreds of you, I drafted up an E-Mail voicing your concerns and frustrations, E-Mailed it directly to my contacts at Verizon Wireless, and called them directly. They escalated the issue and got back to me with an answer, but one that you're probably not going to love.
I can provide the official statement tonight or tomorrow, but essentially it boils down to what we already know:
- The Galaxy Nexus is currently undergoing rigorous testing and announcing a tentative release date that may change would be a disservice to their customers
- The Galaxy Nexus WILL be released BEFORE the end of the year
I talked to them on the phone for about 30 minutes. I expressed the specific concerns. I even relayed some of the tough stuff that I don't personally agree with... the bottom line is they won't offer a launch date until they're ready. They aren't ready. When they are, they will let us know, and they'll be ready before the year is over.
My questions to you:
- If you know the G-Nex will be out by year's end, why is the specific date between now and then crucially important?
- If Verizon announced a release date, testing hit a hiccup and the launch was delayed, would you be more angry than if they simply told you "by the end of the year"?
- Does this suffice or would you ask that I do more on behalf of our community?
I can post my complete letter here along with Verizon's Official Response once I have it. I've debated publishing this on Phandroid, along with an objective narrative that discusses the opinion of both sides, to provide a more public/visible way to have your voices heard. But in many ways that could be stirring the pot when we've already got our answer.
That being said, I haven't ruled it out as I know many people here want a venue to express their personal feelings/concerns/frustrations to Verizon. I suppose it depends on the content and tone of the response I get to this update.
NOTE: I've locked this thread temporarily to ensure it's visibility as I seek the opinions/replies of everyone involved!
Well I'm terribly sorry to annoy you, Scott.
I'm fully aware of the Samsung tweet. It did, however, come up again today or yesterday, so I was just wondering.

Guys, is it me, or is this all getting a bit anti-climactic?
I have a feeling I'm going to open the Nexus box, turn it on, play with it for a good half hour, and then think:
This is what I've basically given up 3 months of my life for?
I'm sure most of us know this.. but how awesome would it be if the name actually was Nexus Prime. Even Nexus Galaxy sounds better than Galaxy Nexus.
That stinks. I guess I always assumed it was the
Whats that supposed to mean? All I asked for was a link to the conformation since I never saw it...
Sorry if I was coming across as obnoxious, I was just saying it's a bit confusing in the midst of all the other rumors when people pop in and bring up old articles.

I think it's considered to be a part of the "Galaxy" family, so it's lumped in with the rest, even though it's also a "Nexus".
Totally agreed. I loved the name Nexus Prime, was really disappointed when it was officially changed to Galaxy Nexus.I'm sure most of us know this.. but how awesome would it be if the name actually was Nexus Prime. Even Nexus Galaxy sounds better than Galaxy Nexus.
True. For some reason whenever I hear "Galaxy Nexus" I think of Barbarella.
Don't know why.

Sorry guys. I think I'm still just a little pissed from earlier. I'm taking a break.
So its word of mouth by people on the internet that it has been confirmed but nothing posted by Samsung?
Oh boy.
Just got off the phone with my sister.
Supposedly they found some bugs but were able to patch them with OTA updates.
I'll stay up until whenever they take down "4 Day Websale"... could be midnight CST, could be 1 AM CST (although the last websale ended at around 12:45 CST IIRC)
This whole thing is beginning to remind of pregnancy. Lots of advice and information...some good, some bad, support groups, lots of preparation, everyone knows what's best, no one agrees, and tons of waiting. You can only guess what's going on...and, the darn thing will present itself when it's damn well good and ready.
Can I have this? LMAO!!!![]()
First time poster and been lurking for a while. I just wanted to say that this was my first thought too. I also thought that perhaps I was being a little too nit picky, but honestly you are right one of those statements is a lie on Vzw's part.
Anyways sorry my first post comes across as negative. I am psyched for this phone to release and also happy to see that the 16/32g question seems to be answered. I had gone to a Vzw corporate store to check out the Rezound just in case. Ok back to my corner I go.
Now for a VERY important question, why doesn't the android app keep the zoom level I choose? I keep setting it and it keeps defaulting back to huge![]()
Back to lurking!
