***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Folks, if the Verizon execs are really feeling the way they are per Han's sister, then we are not going to see this phone on December 8th. I don't think they are brazen enough to go back on their own word, but again if Hanette is correct, 12/29 is the only possible date, with no pre-order, and no advertisement until after the new year. A web only quiet launch, with a short Press Release to fulfill their promise.

I just got this in a PM from Han and wanted to share it with everyone. Granted, the news is troubling, but it's news, nonetheless. Please don't go crazy over it. Stay respectful and continue to love one another, please. :)

Thanks Steven, glad to see Han will stay in touch with you when he hears something from his sister.

Later Verizon!!! If this thing is not AT LEAST ANNOUNCED by the 8th Unlocked Nexus and AT&T here I come! no need for the c-ya remarks either. If you actually feel Verizon isn't dropping the ball on this then you either A. Work for the idiots
B. Are the most patient person in the world
C. Are not a high strung Geek like me
D. Actually have a life :)

1) Not true. I assume you don't read Engadget, BGR, Gizmodo etc. How many stories do we get of "HERE IS THE NEW IPHONE 5 PART LOOK AT THIS SCREEN AND THIS APPLE TAG OMG SO AWESOME" or "iPad5 Pictures of cases!" etc. If your talking about direct leaks from Apple, how about losing phones in bars? It happens to everyone.

2) Your giving Apple a pass for what Verizon is attempting to do. They don't want to announce a date then miss it. Its two totally different ecosystems, one of total control of every step from software to manufacturing to one of providing a product manufactured by others while trying to deal/create a Corporate strategy that works best for you. You pointed this out yourself, then went on to rage against what you admitted has more steps and processes.

3) Verizon as far as phone companies go are fairly reliable with their "published" release dates. Again forget about all leaks and all internal documents that you were never meant to see, and go with published dates. You can't use knowledge that you gained through non official sources to attempt to blame them for this.

4) This is debatable. The Bionic was so bad it was completely redesigned 2 times, would you really have liked for them to release that phone? I'm not going to get into software, yes I would prefer to not have "Let's Golf" etc on my phone, but unfortunately its the way of the industry. As a power user I'm going to remove it and move on with my life, not worth throwing a fit over. Non power users are going to ignore it.

Regarding the rest of your rant. Verizon is a business, they exist to make money. Please don't assume they are any different than other providers. T-Mobile is cheaper because it has to be to compete in the market. Not because they are your noble friends who want you to pay less for phone service. Do I think that wireless service is extremely expensive? Yes I do. It blows my mind that behind rent and food wireless is nearly my next largest expense. That being said, I am fully aware that I am paying a premium for a luxury service. Do I need this awesome smartphone that I have? No. I could survive with a dumb phone

1) You assume incorrect. There is a HUGE difference between accidental leaks (phone in bar), assumptions by uninformed press (Gizmodo), prototypes from a manufacturer (not considered corporate internal), photoshopped images, (also Gizmodo), and internal leaks about the latest internal plan that was never even close to being concrete (Verizon/Nexus).

2) I'm giving a pass to apple for doing what Verizon is FAILING to do. The problem I'm pointing out is that each company needs to do what it is good at. Manufacturers need to do so and services providers provide service. Service providers need to stop dictating the market for devices. If they had their way, we would never have iPhone or Android.

3) Simply put, you're not talking about the same thing that I'm discussing here. ACTUAL release dates are irrelevant to the point I'm discussing. Reminder: We're talking about how Verizon should NOT be involved in the development or release of a phone. Verizon delays a phone until they deem it appropriate for their customers. Should never happen this way. Product vs Service.

4) Not debatable. Verizon should have never had their name attached to the Bionic until it was ready for release. Moto is to blame, but when Verizon is attaches to a product they have to answer to their customer. Like it or not, this is the business/customer relationship. Regardless of this point there is still the Nexus and every other phone that has been delayed (announced release date or not) by Verizon.

Regarding the rest of your response, please don't assume that I assume anything! My rant was only aimed at Verizon given that they have a good record of taking advantage (stealing) from their customers. In addition, we're primarily talking about Verizon here given that they are first to release the Nexus in the US. I'm well aware of the crooked business practices of the other providers we have here.

this just in guys, Apparently confirmed, Verizon is trying to coordinate the US release of the Galaxy Nexus with the release on Mars, keep in mind to take this with a grain of salt FWIW

Also in todays news: The tiny country of Tristan Da Cunha located 1750 miles off the coast of Africa received an order of 50 Galaxy Nexus phones airdropped from Verizon. One resident was quoted as saying "Where is our rice?"

Steven's post through Han has almost made me want to puke.....The second this becomes official through a Verizon PR i'm going to Verizon and getting a Rezound and demanding that they note that i will not be charged a $35 restocking fee when i return it.

LMAO, Thank you I think everyone needed that.:D

IF it's really pushed even further, possibly in to January, I might wait to see what's coming next...especially at the rate phones have been coming out lately.

Going with the rumor of no longer offering grandfathered unlimited data after March, does anyone think there will be a next gen b.a. power house phone out early 2012?

Relax dudes, Han's sister has been wrong before (as have many other Verizon reps). I wouldn't put it past Verizon though.

But it makes a lot of sense...VZW is interested only in the bottom line, and if they feel Q4 revenue is good enough with the current phones and they can get away with pushing the Nexus to Q1 to increase Q1/2012 outlook/forecast, then they will absolutely do it. They've shown they don't care about their customers, only in their bottom line. From a pure money-grub bing/profit perspective, it makes a lot of sense. I for one am not expecting this until probably mid-January or even later. So I will most likely be waiting for my contract to expire and re-evaluating my options.

I wonder how many customers VZW is losing over this phone?

So we are assuming that Verizon is going to reverse a PR release announcement, not because of any technical issues, but because of marketing?

I just wanted to put that out there. It doesn't seem very logical. Verizon usually sticks to their word that they give. (even though the may not say much, it's usually pretty accurate when the do)

if the phone is still buggy at this point, just give it to me and let the devs sort it out! i hate that this is the argument i am making, but i fully plan on rooting my GNex right out of the box anyway. between custom ROMs and dev fixes (example), they will have it running right in no time. it is amazing that those guys care more about us than VZ does when i am paying VZ $300/month and they are doing their work for free.

this does not apply to your "average" user, and i know VZ would never let a phone like that out (except the BB storm, Thunderbolt, Bionic.... ok, maybe they would), but i want my Nexus NOW!!

hahaha, this made me laugh my ....rear end off, i was going to post *random third world country* instead of Mars but i didn't know if i would be overstepping any boundaries but this is hilarious LOL +1

My action tweet to Verizon.

I wonder what Google thinks about this GNex fiasco. If Google has made a commitment that the GNex will be the 1st device with ICS, that means any delay in the release of the GNex pushes out the release of any and all other devices that are slaterd to run ICS. That can't make the Google execs very happy, let alone the manufacturers of the other devices. Seems like VZW has a lot of other parties by the short hairs, and they can't be making any friends at this point.

So after talking to my buddy who is also looking for this phone, he brings up another good point. IF they are willing to push it to the first quarter, just about guaranteed it will not even be in the first half of the month. Verizon will surely wait until the return period for holiday purchases is over prior to releasing it if they are willing to wait until 1Q.
