***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I think he has been saying a Tuesday announcement since 11/25. and the gut in quotations seems to hint towards some insider info? No idea really. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

Edit: D'oh! Didn't notice your "wink smiley". Disregard in that case :)

No, I truly am skeptical, but I wasn't aware that he was saying the 29th pre-release as early as the 25th. Was that before any of the blogs/etc were reporting the 29th?

If Verizon was really that concerned about the bloatware, they never would have agreed to sell the GNex.

Seriously, why agree to sell something you have no intention of selling. Makes zero sense.

Secondly, I have it on good authority that the ones who get paid for 3rd party bloatware are the manufacturers......NOT Verizon. I don't know if that's true, but I do trust the channel that came from. If so, then there is no reason to push one phone over another.

And lastly, the iPhone has no bloatware, and gets marketed and pushed quite heavily.

I'm pretty sure my position has been restored. :D

So the fact that the SAME bloatware gets added on HTC, Samsung, and Motorola phones is a coincidence?

C'mon. You know who's getting paid for it.

We also haven't talked about the VZW money making apps. I'm sure VZW isn't paying the mfr for that.

You may be right for apps like Blockbuster, but VZW's content delivery apps would generate revenue directly for VZW.

Besides, manufacturers getting paid for bloatware should still result in higher margins for VZW, although I have a feeling that Google helps subsidize the cost of Nexus phones to offset that somewhat.
That is why I indicated 3rd party apps. Verizon apps are something different. Other than VZ Navigator, is there any other paid verizon bloatware app?

I wonder how many people actually pay for Verizon apps?

A Verizon rep just called me to follow up on an email I sent that basically told them where they could stick their current line of devices. A few interesting (or at least entertaining) bits information* came out of it.

1) When I asked about the delay: he pointed to the expediency of the Razr release and said that when a phone was held up, it was to fix some user experience issue that Verizon found to damning to release the device.

I assumed as much but it does suggest that there was a legitimate reason for the delay and that it wasn't held back so that the Razr and the Rezound could sell. Those phones will sell regardless of the Galaxy Nexus because they each have a different appeal and are all capable devices. It has nothing to do with Verizon pushing bloatware, as the revenue from Let's Golf is minuscule compared to the value of a two year contract.

2) He told me that he already received training on the device. He did know enough about the device that I am inclined to believe him.

3) This one is fun. He told me that while he couldn't say anything specific (as he obviously wasn't allowed), he advised watching the forums "for some good information". His tone and emphasis indicated rather strongly that he was hinting at something, but I don't want to start up a fire storm of speculation. I did, however, find it interesting that he referred me to forums for up to date information on the Galaxy Nexus, especially since forum chatter is usually rife with conflicting rumors. Most other reps only directed me to the sign up page.

So take that as you will. Who knows, maybe that 11/29 pre-order has some legs after all? (Grain. Of. Salt.) Oh, and the sales representatives at two of my local Verizon stores told me that they were told to expect it in stores in a couple of weeks. (Even more salt. Salt salt salt.)

I thought we established that reps don't know any more than we do?

Even so, what time zone are you in? If you're on EST (or even Central), then I have trouble believing that any rep, no matter how dedicated, would call you past midnight :p

Yeah, it's 11/29 and I can't seem to find the pre-order page. I tried calling *611 to complain, but alas it's a recording telling me to call back between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. They KNEW I would be calling after midnight. Sounds like some Tomfooolery to me!

Getting really...really tired of waiting for this thing. Why not do it like Apple??? Why? They get so much hype out of announcing their device the way they do, why frustrate your customers instead of making them more loyal? It's not that hard!

Well WE are certainly a bunch of losers! Lol. Sitting here watching the clock and waiting on a gmail! And I had FINALLY convinced myself that I was gonna pass on the GN, and the dirty bastids go and tease a sub-200 price to me! I just recently got into rooting, flashing, and modding....and I'm hooked! If they dangle that carrot in front of me in my "vulnerable state.....I'm probably a goner! (help me) lol

Somewhere a Verizon exec. is laughing at us as we sit here smashing the F5 button here and on the Verizon website.

I hope it was nervous laughter when the lights dimmed in his office at 12:00AM EST on 11/29/11.

Na, good enough for me. Someone get a mod to change the title of the thread to support this already ffs.

this is bananas.

Does anyone know if verizon makes a significant amount of money on data overages and/or whether they stand to loose much from the all the ICS data control features?

Good night all. I'm headed to bed to catch some much needed sleep. The bags under my eyes have just been relegated to needing to be checked rather than just being carry on. I'll catch up with the crazy train in the morning. Play nice!

Correct, it was before the 29th pre-order date got any credibility. People only really started hoping in the 29th preorder after a leak on some other website (computerworld.com? something or other)

See you on the flip-side BB! Hopefully we'll all be ecstatic over our pre-orders by the time you catch up with the aforementioned "crazy train" ;)

Ahh ok, then I have some hope for 10am :) Perhaps Mr. Link can comment on whether that's 10am EST or what? If it's EST, that will make for a terrific start to my day (PST). :)

Apple copyrighted the way they handle releases and Verizon is forced to do it the only way they know how.
