***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

The Q1 release notion seems stupid in and of itself. Like they will stop selling GN's after 12/31?

Well aren't release days usually the highest a given phone will see sales? They probably want a big hit in Q1 to pad their earnings. If they released in this quarter then sales will just come trickling in Q1. At least that makes the most sense to me. My assumption is not based on any reality.

My goodness I hope it isn't true. The fact that they are potentially entertaining idea scares me.

I guess AT&T and GSIII next summer here I come? :(

So we are assuming that Verizon is going to reverse a PR release announcement, not because of any technical issues, but because of marketing?

I just wanted to put that out there. It doesn't seem very logical. Verizon usually sticks to their word that they give. (even though the may not say much, it's usually pretty accurate when the do)

If they delay the phone until next year, it will be due to "technical issues".

I wonder what Google thinks about this GNex fiasco. If Google has made a commitment that the GNex will be the 1st device with ICS, that means any delay in the release of the GNex pushes out the release of any and all other devices that are slaterd to run ICS. That can't make the Google execs very happy, let alone the manufacturers of the other devices. Seems like VZW has a lot of other parties by the short hairs, and they can't be making any friends at this point.

It still was the first. Just not here.

Agreed!
I would not believe anything said until VZW says something firm.
We have a few windsocks here in this thread who like to start the fire.;)
Pour the gas and we will lite it......:(

I just got this in a PM from Han and wanted to share it with everyone. Granted, the news is troubling, but it's news, nonetheless. Please don't go crazy over it. Stay respectful and continue to love one another, please. :)

Thank you Steven and Han! News is news... me and my cracked OGD will limp along for now.

My guess is that if it is not released by 12/15... then it won't happen in 2011. Why bother to release a phone after Christmas presents have already been purchased? If only the moronic cowards would just say one way or another, we could move on with our lives.

That is just it. Logically from a money stand point that won't happen. Sure people buy cell phones and plans in January but if someone is interested in looking for numbers I am pretty sure the selling of big ticket high-tech items in January is one of the worst months. Not saying it won't be released say a week before Christmas but the smart execute knows you will sell more in the long run by releasing before Christmas. Heck, the iPhone is still on back order and will account for a large portion of sales in Q1 for them.

Hard to believe they would forgo the potential GNex sales this holiday season.. but if they have strong sales regardless then it makes sense... even if we hate them for it.

I also wonder what the duration of the VZW exclusivity is.

If they delay it to next year they won't get as many sales from it (maybe that's what they want). Simply put. At that point it's 2+ months old, and who's going to pay $299 for a phone that's 2+ months old?

And CES announces phones in January, if they're announcing quad core phones and showing all phones have HD screens and ICS then the Galaxy Nexus will be old news... It does not make sense imho to release it next year, I for one will not be waiting and will not pick it up there since I'd be better finding something else off contract until the quad core ICS phones are ready.

It's up to you if you want to post it. I just thought they deserve to know if my sis texts me with any info.

Peeps jumped down our throats for claiming Verizon was pushing the date back to separate competition, increase sales, and sell other phones first.. we were nutty conspiracy theorists if you will.

And this is why I never backed down from that statement ^^^ :D:D

Bugs.. lmao.

They can tell the public anything they want. I'm of the opinion that VZW does not want to kill RAZR and Rezound sales by releasing the GNex now, so they are going to delay the GNex for as long as possible. It's a marketing reason, but they can always put some other spin on it to keep the masses from revolting.

ATTENTION BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
We have uncovered the real reason for the Galaxy Nexus's continual delay!!!!!

It appears that the CEO, the CFO as well as the head of marketing for Verizon are actually the spawn of Satan. Once again that is SATAN not to be confused with SANTA!

Also in related news there appears to be a strange yet contagious medical condition spreading through Verizon's higher ranking officials. Symptoms are, an inability to give a crap about the consumers wants. This is coupled with Their heads being buried deep in their anal cavities by a mysterious force and the lack of the ability to give a staright forward answer.

We now resume our regular programing

IF it's really pushed even further, possibly in to January, I might wait to see what's coming next...especially at the rate phones have been coming out lately.

Going with the rumor of no longer offering grandfathered unlimited data after March, does anyone think there will be a next gen b.a. power house phone out early 2012?

I think January is my cut-off date as well. My Inc is still chuggin' strong. If no GN by 12/31 then I'll wait till their Spring launch/es.

Good question about another top tier device by March. It seems they're flooding the market with handsets (no surprise this time of year) right now. I bet by April you'll see one/or two.

I still believe that the GN will come out before Christmas though.
