***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hello I'm all caught up with the posts from this morning. I had something small done to me, a test as an outpatient yesterday but I was under anesthesia pretty much all day and was a little loopy. That's why I didn't have the past two days.

Anyway I just got all caught up this morning because I slept in. Want to tell everybody how proud I am of you for doing a great job in the face of the disappointment from last night's debacle.

So bravo to the adults who didn't act like kids and a bravo to the kids who acted like adults!

On to a little news report:

I heard from the source. He said that the phone is still in testing. He also said that there is disagreement up at the top levels over the way this phone's release was handled so far.

Now this is my own take. It could just simply be a thing of a disagreement between people who say let's release it now and fix it later vs. those who say let's fix it now and release it later?

Who knows?

Thank you, and feel better... I like your take on this!

I think this will turn into a Nexus One launch. I'm afraid Verizon will pass on the Nexus brand again, but will they get a comparable alternative as was the Droid Incredible? And will anyone go for a skinned cop out of the Galaxy Nexus? I'm annoyed.

Did the Nexus One go through as much testing as the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon's network?

3) Verizon as far as phone companies go are fairly reliable with their "published" release dates. Again forget about all leaks and all internal documents that you were never meant to see, and go with published dates. You can't use knowledge that you gained through non official sources to attempt to blame them for this.

This reminds me of a guy who used to work here as a programmer. All of his estimates were 100% accurate. In the software world this is almost impossible, something always crops up and slows you down. 100% accurate.

Apparently, he didn't estimate anything until he had finished coding it. Pretty easy to claim perfection when you are predicting the past.

Seems to me like saying Verizon hasn't delayed or missed any dates when they haven't given any is like estimating the past.

Just my brain thinking weird again.

I hope you feel better. I'm with you on the battery. I'll take a little more to give me longer without a charge. And yes, I'll admit that it is probable its in the gutter even subconsciously. :D
Thanks BB! I'm feeling a bit better. Love the new avatar, by the way :D

Ouch, he's really getting ripped in the comments section. I feel bad for him. :/

Yeah, we were discussing that yesterday. Pretty depressing, especially the bit about not supporting grandfathered unlimited plans. :/

I read that it indeed go through testing but the difference here is that I don't even think Verizon itself acknowledged its existence (outside of a mention on Google's Nexus/phone page as coming soon to Verizon).

The fact that Verizon announced it will be available this year leads me to believe they aren't going to go way of the Nexus One with the Galaxy Nexus. Stranger things have happened but I wouldn't despair yet. We still have a whole month left.

This still gets me every time regarding the first rumor in that post regarding a name change.

Has anyone else noticed that if you go to the verizon wireless site and search "galaxy nexus" you get some random hits (and the advert banner) but if you search "nexus prime" it takes you straight to the sign-up-for-more-information page?

guarantee you the disagreement is because VZW is in bed with motorola and they dont want to release the gnex this soon because it'd hurt the RAZR's sales. thats why they are so hush hush about the damn phone because if they give us a date, then noone will get the RAZR..ughhhhh

Nah, the phones are already made, they are (IMO) way past the point of no return. If the phone had issues bad enough for them to consider that drastic of a action, the GSM version would be affected also(most likely) and we'd have heard something.

Good morning Nexaholix!

I've been entertaining family for the holiday so I've missed most of the last week. I'm happy to see that this has turned into the all time great mega-thread everyone expected, but sad that we still have no solid news of the Nexus.

We had some interesting phone things happen over the holiday. Anyone who thinks Verizon is so bad, should probably note this. I spent 2 and half hours on the phone with AT&T, for my parents, trying to get early upgrades approved. They have been with AT&T for 11 years and I was told repeatedly that it would cost $200 per line to move their upgrade dates by one month. Oddly enough it would only cost $100 per line to cancel their entire contract. Anywho, after 2 and half hours I finally found a really nice customer retention specialist that not only moved their upgrade date to Black Friday, but also sold me 2 Samsung Galaxy S 2 Skyrockets for $125 each while issuing a $216 credit to their account. She also gave them free overnight shipping. So my parents are looking forward to having 2 $22 Skyrockets sitting on their front porch when they return home this afternoon. :D Never underestimate the power of polite negotiations.

My girlfriend and I also picked up new phones over the weekend. She traded her Blackberry back in for an Incredible 2. This after repeatedly hating Android due to her use of an OG Droid and 3 different HTC Droid Erii. She loves her Incredible 2 though. :D So far she thinks it is the best phone she has ever had. I picked up the HTC Rezound. I finally figured out that the main things I really want are a faster phone and 4G. I now have both along with an option to trade until the end of the year (Best Buy). If the Nexus shows up before the end of the year I may switch and if doesn't I'll be glad I didn't wait around for a third month. Either way, I am enjoying the phone.

there are forums other than here that talks about Galaxy Nexus? Blasphemy.
I love the Verge :D

I love the Verge as well. :D

If the Nexus is being delayed by VZW due to NFC being disabled, I no longer want this phone. Its Google's phone and they should be bitch slapping VZW for the delay of this device. It is ridiculous with all these delays and they don't even let their customers know whats going on. They like to keep us all in the dark.

Thank you VZW for botching up once again (as usual I might add) what is stellar device and something we should already have in our greedy lil hands. If it turns out that all these things are true, and in addition, may be (speculation on my part I will add) adding additional VZW bloatware I will not buy this phone, period.

I will wait to see when ATT and T-Mobile get it and then make a decision if I still want it or not. CES will be here before you know it as well as quad core phones, so I just may wait for a new device altogether. I have zero faith in VZW and after many years of being with them, this, in the end, may cancel my business with them. Not like they care because they don't at the end of the day, but enough is enough.

Ok, rant over folks. Thanks for listening. :)

Typically, for consumer level products, they test that the bugs were fixed and a limited subset of the full testing, not the entire prodcut verification cycle again.

Put simply, At tune-up time, you don't go back and check your engines sparkplugs if the only thing wrong was you needed windshield washer fluid.

I've been in software Q/A for 5 years and we absolutely always check "sparkplugs after washer fluid change". Any change in software can effect something else that is entirely unrelated. We always do heavy regression testing on the whole system even if it's just a font change.

Obviously, not all companies do it the same but I'd be suprised if they're just testing the small fixes alone. I'm sure there are many stages of testing as Development testing internally than they push the User Acceptance Testing to people like p3droid.

Obviously my timeframe guess could be (and most likey) off but testing is a bigger project than most people tend to think.

I had read one of your posts before about the search thing but never got around to trying it. Just did now and it's rather... interesting.

I'm just assuming it was an optimization error put up when the phone might have been codenamed the Nexus Prime and then they never changed it.

Just my two cents. Though it wouldn't surprise me to see a name change at this point.

If the phone even makes it to Verizon. Remember the Nexus 1 that was supposed to hit the big red and never did.

Nexus One Phone - Choose a phone

Like I said back in October......I'm currently blahhh.

During an investigation we recovered an unlocked 32GB iPod Touch that has not been registered or have any owner identification info to help get it back to its original owner.

Apple has a lost registry and such but if you call its totally useless.

So, I am the new owner unless the owners ID is revealed.

Looking at the browser history I see a user has been doing lots of research on the GN at android central...... Heh!

This being my 1st experience with an apple interface I am glad I am Android. I keep trying to swipe and such and getting aggravated in the way it is.

The darned thing is everything BUT a phone it seams.

The best part other than the freebee is my car stereo a Pioneer DEH-5200HD has an iPod interface! :)
