Does this help anybody worrying about RAM?

I'll never tell. But I'd probably institute a weekly pit match to the death!

"This Friday at 9pm, it's Antimony, the digested Pellet of Death, against Steven, the Green Goblin of Good Manners!

Someone. Will. Die!"

Gee thanks, put me up against Yoda. That's fair. I would be all complacent as he came limping up to me, and then all of a sudden a green blur ends my life.

I don't think that's what's being said by the many of us taking that position.

All we're saying is that VZW only promised this year. Like you, I find it frustrating that we have no info on why the UK really got theirs already - and in the absence of info, I'm also with you that something seems fishy somewhere.

But bottom line is VZW hasn't broken a promise until Dec 31 passes without a Nexus. (And much as I hate it, it makes sense for a publicly traded company to keep its mouth shut about things, regardless of cause.)

This is exactly the same frustration that the Thunderbolt owners went thru at prelaunch - exactly the same. ;)

VZW may be stalling the device, they may not - either way, we're stuck watching and waiting.
A point I forgot to make in my original rambling. If Verizon/Google/Samsugn doesn't publicly say anything, then they can't have thier words used against them. What ever they publicly release, can be.

If someone were to come out and say there are problems. It's public information and thier competitors are free to use that information in ad campains agaist them. If they don't say anything (plead the 5th, so to speak), then a competitor can't attack them based on rumors.

Smart business decision. Very smart.

What's the old addage?

Better to keep you mouth shut and have people think you a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Leaving for a Thanksgiving cruise tomorrow. No internet access until Monday.

I'm sure upon my return we will get an official release date and all will be well in the world.

Congrats in advance for breaking the AF record for posts in a thread. You guys certainly deserve it!

Stay strong Nexusites!

Enjoy your cruise!
Happy Turkey Day!

Quoted for emphasis of truth.

If I was the Mod in care of this thread, we'd have about 75,000 posts by now, along with about 30 bannings and 1 public execution with an embedded youtube video.

And I'm sure Phases and Rob would set up a twice daily auto lock to ensure time outs are taken whether needed or not.

Oooooo, who?! You gotta tell us who. BB for witchcraft by burning at the stake? (in case you haven't noticed she's put a spell on us ;)) or perhaps one of the mods in a brutal coup?

Awww. Thank you.
but the execution would be CK. Lol.

Actually, I did call for her burning at the stake.

Because she hasn't watched neither Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, YET.

What kind of heresy is that?

Still love ya BB :D

And I postulate: How have they screwed it up?

I know the popular opinion is that they are incompetent, inept and only concerned with greed. But the situation is more complex than most people can comprehend. I've been in similar situations, from the inside, and can understand public opinion on the perception that a company has no idea what they are doing.

Back to "screwed up launch". By most rumors, there have been issues with the software. We here would also be the first to crucify Verizon for releasing a product that is incomplete. We'd then all be screaming that they rushed an unfinished product out the door for greed. So it's far more prudent for them to hold back the date.

As for being more forthcoming with information, this is something that I would like.......but absolutely understand why they won't. Suppose they announced a date, then had to backpedal and told us it was because of problems. We'd here be happy. Horray!

But the public relations nightmare would only be starting. Imagine articles on MSNBC and CNN stating that it's held back because of issues. The casual buyer sees that and gets turned off. Now imagine an Apple campain talking with Justin Long crucifing a robot over his inability to get released. Imagine the backlash from other competitors such as blackberry or WinMo lambasting Google for it's inability to release a flagship phone. An ice cream sandwich getting squashed or some such nonsense.

No, as much as we don't like not knowing, Verizon is doing the absolute correct thing here. Keep in mind, that Google and Samsung are also invovled. There is no animosity, not hatred. All companies are working together to get this phone released. All the conspiracy theories are absolute bunk.

Well, I guess I will be the lone contrarian here...

I agree that the conspiracy theories are off the mark. But, I still think VZW has botched the release. ICS and the GNex were announced weeks ago, and the GNex has already released in other continents. With all the devices out there, and after all the reviews we have seen, if there truly was a software issue (beyond the minor 2g volume issue) we would have heard something. But, we haven't. That tells me that something else is going on, and it has nothing to do with the phone.

As for your arguments about media relations problems, or releasing a phone with bugs, I have one word: Bionic. Moto promised it in Q2, but announced a delay. The reason they gave was transparently bogus, but there was zero media backlash from MSNBC, et al. Also, from what I've read, it is rather buggy and unfinished. Again, you don't see any mainstream backlash (just blog backlash) - Vzw just keeps pumping those "rule all machines" and "free NFL" commercials. Hasn't hurt them a bit.

Again, I think something else is going on - I just don't know what. Regardless, I still think VZW has handled this device very poorly.

Love that saying. Thanks for working that in. I guess you are right, if they don't have a good explanation, its better to say nothing... Just frustrating as hell for all of us!

Not so.. there were many, many off topic posts and fighting posts. Whereas this thread does have an eye on the record, we're much, much kinder, gentler and better moderated. Far better moderated. I know. I was the top poster in that thread. Naturally? Hardly. That thread was full of negative stuff.

Here? The atmosphere and genuineness in this thread sets it's own record and it's very natural.

Well, I respectfully disagree w/ your definition of "naturally" it has nothing to do w/ the moderators, the tone of the posts, negativity or "kindness". In fact an over-moderated thread is way less "natural" than one that gets a little interesting, so I wouldn't say "hardly".......... There is nothing natural about people walking around on eggshells.

And BTW, I was there too.

Nobody there said we need to make this an epic thread, let's try starting arguments or be mean to reach a goal. Here they are, as you say, trying to kill the other thread w/ kindness.
This isn't about moderators, if anything this thread is "over-moderated" If someone posts something slightly negative there are about 27 posts telling them how "OHHH you're going to get in trouble." The Dinc thread also never begged lurkers to come out and post and then followed up every lurker post w/ 35 "thank you" posts. Sure it was off topic at times - as it is here. But there was never a goal to beat some other thread out there. That's where the "unnatural" part comes in(25 posts saying "is it me" @ every 1,000 mark? Naturally). A lot of fluff and 100's of repeat posts about every video, DL post or question asked.

Sorry, but this thread hasn't evolved naturally, it's been steered. I mean no disrespect - It's obviously you baby, you can raise it how you like.........

Apples and oranges. That's all.

Wait...what!! I remember the razzing she was getting about Star Wars, but Lord of the Rings too. BBs - I can't believe this....say it isn't so.
Lord of the Rings is THE epic trilogy of all time. These movies should be on everyone's bucket list. Get a move on missy :D

Spoken like a true prosecutor, I mean rebel, I mean Pilot, I mean Captain, Uh, who are you again? My reality is blurred :/

We're going to let this die.

Opinions are always welcome here.

I had hoped the release would have gone more smoothly, too. Not going to lie and say I'm not disappointed, just that I can see all sorts of factors, some mentioned, and other not mentioned, that can affect the situation.

But I will leave you with one bit of info.
The GSM models were manufactured first. LTE models hadn't been finalized at the Hong Kong announcement, since they didn't give a finished thickness for the LTE model. That tells me, LTE models were going to come after GSM models, unless the GSM models are going to be held up as well (no point in that).

So by that logic, I wasn't expecting to see LTE models released the same time as GSM models. I knew they'd be delayed, just not sure by how much.

I'm getting there. The list of classics and cult classics I HAVEN'T seen would make you guys cry. But remember I'm new to the geek loving crowd so that accounts for a lot of it having passed me by.

Abraham Lincoln I believe. One of my favorite quotes.

So the incredible thread was open for 81 days and it racked up 47,904 posts during that time.

This thread has been open for 92 days and it's still well over a thousands posts to go until it matches the original DInc thread.

It's safe to say that nothing will beat the DInc thread......not even this one. This thread had to hit 47,905 on Nov. 12th in order to beat it on an evenly timed level. It's the pushed release date that kinda killed the race here.

Nice try, though!
