hans, going to do my best to sway you. here's the story of my most recent phone with htc

gingerbread was released in dec 2010 i think. thunderbolt launched in march or april with froyo, and that it would be updating to GB "soon". a month later, "soon" became "end of e2". the last day of june came along and nothing. no announcements. then there was rumors of end of summer. that came and nothing

they finally released the update in early october. here's the real kicker - the update they released was the same exact version developers already had their hands on for months. this version made it so voicemail notifications didn't work

yes, vzw pushed an update to our phones that made it so we never new when we got voicemails. they suspended that update, and released a working version late oct/early nov, 4 weeks later

i gave up waiting was running on gb through developers since summer. i still wanted the legit update for better performance. and it sucked. but in your case, not rooting your phone.. you would have been waiting all this time with no information. sound familar? at least with this gnex stuff, its only been a few weeks. imagine waiting for an update for 7-8 months

ontop of that, without rooting, your phone will eventually start running laggy on the rezound.. dual core or not. that's just how sense is

That, and the Droid Incredible JUST got Gingerbread not even a week ago.

Done with HTC.

I hear you. But it's the ATP, Red. It's the ATP, calling to me in the darkness. And my ski trip that is slowly but surely creeping up the spending column. And my wife. Yelling at me in the darkness, along with 5 other people.

It's too much, I tell you!

I am kinda in the same boat. However if the total cost is the problem get a Best Buy CC for the ATP and you get 18 months interest free (around $30/month). This may be what I do. Although I am generally loath to get any additional CC I will likely pay it off much sooner and close it out.

As for the wife and friends.... Make up a feature that the Rezound does not have. "Ahh, no good. This phone does not have active superautosync with NFC functionality. I guess I am stuck with the SGN. Too bad too that price would have been great."

This would work for me as my wife and friends are not too tech savy. They have been calling me an idiot for years for not getting an iPhone.

For anyone thinking of getting the Rezound I have one -

  • It's not as silky smooth as some would have you believe - especially when opening, or switching, web pages - it's a little clunky
  • Battery life is meh.. not horrible, but could be better - With identical usage patterns I go 2 days on my fruit phone, this one almost makes it a day
  • I don't wanna say it's buggy, but there's some shit that just doesn't want to cooperate - for example the volume never seems to hold a setting, apps just stop responding to their short cuts, background images for your home screens act wonky - takes some doodling to get them right
  • I don't care for the rockers

On the plus side -

  • It feels solid in the hand
  • It's not as thick as you might think
  • Screen looks great

And thank you for the fix ;)

You did mean it's original urban meaning "fix" right? :D

EDIT: wait where'd your post go lol

I'd also like to throw out a possible scenario...

It's been hypothesized that VZW is protecting "R" sales by delaying the nex.

What if they did have an agreement with Google to release at $199 price point. That would back up the "protection" stance because the average consumer would jump on the $100 savings when faced with the 3 phones.

So, 2 weeks ago, Verizon started re-reading the contract and told Google/Sammy that they would release at $199, but, it would be 16GB version (to de-value it compared to the "R's". A week of "negotiating" went by and they lost that battle, so, they are back to a small delay again, making sure to have black Friday/cyber Monday completely free and clear for the R's to sell as many as possible.

It would explain the delay's and revolving door of memory specs that we have seen.

That, and the Droid Incredible JUST got Gingerbread not even a week ago.

Done with HTC.

Even worse, it was done in two steps.

1st-my wife's Incredible recieved the buggy GB update,
2nd-a day later, it recieved the patch

After it being delayed so long you would think they could have just released GB in 1 update.

I might call vzw and ask when the stratosphere is going on sale for 99 bucks because there's an ad online that is advertising that. Maybe if they tell me the date, it will be the same time as the GNEX release? since its the same ad, maaaybe.
