Side wager on Hanie's viability at QB? Orton played near Pro Bowl caliber QB last year and lost out to Tebowmania in Denver. He obviously knows your offense...Guarantee he's a better fit, if you end up with him...

Orton has never played in the Martz offence or any variations of it. Martz offence is based of Don Coryell's, Air Coryell offence. For that matter he has never played in a vertical offence which is entirely based upon timing.

I don't understand the purpose of a tablet like the Transformer Prime. Is it just the screen size? Why not use a laptop?

The GNex will have essentially equal or better specs than most tablets.

Why do people want iPads and other tablets? Now take all of those reasons and then add an optional keyboard dock that extends the battery life of the tablet as it's being used, along with killer specs and great support, and you have why people want the Transformer Prime. :)

i know P3Droid isn't everyone's favorite around here but he and @tfleming223 are hinting the nexus may not be here until around Christmas. If that's the case i don't think i'll be getting the phone at launch. I'll wait for CES to see what's on the horizon.

You have to do what's right for you, but the way I see it is if you wait to see what comes out at CES, that means at earliest you will see that phone towards the end of April and possibly into the summer. Taking into account what we are going through with Verizon now, do you have any faith in them releasing a phone within a reasonable time frame next year? I don't. That's why I will purchase the Gnex when it releases in December and be happy with my decision.

For "media" consumption and light typing. I can see a tablet being much easier to use in some settings. Laying on the couch or in a bed. My laptop is a pain in those settings. I don't have a tablet but I think it'd be a lot easier to deal with/use.

What's all this about an Xmas time release? Wasn't December 8 already set in stone since the SGN was even conceived?

In all seriousness, that would royally suck. I just don't see a viable alternative. I could jump to AT&T and get the Skyrocket, but that's not HD. The HTC device is, but I'd prefer a buttonless design and the biggest screen possible. The RAZR is a non-starter in my opinion.

So, I'm stuck either way. :(

.

I know I will get flamed but if I owned VZW I would allow you to upgrade every six months at a subsidized price. If you did upgrade it would subsequently reset your contract therefore locking you in longer. WIN WIN :)

Except verizon would go under if they used that strategy. Say a phone is $600 off contract, and you get it subsidized from verizon for 200-300, they can't make that up in 6 months unless they jack the phone plan price way way up and that's not what anybody wants. Maybe it would be feasible to scale the price based on how much time you have left on your contract, but that will never happen.

Actually, now that I think about it, if the SGN doesn't come out until the very end of the year, I may just spend my money on the Transformer Prime and wait til late Spring to get something presented at CES.

Hoping that Verizon gets its act together is exhausting.

You never watched him at purdue.

i'm thinking along those lines as well. i already have a xoom so i wouldn't pick up a tablet but i would definitely use my money elsewhere and just wait for CES.

Verizon's execs seem to want to delay this phone to sell some of the R phones, but they HAVE to be seeing a drop in smartphone sign-ups right now as people wait for the GNex, as it has gone viral. And they can hold off for a little while to help those other phones sell, but there will come a point where it is too late to catch up what they lost by holding it, and it will affect their 4Q numbers, and even stubborn VZW execs will cry uncle before that happens. So unless it truly is a massive supply shortage, or a huge technical issue causing its delay, I think it doesn't go any later than Dec 8th.

Yep. But what I don't understand is why Verizon did away with the option of one-year contracts. Now there are only two choices: two-year contract with subsidy, or no contract and full retail.

I can see myself upgrading my phone once a year, but I don't think I'd ever do it more often than that. So a one-year contract would be perfect for me. Actually, since I'm about to jump aboard the Nexus train, I could see myself upgrading to each new Nexus.

It reminds me of the way hot dogs and hot dog buns are sold. Hot dogs typically come in packs of ten, while buns come in packs of eight. So you always run out of one before the other. Same thing here: for anyone who wants to stay reasonably current, the shelf life of a smartphone is maybe a year, but the contracts lock you in to two years. Which means that we'll spend half our lives hating our phones and wishing we could upgrade!

I can tell you that last night, I was actually jealous of my GF with her DInc2. She said, "I charged mine yesterday." as I was chraging this Rent-a-RAZR for the second time in 12 hours.

Yeah holding it all the way until the end up the year just makes no sense, business or otherwise

Hmm, that's not actually a bad idea. I've been putting off the whole "get a tablet" thing...

My plan was always to use the GN as both because of its larger screen. But if I get the transformer now, I can talk myself into justifying a phone for my Birthday in June :)

Unfortunately he doesn't know it anymore. He left before Martz implemented his flying circus.

I think Hanie might work out. But I wouldn't mind having Orton as a backup, just in case.

You're right. I'd forgotten they brought Martz in after Orton was gone. Good catch.

But all in all, I still think you're playing for the Bronze. My wife is from Wisconsin...

Verizon, why must you constantly disappoint us! Just release a date already! ****(Insert your favorite four letter word here)!!!!!

To all those who are going to try to flame me for bitching about Verizon again don't bother I don't care. Just expressing my frustration.

The Dinc2 wasn't very impressive in battery life to me until I rom'd it with MIUI. Now it's pretty decent.

If I decide to go the Prime route, I may just ask Verizon if I can keep the Dinc2 until I decide to upgrade, whenever that might be. It's a really nice phone. :)

I agree with this. Although if you're happy with your current phone and can wait up to potentially another year with it, then by all means wait it out. There's always going to be something better around the corner.

I'm still going for the Nexus. I really don't think I'm going to need a more powerful phone than that (not that I wouldn't be tempted).

Back from lunch and seems to have slowed down a bit today.

Saw the tweets relating to a Christmas release and I sure hope they are wrong. I would be really happy to see a 12/8 release. Just wish Verizon would give us some info. The holding back information is what's annoying me the most.

I'd be happy if you could upgrade at a "reduced" discount after one year even if they didn't bring back 1 year contracts. They used to do this also.

Frustration and disappointment are okay....vent if you will. I believe we are all in the same boat : )

Damn, nothing new....My Verizon store has scratch protectors for the G-Nex.Its a start. On another note I saw that a post of mine was deleted....What did I say wrong? (Thats a retorical question,I really dont want an answer.)

I guess no Galaxy Nexus on Black Friday... my leftover turkey sandwich just won't taste the same without Ice Cream Sandwich on the side... super sad face :(

A time will eventually come when many of the participants here realize that it's not happening in November. It MAY happen in early December, but plan on mid December and you won't be so let down by the experience. Enjoy your family and friends and be thankful for all the important things in your lives right now. I want this device as badly as everyone else here, but I can't in good conscience continue with the obsession and put the things that truly matter on hold any longer.
