My first post! Have been on here since early in the thread, just creepin' on when the phone would get released.

Finally decided to jump in, bought a cheap stratosphere off contract to hold me over until the GNex pops up.

Welcome. Sorry you took a wrong turn somewhere and got delayed in your arrival. :p :D

Speaking of phone games, does anyone know any solid RPGs that I could try out once I get the Nexus? I tried playing Zenonia on my OG Droid and it didn't go well at all. I've also heard about a cool upcoming RPG called Skyfall, but besides those, I really don't know much. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

I'd like to jump in on one too. But I need SIMPLE as well. It would be my maiden voyage into that area of the world as well.

I'm dying to play Star Wars: The Old Republic. I haven't even been able to play Knights of the Old Republic II because my computer sucks so bad.

Argh. I need too many gadgets.

So I think I will just continue to wait and suffer along with the rest of you.

And time will just tick by, as it usually does.

*sigh*

No according to the actual owners in the Rezound forum. Not at all.

And I'm especially unhappy with the suggestion in their forum to go to non-HTC forums so happy owners with phones that are working fine can learn that they're wrong and their radios aren't working fine.

Please don't let the experience of a few lemons decide how an entire model performs.

Please pass on information that's solid, not rumors.

The Rezound is not the Thunderbolt.

Early, I hate disagree with you here, but the Rezound IS the TBolt in that it uses the same SVDO radios that caused Devs grief on the TBolt and has led to them not having an, across the board, stable AOSP ROM. The dev r2doesinc has written an RIL code that makes the ROMs play somewhat nice with the radios, but it is far from perfect and, according to my Tbolt friend, the phone on AOSP is a nightmare.

As far as the LTE radios causing excessive battery drain as they did in the TBolt, that's a totally different story.

Edit: Ninja'd 3x

I picked up an Asus Transformer last night at best buy to hold me over until the Gnex is released. This thing is awesome. Much better than my GTablet. Maybe I won't feel like I need to check this thread 50+ times a day.

P.s. I'm never doing a black Friday event again.

Guys,

I just wanted to share an AWESOME story that is Android related but not Nexus related. If you are at all concerned about phone security or you just want to read something cool, check it out.

So my sister lost her Droid 3 at a store today. She got it about 2 months ago, and did NOT have any GPS tracking software on it.

Anyway, she called it multiple times from my parent's home phone and no one answered. She went to the police station to see if there was any way they could track it, but they couldn't. She went the Verizon store, and the manager was actually really rude. He said there was nothing she could do because she did not have "Where's my Droid" installed, and just walked away in the middle of the conversation. So she came to me and asked what she could do.

I signed into the Android Market under her gmail account, and REMOTELY INSTALLED an application called Plan B. When this app is installed, it automatically starts, and it tracks your GPS location and emails it to your gmail account, giving you a google map of where your phone is.

The app sent the GPS coordinates to her gmail account, and said it was in 3m of that location. We called the cops and reported the address, and the cops were able to go to the house and get the phone! How awesome is that?

We do not believe the people that had the phone stole it. They were an elderly couple and found it at the store and were outside hanging Christmas lights, so they did not get the calls.

I still think it is totally awesome that I was able to remotely install and track the phone.

:D:D:D:D
Pretty cool. Makes me wonder if they solved the issue with Honeycomb and remotely installed apps in a "stopped" state in ICS. Still a good reminder to install Seek Droid either way.

The wording of the post I was replying to made it sound like there was a radio problem per se - and that's been all cleared up.

And people thinking that HTC radios are no good are trying to convince Rezound owners that that's an issue, when it's not.

As far as the radios being not easily supportable by a third party dev, I've already agreed wholeheartedly with the clarifications by all parties on that.

So while there was some miscommunication that was easily solved, my warning stands as pertinent.

Maybe a lot of us know what SVDO is, how it impacted the Bolt and how it might impact rom development for the Rezound, remember that a great many people unfamiliar with the rooting issues of that one model, Bolt, are carrying this as evidence of other.

No reason to let myths take hold and tank any good Android phone. I stand up for the strengths of all Android phones when there and don't sugar coat any weaknesses when they're there either.

Hope this clarifies my position.

Cheers, thanks! :)

for my friends close to NYC with kids, I heard about Kids Night on Broadway this morning and they have some good prices (and some that will still make you wonder if it's worth the money). It's basically a BOGO. Figured it can't hurt to check it out.

That is awesome man. Congrats. I preordered my PRIME and cannot wait one more day for it. I played with the Transformer that you bought and loved it. Sold my iPad (I know) and am returning to the Total Google Experience (TGE) as its called. Can't wait.

Now you can check it from your tablet :D

Yes but 14 days if you have any discounts or upgrades you want refunded back to your Verizon account.

You mean NEXT year. J/K. Thought this thread lost some of it's spunk and I could rile it back up. Maybe it's food coma, maybe it's sleep deprivation from shopping...but the thread is slowing down on a day where I need it to speed up (and get me to 5PM EST). :)

Probably ninja'ed by now: but Dungeon Hunter (I and II) are pretty awesome!

Sigh, The VZW trade-in value on the Dinc. is down to 46.00...

You mean that this AWESOME phone that I've been using for 2 whole years is still worth $46? That's GREAT news...don't be sad. Where else can you love something for two years and then turn it in and still get good value out of it?

it was 75.00 less then 2 months ago :/

oh well, I'm probably going to keep it anyway as a back-up...

That's really not bad imo. After hundreds of flashes, several drops, it has served us well. You could always donate it to a family member or someone who would like to try out the Android flavor. It is still a worthy phone :)

argh. I swear you guys are the ones driving my depressive and manic ticks.

I tried to take advanage of costcos great deal on the Rezound, but because my phone is part of the business account they told me they can't process my request. What kind of bs is that. I called verizon customer support but the business office is closed. The kind csr on the family plan side tried to help me with an upgrade or a discount on an upgrade but told me I would have to try back on monday morning when the verizon business office is open again. The csr told me that she would put notes in the account describing what it was I was trying to do and told me that they would probably be able to help me on monday morning. But I'm not holding out hope.

Has anybody ran into this and if so does anybody have anything that can help me?

I really do want the nexus but if I can get the Rezound for only 50 bucks that deal trumps anything else

argh. I swear you guys are the ones driving my depressive and manic ticks.

My buddy was asking about the Dinc. 2 and Samsung charge as "cheap" cellphones. Once, my slow brain actually "thought" and was like OMG he can get a HTC Rezound for $50!!! I immediately called him with the great news...

"that's cool maybe I'll check it out when I get home..."

I wanted to reach through the phone and slap the ever loving crap out of him....

My understanding is, for the OS and kernal, they are required to by the android terms of use. (not because they want to)

Radios have always been a huge secret thing in phones. the one with the best radio gets the sales. Motorola got a large number of sales for MANY years just because of their reputation in radios, and still do for that matter.

Well said! And you hit the nail right on the head...

For CURRENT VZW subscribers, you CAN go into your account and change your data on the primary account to the double data deal. Just did it for my line :) Don't think I should tell the BF he's missing out on it haha.

Also does anyone know how long it takes before a phone which was ordered online (Amazon) to show up in the VZW system? I've never bought a phone online before so I don't know what the process is really like.

Lol. I thought about not putting 'this year' in my post.
I think a lot of people are on the go today or their phones are being held hostage by family member and that's why we haven't seen as much activity.
