Never owned a Nokia. How is the Meego experience? Are you concerned at all that there's going to be little to no more support for it from Nokia? (though, I think there's a lot of independent dev. support out there)

Edit: Mods, I hope this is too much OT chit chat :o. Just talking phones until we (hopefully) get some news later this morning.

Funny thing you mentioned this. I was concerned at first till i did some homework :). The phone has only been about for a bout 2 months, but PR1.1 has already been released and they are already working on PR 1.2. This is much more than I have received from Verizon when I had my Droid Incredible for over a year. Despite the fact that there are not a lot of apps out there for the phone (700+), I have been able to find everything I need to use daily, and this is me speaking coming from an iPhone 4 loaded up with apps. Meego Swipe experience has been great so far. I don't miss any buttons, very nice and smooth. Plenty of independent developers working on making different apps and improvements so I am not worried. After all it is linux ;)

LMAO. This is epic. How many pre-order dates, possible release dates, and etc have come and gone now? This is a cell phone release marketing fail on epic proportions. I've lost a lot of respect for Samsung and VZW when it comes to releasing a new so called "top" of the line phone. Maybe this is why Apple has been so successful in the past with the iPhone has they do not have screws up like this.

This is really getting quite comical as to when this phone will "actually" be released.

Yesterday's rumor was all based off of one rumor from computer world. There was no good evidence that a preorder would start today.

I agree and understand, but it's just speculation after speculation for the past three weeks.

Oh I know, let's launch a phone overseas and then release here in the States two months later. Fail.

This looks bad for VZW, Samsung, and the Android OS from a marketing standpoint.

I would not blame Samsung for this Epic failure, Samsung was ready the first week of October. It is in VZW's court.

Well, yesterday I bought a $119 refurbished Nook Color to ease my way into the tablet world. Looks like it's widely supported when it comes to turning it into a full blown android tablet. I'm hoping it will keep me occupied enough to quit obsessing over this phone. :o

IIRC, wasn't every other Nexus phone released in the US first?

I have a feeling this will be the first and last time VZW gets the Nexus line first.

I Decided to call VZW, I guess because I like to be disappointed. I asked if I could pre-order the Galaxy Nexus today. I told her that I'm seeing that Authorized Retailers are beginning pre-orders today and I wanted to go through them rather than an authorized retailer. She put me on hold to talk to her supervisor. She came back and said that it's not available yet. I told her that I'm looking at the Best Buy page right now and told her about pricing, etc. She said, if they will let you pre-order, I'd go with them. DOH!

Nope. You'll just obsess using a bigger screen than a phone.

its only 8:50am on the east coast, why are so many people sure their will be no pre-order already?

It hurts less to start low and fall rather than jump off the high dive and crash into the ground hard.

I don't see the significance of it being released overseas first is.. I wish I had half the choices of cell phones that get released in Korea but hey, one small sacrifice I can deal with.

How about that Euro..

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day there's no SD card
Volume bugs an issue, you rippin out my heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Well yeah I might have chased a couple of iPhones around
All it ever got me was down
Then the ReZound that made me feel good
But never as good as I feel right now
Nexus you're the only one thats ever known how
To make me wanna live like I wanna live now

The waiting is the hardest part

Yeah, I think Google will never want an exclusive on Verizon again, and I am afraid Verizon will never carry another Nexus without an exclusive. But then again, if this phone lives up to expectations, all this Pre-release crap may be forgotten in the name of profits.

From what I've seen, once this phone is out for a week or so people will see how awesome it is and will forget the entire ordeal. They'll get great call quality and fast LTE speeds and will love Verizon again. And all will be right in the world.

This is just one big mass EPIC fail. I don't care who it's on, but someone has screwed the pooch royally with this phone launch in the US. I wish Verizon didn't have exclusivity. That would have probably forced their hand already.

Say what you want about Apple, but at least they do their launches right. This whole process -- from the initial announcement, to the lack of Verizon being incorporated in the launch, to VZW finally announcing that they'll have the phone, to the lack of an actual release date, has reeked of amateur hour. Could anyone imagine this happening to Apple? I blame Google, Samsung, and Verizon equally as Google doesn't wield it's power like it should, and Samsung capitulates to the carriers, and well Verizon is interested in selling contracts not phones. I read that Apple and Jobs considered the consumer its most important customer and that other phone manufacturers consider the carriers their most important customers. I think this is a prime example of that. I've had and android device since the OG droid came out, but this almost makes me want to switch to an iphone, at least I know I'll get regular updates and a new model every year about 2 weeks after it's announced.

Rant over.
