Lot's of people seem to thank anything a mod posts for some reason. I never wanted to comment on it before, but since some of you brought it up....
It looks like they're taking the "LTE version" from the render on the tech-specs page and comparing it to a real side-on picture of the GSM phone. I'm pretty sure that the tech spec page is just a 3D render, not an actual picture - some of the edges look especially vectorized. That would explain the color difference maybe?
Also, I don't see a difference between the UK and US versions of the phone flipping back and forth between both Google sites' tech specs pages.

Especially since most "on-topic" posts that are attached to "off-topic" posts are along the lines of "i want a nexus, derr"
Well it's a pretty low quality mockup and it also doesn't have the right battery cover on so it may not be right

I've been following the dev status on CM9 I would heavily lean towards an alpha build if that. The guys over in the Inc forum are making good progress (bless them! go R2!) but are still working with the touchscreen driver as they differ among the 2 models SLCD and AMOLED. Exciting none-the-less!

I can't find it, but I did find the picture he used.

I'm not bothered by the apparent thickness. I'm bothered by the different color scheme. Looks like crap, IMO.
I agree, I like the GSM version much more from the pictures, but I will wait until I see the LTE version in person before I bail and get a Rhyme.

Keep hope, the LTE version in this picture definitely looks like its a bit angled, making it look much thicker, i don't think it will be as thick as it looks in the picture, compare the right side of the picture(back side of the phone) in each picture, the UK version is a perfect picture from the side while the US/LTE version is definitely angled, you can see the whole back in the angle.

They aren't at the same angle. The LTE version is at an angle so it looks like it is a lot wider than it is, while the UK version's pic is directly on its side. Deceiving picture...
Ya but if you go on the uk site it shows the same picture people are getting so worked up on this geez

Trouble Just Finds Me!
That's true that the SGS2 released first with Gingerbread in May of this year.
The release date corresponds to the HTC Flyer tablet also launching with Gingerbread.
The HTC phones launched in June (little over a month later) had GB as well.
Getting to the next rev of Android is a matter of corporate will and a willingness to work with Google.
I posted some days ago that ASUS was working closely with Google so that the Transformer Prime would have ICS at launch - both sides wanting to differentiate the platform from non-Android contenders.
To hear the tech blogs describe it, ICS hit the AOSP on the 14th and ASUS announced they were ready on the 16th - taking just two days to get the work done. (Yep, I've actually seen that lie in print, and ASUS marketing stood up and said, yes, you bet!)
It will be months before others launch phones with ICS because it will be months before others launch phones.
But updates are a matter of corporate will and support targets, nothing more.
