It will be interesting to see data speeds on Verizon's LTE network once it becomes populated with LTE devices. Will be a few years, but I wonder if they'll stay above 10/5

Not a chance. Im here in the tampa area (probably one of the larger LTE areas), and I had a Thunderbolt and I could not get over 5/3. Honestly LTE is a bit overrated down here, so I expect when LTE becomes more mainstream 10/5 will be a lost memory.

If tmobile had better signal in my area i would switch in a heartbeat

Off topic:

Vortex rc1 rom on my DX has done wonders to my DROID x, amazing battery life and snappiness.

OT: I can now read and refresh SGN prerelease thread all day and night without recharging, as opposed to only a couple hours at a time. OK, somewhat on topic. :)

Is that your experience everywhere in your area? Any friends/family as well with the same results? If so that's wild I had consistent speeds along with some friends and they remain to this day in the 28-40 down and 10-15 up. This is in Atlanta

Just chiming in here...I really don't think that the Best Buy ad is true. I don't think the phone has been renamed or retooled in anyway. I don't think there is going to be any "Prime"s or "Droid"s in the product name. It is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the 3rd Nexus device by Google, and despite the two Verizon preinstalled apps, and despite the politics/"market strategy" Verizon is seemingly playing with it, it is still going to be every bit a Nexus device in terms of openness, vanilla Android, and updates direct from Google. Think of how much of an outrage it would be if it was anything different...people are getting pissy over two carrier apps, one of them just being an account manager. The internets would melt and/or explode if it was anything more.

But I will say this. IF that were ever allowed to happen (it won't...it's not the Droid Prime or the Droid Nexus or anything else other than Galaxy Nexus), IF that were allowed to happen and it was all Droided out with bloatware, and we weren't sure where updates were coming from and if the bootloader is locked, at that point I would definitely look at importing and jumping over to ATT instead (have T-Mobile now, hate them, not staying with them).

BUT, that's not going to happen. Google may have given Verizon a little bit more leeway with the two Verizon apps and being the exclusive US launch partner, but they would never allow any carrier to degrade and diminish the Nexus line in any way. Just my thoughts. Everyone who is getting worried thinking that it will be the Droid Prime with a locked down bootloader and bloatware and updates from Samsung/Verizon are worrying too much.

This is my personal opinion, I have no sources, no inside info, I'm just basing this off what I am reading.

If vzw wants to maximize their BF deals and the sales for the week that follows I say we should hear something between 12/1 and 12/8. If they want to maximize the sales of their existing lineup for the holiday season be prepared for it to drop between 12/26 and 12/31.

I can't imagine a scenario where it launches that late unless it has serious bugs/hardware issues.

Verizon wants new customers, and with as many people that buy phones around the holidays I imagine there is a lot of people that have upgrades coming up in December or have them right now. The best way for Verizon to get those customers is to get their best phone (Nexus) out there in December before people are done Christmas shopping. The week after Christmas would be a disaster of a release date for them.

I only watch real football, SEC :p I then look at scores around the country and keep up with polls to see who the SEC will destroy in the BCS National Championship game :D

I keeed I keeeed.
sort of :p

Except this year will be an exception

Because both teams will be SEC :D

Yeah pretty much all over the area thats what Ill get. At different times, i may hit 8 down, but thats only after midnight.

My brother has the same result, he has a thunderbolt as well, it could be a thunderbolt issue, but others in different areas are fine. I dont know if the Nexus will be any different

I see. VZ doesn't guarantee the high speeds we've seen here in the ATL and I doubt it's your TB. Maybe the GN will be better though for ya.

Or maybe Tampa area just has a lot more LTE subscribers hmm...wonder

You know what I REALLY like? The fact that my Chrome bookmarks automatically sync to the default browser, so they are all just there. I am new to Android but I don't think that happened in previous versions?

Nexus Junkie Family,

I'm very busy at work and haven't been up to date on this thread. Please accept my apologies as life is a bit busy at work. If I skip a few pages and leave out some thanks, please understand. These next two week, I have to squeeze 5 days of lessons in to 4 days. I'm swamped.

Please PM me with any pertinent updates. I'm trying to keep up, though.

Steven

Sometimes pesky work gets in the way of the important Nexus stuff. Been there myself this week. It sucks.

My thought process was that they would do more harm than good if they make an announcement and release after the 8th, if they wait that long I was thinking that they would use it to catch those returning phones after christmas and those who got money for christmas who were holding out until after the holiday. Personally I hope it drops on or before the 8th.
