***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

FWIW - Just got back from a corp Verizon store (where I was placed on the Nexus waiting list last week). I was chatting with the rep about the double data promotion. Currently being an AT&T customer, I was concerned that the DD promotion would end before the Nexus came out. Nobody in the store (including the manager) could figure out when it ended, however, I'm supposed to call him back later today to see if he gets the answer.

While I was discussing the DD promo, the store manager actually told me that he heard a Dec. 1st date for the Nexus (surprisingly, I didn't even ask for the date, he brought it up). I asked him where he got his info, and he said he got the date from one of his Verizon sources yesterday. Interesting how that jives with the Dec 1st dates that just popped up within the last hour or so. Just thought I would share.

I hope, yet I doubt

On the advertising topic:

I don't see this thing getting advertised by VZ too much. Look at the HTC Device. That's a better phone than the RAZR in many respects, but I think I've seen 2 or 3 commercials on it. I drove by a Verizon store this morning and didn't even see a sign for it in the window.

The more I've thought about this the more I think Verizon is going to advertise the crap out of this thing when it comes out. The way it is setting up the Razr/Rezound will have had all kinds of time and deals for anybody who wanted them to buy them. I think the Nexus is going to get a really big push in December because Verizon is going to have the best Android device out there and nobody else has it. They love the Droid line but Verizon wants new customers and there is no better way to get new customers than to show off the best available phone, and they are the only ones who have it.

Can someone tell me why they think it's December 1? I don't see a date anywhere on those materials.
The linked AC article says that the photo is "a Best Buy Mobile flyer that is due to come out Dec. 1," so apparently they are inferring a release date from the fact that it is the December flyer. That makes little sense. To me, its appearance in the flyer suggests that Best Buy expected it to be out already, since I do not think a carrier would be happy for retailers to be breaking news on new phones in flyers that way.

So the date looks to be December 1st. Going to have to break out my lawn chair and a blanket when I get to my local corporate store at the butt-crack of dawn.

Agree'd and starting on Thursday the ad push will start. Trust me I am a Doctor!

Sucks if the DD promo ends the day before...

When I was using sweeterhome2 beta, I only had one. I really wish they'd clean that launcher up for prime time. Its incredibly powerful in its customization.

I spent quite a few hours working with sweeterhome, and it was awesome. I had hidden spring boards, almost-transparent icons, etc. and it was really fun to work with, although the learning curve was steep.

I went away from it for a few months, came back, and I'd forgotten how to use it. At that point I just deleted it.

Just seems like really sloppy reporting to me.

i'll be right there with ya.....maybe not physically because i have no idea where abouts you are, or what store you'd be going to, but i'd be there in spirit lol

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Personally, I could care less how much advertising this thing gets. I just want it to be here.

Well, here is what I think. All you gamers out there know the saying that you can't spell ignorant without IGN....
I think that would go double or triple for non-gaming subjects. I guarantee they know AT BEST, as much as we do, don't take stock in anything news oriented from that site.

I only ever used IGN for cheat codes to MW2. (Yeah, I play dirty.)

It won't start until after black friday....BF is going to be the big push to sell as many of the other phones as they can.

Agreed.

I'm sure some mod will make the search bar their first priority. Its just a matter of time. As for your homescreen. I'm with ya- minimal is better.

Here was the last time I did a screen grab:

Since then, I've removed the battery status indicator, combined several folders and reduced the number of homescreens to 2 instead of 3. When I was using sweeterhome2 beta, I only had one. I really wish they'd clean that launcher up for prime time. Its incredibly powerful in its customization.

This was mine before i sold my Bolt... this was using adwex. I miss Ram.. poor D1 has a hard time with vanilla 2.3.7

Hahaha, yeah that makes complete sense. I don't even think they've released an update to the apk in about 3-4 months. They may be letting the thing die a slow lonely death.

I never had a problem navigating or utilizing it though. I quit using it for an extended period once I rooted and started using ADWex. Then went back and was using both for a while to compare them and ultimately decide on one launcher. I'm quite familiar with most design software so the learning curve didn't really amount to much for me though.

I would love to see advertising to put the GNex into the mainstream. Just not till after we all get ours.

The Negri Electronics guys who are giving away a free nexus after 3500 followers/re-tweets tweeted this in response to someone asking about the LTE version:

@Earthsiege It's not a dumb question. #Verizon #GalaxyNexus or #Prime should be in stock around 12/9.
Emphasis mine. I don't know if they are speaking to their anticipated date of receiving them or just basing that date off of the rumored 12/8 release date. Probably another case of rumor supporting another rumor, so take it FWIW.
