Funny, but there are absolutely no idications of either Samsung or Google being upset with Verizon.

An executive commenting it should be out in Nov doesn't count.

As Steven just mentioned, money sooths all hard feelings pretty quick. If this is a huge success, you can bet you'll see Nexus models on Verizon again.

Didn't we see several studies that show Verizon sells by far the most Android handsets?

They will continue to get Nexus phones, because they will sell the most, it seems pretty logical.

Google gains nothing by launching a premium phone on a carrier like T-Mobile exclusively. They don't have enough install base to really generate a ton of sales.

Personally I'm with everyone else, just launch it on the same date with every carrier at the same time. (In business sense though, I doubt this will happen)

and I thought I would have this phone in my hands by now.....you guys are going nuts posting today I can't keep up I am way to busy at work BUT.....continue on and i will do my best to keep up lol. And why are people excited we are passing the Dinc thread if we didn't have to pass that thread we would probably have the phone by now.....I personally would rather have the phone then have the biggest thread ever filled with complaining and torture and leaks this way and that way and dates changing like the wind lol

I wish this would happen.

The tethering assumption is incorrect. We've been talking about tethering and the rooted tethering apps in here for years and I haven't seen a tether thread censored. There are tons of threads on tethering and the rooted apps that allow it.

Tethering and the apps that allow it are an open discussion in all Android forums that I've frequented.

That has changed.

Upon reflection, our site owner, Rob, determined that discussing methods to achieve free tethering on any device where it's strictly against your agreement with your carrier is essentially promoting fraud against your carrier and that we are to have no part in that.

We have been shutting down those discussions on an almost daily basis since that decision was made.

Rob is the sole point of appeal for this, but I'll caution in advance, his mind seems to be firmly made up on this one.

PS - Sorry to shout in red, but it seemed very important to get the new word out.

Long time lurker first time posting. For what its worth, I just left Verizon after asking a sales associate a plethora of questions reguarding a purchace and possible return of the 4s for the Gnex when it is launched. After answering all my questions, the rep walked away, then returned a few moments later to tell me to save myself the hassle they have a ton of Gnex accessories in the back. I know that accessories being in stock is old news, but the tone in which he said save myself the hassle, was enough to convience me he knew something and to not to bother with the iphone.

I warmly welcome you and all former lurkers! So many! I love this place! :)

Edit: OP Updated to reflect the 720p ffc. I TOLD YOU GUYS TO REMIND ME. EPIC FAIL!! :p

Yeah, the kicker is ICS. It is ready for prime-time, no longer needs a skin to be suitable for the masses.

I'm curious, if Verizon actually decides to launch it on Black Friday, how many of you will buy it on Friday? If it did, I would probably wait until Saturday, but if I happen to be near a store on Friday and it wasn't too busy, I would get it then.

but its fun lol. Pre-release threads are the pre-concert activities that usually lead to good times lol. Friendships are made, people are hated, and its just a great time...

That said I wish i had mine in hand too.. but atleast ill have all my money saved up (were expecting our first child, so i had to sell my tbolt and work ot to save enough) to get one after thanks giving :)

Yep, Verizon is still the largest carrier in the US. And they do sell more Android phones, so that's where the money is.

In the future, since all carriers will eventually go LTE, it is a possibility that we'll see some handsets that will become universal. Right now, that's dificult with either GSM or CDMA fallback, but in the future it could happen.

BMX just retweeted a tweet from Negrielectronics about out a Nexus giveaway. One of their earlier tweets said they had tracking information on their first GN shipment. I'm in the car... Anyone want to check it out?

Guys/Gals,
Sidebar question and I'm sorry to ask, but you all feel like strange family members (haha) so I trust your responses better...
The wife and I are going to buy a tablet for the family for XMAS and we were thinking the ASUS, but I want the latest and greatest to future-proof it. Is the Transformer Prime the newest?...the one that is like $500? That can't be right, right? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe that is the one. Model number TF201 is what you are looking for.

Looks pretty nice.

Just my two cents on the ASUS Transformer. I bought one shortly after they came out. It almost burnt my house down when the charger started melting. I returned it promptly after ASUS support told me that even though I had plugged it into a power conditioning strip that it was still my problem and I had to buy another power cable.

However, your results may vary :)

The other thing I forgot to mention is, basically Google/Producer of phone would have to mandate the street date for the phone and even with Android's success I still don't think they are in the position to demand and accomplish that with every carrier.

Take the Galaxy S2 for example, you basically get the smaller market carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile try to push it ASAP before the bigger carriers so they can get a head start and hopefully pick up a few people who "can't wait" for it to show up on Verizon or AT&T. (Although specifically on the T-Mobile release, I think they were actually the last on the Galaxy S2? Which is odd because normally they are the first to adopt.)

CK,

Thanks for the information. It makes sense from the perspective that it's how cell phone companies make decisions - or at least how this one does. I find it to be an unusual business model for a variety of reasons, however, none of which the readers of this forum give a rat's you know what about. Thanks for the feedback...

Edit: Which points to there being a pre-determined date in the mind of the execs at Verizon for Nexus release, regardless of sales. From the point above, I assume the "example" above of Nov 1 - December 7 is slightly more...:) I'm hoping 12/8 is the date.
LOL.....no don't read into those made up dates otherwise you are looking at a December 15th release. Hmmmm could it be? Ya never know.........I kid I kid.................or am I?...........no I am...........I think :)

No I'm just joking ;) pretty much

My problem is, I was roped into manning the home front while my wife goes shopping that night, and sleeps that day, so if I went to a store on BF, it would be with three young kids in tow... Those poor poor RAZRs ;)
