my suggestion Scottg, start shoveling snow/raking leaves/mowing yards (depending on where you live) and by yourself the GNex. How much of the $$ do you have from selling the TB? If you sold it in anticipation for the GNex then you should still have all of it right.....

I sold it for $130, and I don't really do chores o.o

I agree with forced air like a can of compressed air at short range certainly a big no - no ;)

The blow dryer was held at a distance of about 2 feet. Was just enough heat and gentle wind to dry it out in about an hour. It was witnessed through my 10x loupe then deoxitized. Worked really well I should have specified this earlier.

Well, it's currently 75 and sunny so it should be OK sitting out on the porch. :D I should have known better than to trust a "waterproof" case when I went kitesurfing. Waterproofcases.net FTL.

lol, well, sounds like its about time that you learned.

I don't mean to come off as spoiled or anything but I've never done chores because every so often my parents let me get new technology (using their money, despite how I keep telling them I can just use money from my own bank account). But I don't get everything I ask for; in fact the only things I'll have gotten recently are the Thunderbolt and now the GNex. Plus, I'm all for saving as much money as possible.

Yea that should work albeit a bit longer. Lol well at least you had fun kitesurfing when it happened right! :)

But I'm the most tech-savvy one in my family! I help with all sorts of computer/phone problems so I should be rewarded... :P

Yea, and I like you the most, with all your excitement about this phone. As someone suggested, add a line (if you don't already have five), get one of the new phones on that new line, use the other two upgrades, and then cancel the first line that goes past its 2-year mark. It will cost an extra 9.99 a month. The only issue is you "might" lose an unlimited data plan if you drop the line with an unlimited plan.

At least that might be one option.

Seems irrational to release a new smartphone - especially a flagship device - after the holidays when everyone's money is spent. Not saying that VZW has never done anything that appears irrational to us... but they ARE in the business of making money for their stockholders. No doubt it's a balancing act for them.

I would hope they would release it well before Christmas, BUT I can't say I would be surprised or shocked if they didnt. Then again, I am already skeptical based on how they have handled releases in the past.

Lets hope for December 8th...

A local... nice.

I had a feeling that even though he could hide the search bar that it wouldn't let him put anything in its place (icons or widgets). Looks like I was right.

You're only right in the short run. I bet it won't take devs a week to enable that space for whatever you want, just like every other Android phone. It's just the first build. Give them time!

Hearing this after Christmas business or even January is so depressing. But I have to wonder if it is just a result of us waiting this long and our imaginations are getting the best of us. Please, just let there be some real news soon. I think back to all the times we thought we were close, it's killing me.

Well what I would tell MY son is "if you want XXX, you will learn to do chores". Of course, he has been doing chores - including his own laundry - since he was 10 (he's now 18). Not sure how old you are, but perhaps it's time you begin doing adult things, such as chores, if you want adult toys, such as the GNex. Not trying to pee in your cornflakes or anything, but if you want something but aren't willing to make any sort of sacrifice to get it, then the way I was brought up, you don't really deserve to have it.

lol, well, sounds like its about time that you learned.

Well, if you really want that Gnex, now would be a good time to start.

^^^This x1000.

Are they serious? Isn't it rezound, not rezoundT? Their CORRECTION sheet needs a correction. I think its safe to say we should disregard anything we see at best buy from now on.
I just went to Best Buy and picked up the catalog. On the comparison fold out, they list the "Samsung Nexus Prime" as having 4 GB internal/4 GB preinstall, a micro SD slot and FM radio. Actually all the Verizon's phones have a FM radio. So I am not trusing anything from Best Buy.

I wish we could make folders inside the app launcher like GO launcher does.
I thought you can have folders in the app launcher, but you don't have the drag and drop feature to make them like the home screen.

Edit: On and apparently the Integrated GPS is "Google" and not a check mark

I am literally going nuts not knowing the release date for the phone. I can't believe the store reps about this near or after Xmas BS. I believe the reps don't and won't know anything until the day before. We need info from higher in the food chain...

Has anyone reached out to their sources recently?

I really don't know what to tell you scott. You want the Nexus. However, you are the person in your family who most recently got a new phone, and there are only 2 upgrades for the 3 of you. As I see it, you have 2 options:

  1. Let your mom and sister upgrade, as they've been waiting for their new phones longer than you have, while you wait on the Nexus for a while longer
  2. Don't let your sister upgrade, even though she's coming from a Dinc and you're coming from a TB

Option 1 seems a lot more fair to me. If you really want the Gnex that badly, you'll find a way to get the money to buy one outright.

Whatever you decide, Scott...don't listen to me. Apparently I give bad advice now and then. :D

Just work hard and you will eventually reap the rewards. If your parents don't see eye to eye on your phone selection, there's always the next big thing.

I think all P3 has done so far is changed some variables/states to enable/disable the search bar and landscape launcher... with some extra customization I'm sure we'll see some more stuff soon.

Looks like you finally answered my question...your parents are buying the new phone and I assume they also pay the monthly bill as well. IMO, mom gets to upgrade if she wants, before either of you kids. This reminds me of a conversation I had with my freshman son earlier today. I told him I am buying the GN when it comes out and when his upgrade is available this summer, I may opt to give the GN to him and use his upgrade. I see nothing wrong with this. We buy everything he has, pay his phone bill, pay for his xbox live, his WOW, etc., not to mention he's already asking for his dads car when the time comes. (not to borrow, but for dad to give him the car and go buy another)

Does mom pay the bill? Then it sounds like Mom should decide who upgrades. At least that's how it works in my house - he or she who pays the bill calls the shots. :)

All that talk is just people being negative. Verizon said this year.
