***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

You need to trick 'em. Say something like, "Will the Galaxy Nexus be available Online as well as in stores on Dec. 8th?"

This has been tried already. They just reply with "A release date has not been announced yet. Please sign-up...blah blah blah". :(

Maybe if we just bombard them with release questions, they'll just cave and give us a date to keep us quiet. Or, that preorder for tomorrow will come true and everyone will be happy.

Phonearena posted their review of Gnex. Overall they are impressed except the video camera. But to me that video samples don't look so bad.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Review - Performance and Conclusion

In their connectivity section, the reviewer claims:

"The GPS of the Galaxy Nexus works very well. Even without the help of wireless networks, our location got pinpointed in just a couple of minutes."

Doesn't that seem a bit slow?

Couple of minutes? Ouch. I hope not...

First time, long time and all that noise. So, I gotta hand it to the group running the VZWSupport Twitter, at least they answer questions, even though the answers are very vague. I asked if they ever planned on launching the Nexus, to which they shot back a note saying an announcement was coming this year. This was discouraging, so I asked if that meant the phone was coming out in 2012, with only the announcement this year. They responded with "It is scheduled to be released this year." I didn't get a date or anything new, really, other than the fact that we can put to bed any thoughts of the Nexus getting delayed into 2012. So, there's that.

I think they're using an enhanced Magic 8-ball for the replies. :)

yeah, but what if they used assist from wireless network as we normally do? I saw some other reviewers saying within a few seconds.

edit: also Gnex has barometer to assist fast locating. I'm not sure if they used this feature or not.

Depending on the distance from the last time the GPS was used (phone was turned on and you did not meniton if the test was done indoors which is another huge reason for a delay) not really. GPS alone with no cell towers can take a few minutes to lock on.

Thank for this, and welcome!

Check out the poll at the bottom of this article. It seems that Huffington post readers are fans of the Nexus as well. I am beginning to think that this phone may be scarce after release. it also makes me glad that I have put away enough to pre-order this thing the minute it is available, although that seems like it will NEVER happen!

Ninja'd... like 10x :(
Yup, and the poll is now 89% in favor of the GNex. LOL

VZW, can you hear us now?
(evidently not)

Anyone else think.the majority of the 11% for the Droid 4 are disgruntled iPhone users who are pissed that the Gnex is stealing the iPhone's thunder?

Those look delicious BB.
Glad I am busy at work today to keep me distracted from this craziness. I just keep looking at my countdown widget and realizing December 8th isn't terribly far away.

I will be so relieved if that date is announced by VZW.

That must be a typo. I'm sure they meant a couple seconds.

Yup. She abhors the keyboard. The keys are way too flat for her liking and she dismissed it seconds after trying to type on it. She's got an Octane right now and needs something akin to that keyboard. Heck, she doesn't even need LTE anyway. She's nowhere near a power user and the most she'd do is check her Gmail now and then plus check the weather. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I've got an HTC Touch Pro 2 you can buy...CHEAP! It kinda works sometimes. :p

Also, a new feature just appeared. The vibrate notification never stops. It just keeps vibrating until the battery dies or you perform a reset. I've never seen another device with that cool feature.

With all the animosity online towards Verizon, anyone else betting that the folks that run the VZWSupport twitter feed are just chomping at the bit for the SGN release date so that when someone asks,
"When's the galaxynexus coming? I'm go to leave for AT&T, Verizon sucks" they can start answering with responses like:

"Next week, a**hole"
or
"12/8/11 b!tc*"
or perhaps
"8 days, now go get your *'in shinebox!"
:D

My best friend brought these to work today for me to try to take my sad away about not having my phone yet.
Still sad but chocolate makes it bearable. Lol.

Those look good BabyBlues. My girlfriend and I just got hooked on their milk chocolate peanut butter cups. They are delicious and have very recently become our new favorite over their S'mores (also incredibly delicious, but after 3 months atop the list, we're sick of them).

The girlfriend hates mint, but I love it so I'll try out the Joe Joe's next :)

There are probably some nymphomaniacs somewhere that would find such a phone rather tempting. :p

(...Too much? Haha)

I'm seriously about to lose it waiting for this damn phone. I thought I was at my wits end last week, now I'm constantly refreshing this thread, droid life and phandroid. I thought my rent-a-razr would help but it hasn't.

My contacts at Verizon are as clueless about the release date as we are. My disdain for Verizon is growing by the second.

Trying to be optimistic here about an announcement and pre-orders tomorrow (I know doubtful but stick with me here). So if there's no Verizon announcement today could the phone be available for pre-order at midnight? Or does there need to be an announcement first which means the earliest we could pre-order the phone is 9 or 10 AM EST tomorrow if they do indeed make it available then?

The grandfathering isn't stopping on the 29th is it? I mean, the unlimited data already stopped, so those of us grandfathered into unlimited data should still be fine even with a late December or, God forbit, an early 2012 release. No?

I have a contract that doesnt run out till jun 2012 (my 2 year contract) with unlimited data. Let em try and break it.
I'll just set my Eris on to constant stream until it melts!! lmao
